Re: Poll: Are You Bothered By The Frame Rate In Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom?

ChromaticDracula

I’ll meet y’all in the middle and say yes, there are moments of slowdown, where I’ll define slowdown as the framerate lowered for about 2-3 seconds. Did it ruin my game at all? Not in the slightest. It’s not like the music skipped and the screen glitched and the game crashed. It’s totally tolerable.
Do I wish it wasn’t there? Sure… but it in no way affects my enjoyment. If the game was touting realistic graphics and true-to-life environments etc, maybe it would have more of an impact. I let it fly

Re: Christmas Comes Early In This Blatant Super Mario Bros. 3 Clone

ChromaticDracula

@-wc- you do make a good point… perhaps I will reconsider. As I said though, I’ll wait for a review (meaning, if it plays as well as its inspiration, I’ll be buying!)
Mario 3 has a dear spot in my heart (as I’m sure it does for many) so any more of that that I can get will make me happy. This actually gives me Mario Maker Wii U vibes and that’s a good thing.

Re: Gallery: Here's The Switch Lite Hyrule Edition In All Its Zelda-Themed Beauty

ChromaticDracula

2/2 @PillowPants Overall, it's kind of clunky and not ideal but I haven't had any issues with it so far so it does work. I do not regret getting the Switch Lite at all; You asked if it was worth it more or less and I say YES. I love the proper D-pad and I love having this massive library with me when I go on trips. For example, I finally beat Landstalker (Genesis NSO) again for the first time since I was like 12 or something because it was so enjoyable on the Lite. I used to have my soul tethered to my 3DS because it was the ultimate portable system (frankly, it's still tempting to take this with me sometimes...) but now the Switch has finally become my go-to because of how portable the Lite is. It's also really great having the cloud saves be able to bounce back and forth between the docked console and handheld. Wife wants the TV? Cool, let me close the game out and pop over to my more comfortable Lite and pick right up where I left off.

Hope this helps!

Re: Gallery: Here's The Switch Lite Hyrule Edition In All Its Zelda-Themed Beauty

ChromaticDracula

1/2 @Pillowpants LONG ANSWER WARNING: I went through this exact predicament. I only play docked and I really don't care for the analog sticks on the switch so didn't think I'd enjoy handheld only that much. But...here's my experience thus far after about 3 months with a Lite and a docked Switch:
Getting the Switch Lite up and running was easy. I had to manually re-download all my titles from the eShop. I had to keep checking on it periodically for about 24 hours because some downloads would just stop or halt and not continue. I had to keep re-triggering them, etc.
Then, for whatever reason, every single game I downloaded, I had to go into the game's settings (the screen where you can redeem gold points for carts) and manually tell each one to download my cloud data that very first time. After this first time, everything is automatic but I had to do this step ONCE for each game.
Next, you then have to decide what your main switch will be. The main switch is the console that automatically downloads new digital games and the system that gets your demos that you select to download from eShop in the browser.
Despite my docked regular Switch being my main way to play Switch games, I ultimately decided that my Switch Lite is my primary console as far as the eShop is concerned, and here is why: The non-primary Switch (docked, at home) needs to touch base with Nintendo's servers every time you boot a digital game. That of course requires an internet connection. So for example, if I go to play my non-primary Switch Lite on an airplane, and it can't connect to Wi-Fi, I can't play my digital game. This does not affect physical carts, you can play them 24 hours a day whenever. The other part of this is that if someone is home on your docked Switch playing the digital version of Echoes of Wisdom and you go to play that same downloaded digital copy on your Switch Lite, you won't be able to. For digital games, the console that boots the digital game first gets priority and won't let you play it on another console until the game is closed. Again, this does not affect physical carts (if each system has a physical Echoes of Wisdom cart inserted, you're good to go), it is only for digital games.
The solution is to set the console that won't have Wi-Fi readily available at all times as the primary.

So, my current workflow/setup:
My main OG launch day switch stays docked and on basically always on Wi-Fi. I play this the most and always remember to close my game out when I'm done to "free it up." Every time I boot a digital game, it does a quick Nintendo server handshake ("Checking if game can be played") and then boots into the game. This is never a problem because again, I'm always on Wi-Fi.
For my Switch Lite, I take this with me on trips and because it's the "primary" console, it doesn't require a quick Nintendo server hand-shake every time I boot a digital game. (See 2/2)

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give The Legend Of Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom?

ChromaticDracula

My only 2 gripes are the target lock-on (rather, the inability to switch targets with the other stick), and the massive list of Echoes and getting through them.
Honestly, the latter has been fine and I don’t have solution other than categorizing them (enemy, furniture, etc.) which would maybe make things even worse but it’s a biiiiig menu to scroll through once you have gotten a nice chunk of echoes.

Either way, I gave it a 9 because it’s just shy of perfection. Hiccups haven’t been crushing, gameplay has me engaged more than lots of other games that came out recently, and it’s fun to play and discover things in the overworld. It’s a blend of BOTW and old-school Zelda. I absolutely love it!

Those keychains — I NEEEEDDD THEM.

Side note: Never heard of Bluesky (the link you posted) and legit thought it was just Twitter at first. I got off Twitter years ago and then just full-on deleted my account once you-know-who-took over but I'm willing to support this new open-source Bluesky platform. Might make an account...

Re: Fantasian Neo Dimension Releases On Switch December 2024

ChromaticDracula

Ya'll may not know this but I've been waiting for this game to be freed from Apple's clutches for forever. I didn't think it would happen and a lot of you also thought the same but boy were we wrong! I wonder if we'll get a physical copy at some point... This is one I'd spring for being that it's so deeply-rooted in Final Fantasy.

@awaltzforvenus what, where did you preorder the physical cart from?? Let me guess, PlayAsia? I'm going to check right now.

Re: Mario & Luigi: Brothership Free Slipcover Pre-Order Bonus Revealed

ChromaticDracula

I miss the days of cool preorder bonuses (I'm looking at you, Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam)! Came with decent-sized paper craft Mario, Luigi, goomba, and koopa troopa.
No but really, any preorder bonuses are cool, just some are clearly better than others! Would love that French bonus with the steel book but my OCD is too wild knowing there is a non-US case in my collection. Makes it feel like a bootleg in my mind. 😩Don't get OCD, kids.

Re: Atari 50 DLC Adds 19 Games And Launches Later This Week

ChromaticDracula

If Enduro is included I’ll be buying this.
I don’t recall seeing that game available, maybe ever, outside of the original cart. It’s my favorite game on Atari. Not holding my breath since it was an Activision game but one could hope!
EDIT: preordered just because I can’t pass this up. It’s reads like a playable documentary and I’m a sucker for mixed media.

Re: Random: Chappell Roan Jokes About Fan Taking Concert Photos On A DS

ChromaticDracula

@Mana_Knight it’s basically reduced to a mere sound bite at that point haha

I saw someone walking around with a gameboy camera one day downtown. It had one of those big modded lenses on it so I think it was probably taking some cool photos. I wanted to ask them to see some of the shots so bad but I didn’t feel like getting up and running outside.

Re: Rumour: Supposed 'Switch 2' Design Photos And Specs Surface Online

ChromaticDracula

I hate the whole "...but man if this is the real thing it’ll be disappointing this got out first" comment. Like why add that... Why start sprinkling contagious negativity in? What value does that' add?
I'm excited... The price will be the determining factor for me though. I just very recently got my hands on a Switch Lite which has been stellar for handheld play. Finally feels like a portable (as opposed to my launch Switch which feels massive and not as comfortable.)
Anyway, not in a huge rush for a switch 2 but when it announces/launches I'll be very happy!

Re: Green Ranger Will Be Unlockable In Digital Eclipse's Upcoming 'Power Rangers' Game

ChromaticDracula

Dear Eclipse,
I was already buyin’ the game. Once you’ve made the sale, stop sellin’.

EDIT: although, that does suck pretty bad that all the rangers have the EXACT same move set. I was hoping they’d at least do the thing they did on Sega’s Power Rangers Movie where they at least have their respective weapons or whatever else. Who knows, like another said, I just want the release date so I can give my wallet a heads up. He’s still whining about that recent eshop sale.

Re: 'Castlevania Dominus Collection' Brings Three DS Classics To Switch Today

ChromaticDracula

@TopazLink Holy crap you are like next level Castlevania knowledge LOL. For you and others with questions about touch controls: I have been playing Ecclesia and haven't started the others yet but I can say that you move the "touch pointer" around the screen with the right analog stick. I believe you hold R and then you can move it around the screen. Kind of acts like a mouse pointer. You can click the right stick down to change the speed at which it moves at 3 different settings (slow, fast, very fast). If you're playing handheld, the Switch screen is just a big touch screen so you can use your finger too.
It's a little cumbersome but haven't had any issues yet. That seal mechanic in DoS is going to really be the test but I'm saving that game for last.

Re: 'Castlevania Dominus Collection' Brings Three DS Classics To Switch Today

ChromaticDracula

@dustinprewitt YES PLEASE.... I was really hoping they'd announce a new round of N64 games on that direct yesterday (I mean, we got the Tetris announcement) and that Castlevania 64/Legacy of Darkness would be one of them. I guess it's still possible to just drop them before October but who knows...
I'll officially retire my N64 if we get Mystical Ninja and Castlevania on NSO.

Re: Random: Alien: Romulus Pays Tribute To Alien: Isolation With... Telephones?

ChromaticDracula

@GamingFan4Lyf I agree… this is a spoiler! Really regretting reading this article.
Keeping that under the radar until a few weeks after the movie released would’ve been smart.
Still… that’s pretty cool to know. Glad that someone who knows the source material is the one pulling the strings.

UPDATE: I’ve seen the movie and didn’t notice 1 phone so I feel this didn’t really ruin anything knowing this “spoiler”. For those who haven’t seen the movie, you’ll really have to be looking for phones to have this be a spoiler which means you wouldn’t really be watching the film.
Also, I thought the movie was AWESOME.

Re: Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night To Address "Switch Crash" In Next Update

ChromaticDracula

Played and beat the game way back on Switch when it was released. Probably had 2-3 hard crashes where the game quit. Luckily I had saved often so it wasn't a big deal to jump right back in. No other complaints from me...
Always did want to try it on newer hardware though, purely for the better graphics (Ala, Shin Megami Tensei V Apocalypse).
This is truly a great game and I can't wait for the next entry...if that ever comes.

Re: The Pokémon Company Banked $10.8 Billion In Retail Sales Last Year

ChromaticDracula

@Pillowpants I’ve said the same thing… I got burned with the latest games. Shocking.
I should’ve known when I saw that Pokémon become bicycles… that’s whacky when you really think about it.
Really though, just solid performance is what we all want and what we’ve grown to expect from them over the years. I can look past a lot of other things and just have fun but those latest games wouldn’t even allow that. Ooooof
