Re: Rumour: One Of Kirby's 3DS Titles Will Return Next Year, It's Claimed

ChromaticDracula

If this is true, I’m so happy. I never got to play the game. Worse, because of the way 3DS demos worked, letting you boot them no more than 30 times, I also had paralysis every time I went to try it. I didn’t want to waste those precious 30 plays… it’s stupid I know but that’s how my mind works sometimes.

I know it’s critically acclaimed and always seemed to fetch a high price on the used market.

Re: Opinion: Nintendo Needs To Let Us Block The Crap On Switch 2's eShop

ChromaticDracula

I agree here- I always sympathize with y’all having to create and hyperlink and type out all those (I’ll use the words) awful shovelware games. Back in the day I used to look forward to Thursdays and reading your lists but not this generation. It’s just mud and dirt and like one or two actual games. It’s gotta be crushing for the developers too having their game tucked in the cracks between all that crap. It should be the other way around having the crap tucked in between the gems.
Options are great, I hope there are some decent tools to block developers.

On another note. I took part in one of those .99 cent game per day all month things one year and I highly regret it now. My purchase history is littered with crap games I’ll never play and have never played. They’re not downloaded but they’re on my Redownload tab with no way to permanently hide them. More garbage to sift through to get to what I actually want or need.

Re: Nintendo Considered Giving Up On 'Mario & Luigi' Before Approaching Acquire

ChromaticDracula

No I understand that (although I definitely didn't read the article thoroughly — guilty! 🙋‍♂️)
I guess I just find it hard to believe that "no one" wanted to take over the project. If I were Nintendo I'd be pushing hard to keep it alive. How many times do we read articles of devs that would love to work with Nintendo. Sure, Nintendo looks for top notch but still.

Re: Nintendo Considered Giving Up On 'Mario & Luigi' Before Approaching Acquire

ChromaticDracula

Sure, Nintendo, kill off one of your most fun, inventive, and graphically flare series.
Sometimes I don’t know if Nintendo is run by humans or really lucky hamsters.
Sure, I know not every game is for everyone, but the Mario and Luigi series is just truly a unicorn. It leans into the comedy, brings some interesting pieces (like rhythm) to standard RPG turn-based combat, and is a different take on standard Mario games. I think it should be considered a Mario tripod. You have the 3D Mario, the side screen Mario, and the RPG Mario. Perfectly balanced.

Re: It's Over! Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp's Online Service Has Officially Ended

ChromaticDracula

I can’t believe they’re not making this a smooth transition from paid to free with this wait period. For a game that demands so much interaction, forcing a hard break is strange. Sure it’s only a few days but for folks who had and have a daily streak going, that’s going to kill momentum from your best players. Curious to see if there was any bigger player dropoff from this.

Re: Review: Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection (Switch) - Divine Dungeon Crawling But Not Definitive

ChromaticDracula

@BulbasaurusRex There is an “automapping” feature in the settings that you can turn on and change between:
ON: only floor tiles you cross over will be mapped
OFF: no automapping at all
FULL: all floor tiles and walls get added automatically (with the feature on).

I have FULL on and I need to manually add the secret wall passages and treasure chests and stuff. Although totally doable, it was a bit too cumbersome having to add walls and tiles without the stylus/DS/3DS setup. I’m enjoying the Switch version as much as the DS/3DS versions!

Re: Feature: 9 Things Nintendo Could Add To Switch 2 So It's Not 'Just Another Switch'

ChromaticDracula

I am so happy ya’ll put streetpass on this list. If you hadn’t, I was going to.

That’s my number 1 missed feature on Switch. I’d actually be taking my lite out of the house if that were a thing!

I can tell Nintendo played it “safe” somewhat after the Wii U “failure” (that’s not what I’d call it but that’s what it’s known as sadly.)
So I feel the next Switch will be a fully realized version, incorporating lots more fun Nintendo flair. Would also love to see an adapter of some sorts that allows us to plug in 3DS carts or something like that or even a motion control bar like the Wii had so I could properly enjoy house of the dead remake and other light gun games. I suppose that’s where that extra USB port could come into play….
Happy holidays everyone! These speculation articles are fun

Re: Monster-Fusing RPG Cassette Beasts Lands New Game Mode And Rewards In 'Gauntlet Update'

ChromaticDracula

Cassette Beasts is such a good game. It's familiar but does so many things different in such interesting ways. Like using fire attacks on metal enemies or using water on fire enemies changes their elemental properties, etc. I love that you can learn more than 4 moves... the soundtrack is phenomenal...
Definitely my Pokémon killer. I need to go back and finish it, I was really enjoying it.

Interested to see new content! Didn't know that would ever be a thing.

Re: Talking Point: Will Xenoblade Chronicles X Finally Tie Into The Wider Series On Switch?

ChromaticDracula

I’ve finally sunk my teeth into Xenoblade Definitive Edition on switch and even though I’ve played it on Wii and 3DS, it’s hitting so differently on Switch. Im enjoying it sooo much more than I have in the past. I got Mario & Luigi and Xenoblade the same day and haven’t been able to put Xenoblade down to give Mario and Luigi and try. And I was more excited about M&L!
Point being, I’ll be getting X next year so hopefully it at least connects to the first!

Re: Nintendo Download: 7th November (North America)

ChromaticDracula

My Brothership order didn’t even ship yet from PlayAsia! 😫
Expected… but I’ll be having a delayed start on that one. Can’t wait to give it a shot though; the Mario & Luigi games were some of the best experiences I’ve had with the 3DS. Dream Team and Paper Jam were my favorites.

Re: Review: Metal Slug Tactics (Switch) - A Good Shot At Trying Something New

ChromaticDracula

I was hyper excited about this game but I’m not so sure now…
I’m sure I will absolutely buy it at some point but I’m dropping it down off the “buy now” list where it’s been for almost half a year.

I have that Goblin Slayer TRPG coming next next month which also looks fantastic.

The next one I’m looking forward to is that R-Type Tactics Cosmos game coming out.

Hopefully those 2 above are good too!

Re: Random: Takaya Imamura Ponders The Possibility Of Star Fox Zero On 'Switch 2'

ChromaticDracula

I’d almost want to see them do a Star Fox Metroidvania. Not a side scroller but more or less an “open world” that I can fly around in and land to get out and walk around if need be. Like, a better version of Starlink.
Then again, I’m fully okay with another purely on-rails take on the series but if they’re looking for something new, I think that is the natural progression route.

Re: Random: Takaya Imamura Ponders The Possibility Of Star Fox Zero On 'Switch 2'

ChromaticDracula

@RupeeClock that was my gripe; the game was utterly beautiful and brimming with detail and then it made you view smaller zoomed in areas through that little gamepad screen. Although I think it was a cool idea, it 100% took away the immersion in the environments. It would’ve been cool for a few levels as a “gimmick” but having to do it so often hurt the experience overall.

Re: So, Will You Be Listening To The New Mobile App Nintendo Music?

ChromaticDracula

My personal collection includes:
All NES castlevanias, Rondo of Blood/Dracula X, Castlevania 64, Shinobi 3, Sonic 3 & Knuckles, Kirby’s adventure, blaster master, Tunic, Earthbound, Vengeful Guardian…
I will likely listen to the Nintendo app for Nintendo stuff where able, but for everything else I’m going the personal collection route since a lot isn’t Nintendo.
That being said I totally get why Nintendo is doing this and I think it’s a smart (and fun!) move.

Re: Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition Confirmed For Switch

ChromaticDracula

@Ooyah @thor8467 Ha! It's a solid game! Granted I don't think I've ever beaten Quest 64 (or, "Holy Magic Century" — man, I love that name!) but I really used to love renting it weekend after weekend back in the day. I think it holds up and is done well enough playing it on my emulator over the years.

Have you played Return to Popolocrois: A Story of Seasons Fairytale on 3DS? I felt the battle system was similar on there and that was half the reason I enjoyed that game so much too. because it reminded me of Quest 64/HMC.
I pre-ordered the Analogue 3D the other day so now I'm on the hunt for my final N64 carts I want to round out my collection. Quest 64 is one of them! I will beat it this time!

Re: Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition Confirmed For Switch

ChromaticDracula

@thor8467 I think I fall in the minority that I liked Quest 64. I thought it was a fun game!
Thanks for this, this is helpful
I'm pretty sold on X now, it seems critically acclaimed across the board. I know it doesn't mean I too have to like it but I'm willing to give it a fair shot and make my own opinion. I'm considering revisiting the first one again now as well. Why Nintendo/Monolith Soft, why must you do this to my wallet!?

Re: Switch Online's "Mature" N64 App Expands With Two More Games

ChromaticDracula

@Dpishere Odd for sure... Considering the QOL improvements you can get with those remasters. But, can't and won't complain because I do like having the muddy graphics sometimes when I feel like taking a time travel to the old days. Turok 1 and 2 were among my favorite N64 games so I'm pretty happy. Never played Shadowman until the Nightdive remaster.

Re: Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition Confirmed For Switch

ChromaticDracula

ugh, this series never clicked with me because of the combat but now that they're basically all on the system, I feel obligated. These games looks so good and are built with quality but I just would rather a more final fantasy 7 remake style combat system.
Serious question, has anyone played Quest 64? Would you compare that Xenoblade's combat? I enjoyed Quest 64 so maybe I will enjoy Xenoblade after all?

Re: 'Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete' Arrives On Mobile This December

ChromaticDracula

I thoroughly enjoy the game, especially around October/November/December. I usually play it heavily around now and then delete it after this holiday stretch.
I just don’t care for mobile gaming so I ultimately delete it to free up room, etc.
I did sink hours upon hours into it though! It’s really fun and because it’s October/November/December again, I just redownloaded it and plan to buy it at the discount when able.

Re: Nintendo Download: 24th October (North America)

ChromaticDracula

Here just sitting and waiting for that sweet-looking Goblin Slayer game to release. Supposed to be tomorrow according to my calendar. After I post this comment I’m going to check and see if that’s still true. I expected to see that game mentioned in this article so now I’m nervous it got delayed!
UPDATE: Now releases 11/15 according to US eshop. That’ll be a tough, the week after Brothership releases. :: goes back to sitting and waiting ::
