Re: Amazon Pre-Order Listing Puts Pokémon Winds & Waves At €80

ChromaticDracula

It sort of turns my guts thinking this is some sort of market test to see how many people preorder at that price. The more people that preorder, the more “they’ll” say “we can charge this and people will pay it.”

It’s Pokémon so it’s not a test to see if there’s interest. They know there’s interest. It’s either a wild placeholder or a test. Or a nothing-burger.
Anyway, can’t wait to play a shiny new Pokémon on my shiny new switch 2, but let me be clear: I’m not paying $80 or $90 for it. I’ll gladly drop back and finish FireRed and wait for a sale!

Re: The Adventures Of Elliot: The Millennium Tales New 'Prologue Demo' Released

ChromaticDracula

It’s really good! I thought this was a turn based RPG, but it’s actually more like Zelda. That’s a big plus for me and it’s great to see that format in this style! My only complaint is the fairy who follows you is a bit annoying in terms of their dialogue. Still buying this, it’s surprisingly refreshing for me.

Oh yeah for those keeping track (I expect not even one person lol) I finally got a Switch 2 this past weekend thanks to Star Fox next month. WHAT UP, FAM!!

Re: Sonic The Hedgehog 4 Movie Officially Wraps Filming

ChromaticDracula

@Gamecuber agreed! 4 had potential for sure but I specifically remember the physics being like … “who okay’d this?!”

Never tried Episode 2 but I heard it was vastly improved. I also didn’t care for how they made it seem like a reboot or something. Like they scrapped everything and just started over. Where 2 improved on 1 and 3 improved on 2, it felt like 4 should have improved on 3 but it did not.

Mania is just so dang good. I need more of it!

Re: Sonic The Hedgehog 4 Movie Officially Wraps Filming

ChromaticDracula

Makes me wish we got a Sonic 4 game on par with the 3 prior. Sonic 3 & Knuckles is one of my favorite games of all time so the feeling of letdown when I saw the drop in quality in 4 (parts 1 and 2) was crushing. Seeing “Sonic 4” here is a bit triggering and I’m a little sensitive about it.
Here’s to hoping they do something with that trilogy’s storyline with the games someday!
About the movies, I still have sit down and watch these! I’ve only watched 3 on a long plane ride and it was entertaining enough.

Re: Opinion: Replaying Star Fox 64 Convinced Me A Switch 2 Remake Is A Good Idea

ChromaticDracula

I still play my N64 cart on Analogue 3D and have as recent as last week. I did an easy route run and am trying to gold medal all the levels again. Really gives my aging hands a good workout lol even back then in ‘97 it was tough for me…
I’ve entirely abandoned the NSO online apps because of the slow trickle. Decided to go out and get my own collection going instead of waiting years and years for the mere possibility that some of the deep classics will release (Rush 2049, Hybrid Heaven, Castlevania 64, etc.)
Can’t wait for this new Star Fox!!

Re: Nintendo Announces Sweeping Price Hikes For Switch 2

ChromaticDracula

If it wasn’t for the Starfox announcement, I’d not be bothered. I actually don’t even have a Switch 2 yet but I’m planning to get one shortly after Starfox releases as I’ve already preordered a physical copy without even having a Switch 2 yet. I think I’ll have one in hands by September…
I hate that this is happening, sad times indeed
As others are saying, not to be dramatic, but I’m probably out after this. I have an HDMI modded PS2, OG Switch, an Analogue 3D and pocket, and a PS5. Realistically, I DO NOT need another system at all, but that tells you how much I really love and want to play this new Starfox. …and the hopefully eventual Ocarina remake! Wife and I also want to get into Pokopia finally!

Re: Talking Point: Star Fox Zero Is 10 Years Old - Have You Actually Played It?

ChromaticDracula

I was on board with the game but I wanted them to remove the motion controls. My famous line was that the game was absolutely beautiful and the environments were overflowing with life and I felt like I was flying around a real planet. My issue with this was that we were forced to look away from it at a tiny square, reducing those environments down to a very tiny window for a lot of it.
If they got rid of the zoomed in targeting mechanism or somehow made it strictly a “player 2 controls” option thing, I’d be okay with that. (Like Mario Galaxy, player 1 controls Mario primary and player 2 can control strictly the star bit collecting motion controls). Don’t even give player 1 the option to do it. I realize this sort of requires retooling the game then… but that shows that the game has good bones.
I just hated looking at these massive beautiful environments and then having to shift my focus away from it all to look at the tiny gamepad screen and a tiny piece of it. So much going on the TV but I have to look over here instead. It was like forced ADHD. It was cumbersome and just took you out of the moment every time.

Re: Nintendo Expands Switch Online's NES Library With Three More Games

ChromaticDracula

Happy for ya’ll but for me this is too little too late. As others have said, Genesis and N64 haven’t been updated for quite some time. SNES too. Ive been a subscriber since the beginning but I’m letting my sub lapse in September. I’m getting to the point where I am coming up on my 40s and instead of waiting for the “good” games to release, I’m just going out and getting them myself.
At this rate, I’ll be 60 before we are able to play Castlevania 64 or Bomberman 64 on the N64 app.
EDIT: yes, I am legitimately buying the carts and discs, not going the illegal emulation route.

Re: Nintendo Will Be "Absolutely Furious" About Latest Leaks, Says Former PR Manager

ChromaticDracula

Leaked or not, it’s not hard to deduce that a new Zelda — a very well known one at that — would release to hype up the movie coming out. Same can be said with Fox in the Mario movie: might as well strike while the iron is hot and what a better time to showcase a new game with that probably new character for a lot of kids.
I still haven’t bought a Switch 2 but let me be 100% clear: I will be there day one for both a new Star Fox and Ocarina remake. 2 of my most favorite beloved franchises right there.

Re: Feature: No Love For Simisage? - The 47 Pokémon That Didn't Get A Single Vote In Our Polls

ChromaticDracula

I really can’t believe that the trash bag Pokémon and the ice cream Pokémon weren’t on this list. 🤔 shocked, actually….
I’d have put money down that those two at least would’ve made a least liked list.

Some of these deigns are really cool on this list but seeing some of them also reminds me of why I fell off the bandwagon after Gen 2. Some of them are just … eh, uninspired. Like, making more ‘mon for the sake of making more ‘mon. That never really rubbed me in a good way.

Re: Nintendo's Apparently Cutting US Switch 2 Output After Lower Than Expected Holiday Sales

ChromaticDracula

Like a lot are saying, I haven’t bought one yet because it’s expensive for a system that doesn’t have any must-have’s yet. I’m sure we’re getting some bangers (come on, it’s Nintendo after all!) sometime soon and at that point I’ll re-assess. I have a gut feeling an Ocarina of Time remake is coming to coincide with the movie and that’s going to be an insta-buy/system seller for me.
For now, I’m happy cart hunting and collecting up all my old GBA/N64 games with manuals. No internet required to download updates or this and that. Pop in the cart and go to town! Going to be hard to convince me I should go back to modern gaming with this groove I’m in. At the end of the day, I just want to sit down and play my games. Ok, I’ve trailed off here. Bye, fam.

Re: Brilliant And Brutal Puzzle Adventure Tunic Is Getting A Switch 2 Update

ChromaticDracula

I played and beat this on Switch 1. It is obviously the inferior version when comparing graphics/framerate with the PlayStation version but it was totally playable and enjoyable on Switch. It felt at home given that Zelda was clearly an inspiration. It is one of the best games I’ve played maybe ever, for numerous reasons and frankly, enjoyed it more than a lot of Zelda games. It’s DEEP.

That being said, I cannot wait to give this another go when I finally get a switch 2. It’ll be quite the upgrade and should be cool seeing all those missed graphical details I probably missed on the switch version!

Re: Talking Point: After 30 Years, Is It Time To Reset The Pokédex?

ChromaticDracula

The original 151 are and always will be my favorite. They actually made sense and were cool, mystical, and clever designs based on name play and pop culture. Even Gen 2 was pretty neat. After that, it gets a little foggy and to me, uninspired. (An ice cream cone? A bag of garbage?)
In any case, I’m agreeing with you about that one big thing: I usually assemble the same team based around my tried and true past favorites, regardless of which new ones pop up in the new games. I’m not saying to start anew but I would like to see a “reboot” in mechanics and design.
I’ve said this before but I’ll say it again: Cassette Beasts is an INCREDIBLE game. Fire attacks on plastic enemies makes poison, I think fire attacks on metal enemies makes them melt and changes their properties too… You can fuse beasts and make new ones like in Shin Megami Tensei… you can learn more than 4 moves… That’s the kind of stuff I want to see in Pokémon. I want the game to evolve as much as the monsters!

Re: Nintendo Expands Switch Online's Virtual Boy And GBA Library With Three More Titles

ChromaticDracula

Not to be a downer but this is why I’ve abandoned the service and started buying carts. Look, I 100% acknowledge this service is undoubtedly one of the best deals in gaming, but it’s always just too little, too late. Also, that grating having to check each NSO app in every week is annoying as hell. I got burned not once but twice because I took my switch lite with me on a plane and because I didn’t check EACH APP IN SEPARATELY BEFOREHAND, I couldn’t play some of the games I wanted to play on the flight. No internet = no check in = no games. If you don’t play it regularly it’s extremely time consuming opening each beforehand and having to sit through each one updating serially. I really wish they’d just require one check in and have that register across each NSO app.
So here I am collecting old carts again and frankly I’m having tons of fun with that even though I’m ultimately spending more money.

All that being said, these are some great games this release! No experience with the virtual boy games but I’m sure they are a lot of fun.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Duel - The Legend Of Zelda: Link's Awakening

ChromaticDracula

I’m so torn on this — AND IT SEEMS THE COMMUNITY IS AS WELL! 50-50 split!

The JP cover captures the silliness of the game for sure but the EN/EU version is just a stone-cold classic and unmistaken at any distance. Almost like you know it’s going to be good just looking at the colors from afar, not even reading the text.
I like both… perhaps I like the JP version more as a work of art/poster: colorful, fun, etc. Whereas the EN/EU version just works as a game cover art: Some mystery, consistency with other titles, etc. For that, I voted EN/EU.

Re: Missed Potential Or A Campy Classic? Switch 2 Exclusive 'Tokyo Scramble' Hasn't Been A Hit

ChromaticDracula

First I’m hearing of it, but I also: didn’t watch the direct, don’t have a switch 2, but do visit this site every day multiple times.
Maybe it’s the title of the game? I’d have glossed over it personally, it sounds like potential shovelware. Proving the point that new — potentially actually good — games have an exposure problem in the sea of shovelware.
Looking at this game now though, I think it looks fantastic! I’d buy it!

Re: Rumour: Switch Online GameCube Releases Might Have Been Leaked

ChromaticDracula

Why release Pikmin 2 when it’s already available on Switch???
Ok, if they’re going to do that, and have Pikmin 2 take up an entire slot, release a 3rd game that is not available elsewhere. This is Turok 2 all over again. It’s just stupid how we usually get games in pairs, and one of the only 2 is already available in an arguably better form.
Cool news for people that don’t own the switch version but really crappy for us diehards that already do.

Re: One Of The Best EarthBound-Inspired Indie RPGs Gets Switch Release Date

ChromaticDracula

This rocks!
I will be getting this for a few reasons. Some are: the overworld in the screenshots reminds me of the Ice King Adventure Time 3DS game — which was inspired by Zelda II. That game was underrated (or was it, I don’t know, I just know I loved it.) The color palette also reminds me of The Simpsons: Bart vs Space Mutants game on Genesis. Too much nostalgia to ignore here!

Re: Feature: I Play This One Particular SNES Game Every Xmas As A Personal Tradition

ChromaticDracula

I loved reading this, I love reading/hearing other’s gaming traditions. They should just rename Christmas Day to Video Game Day haha. (I know that wouldn’t go over well!)
I remember getting Turok 2, Rogue Squadron, and the gold Ocarina of time cart in 1998. The next year, in 1999, I was hoping for Resident Evil 2 but didn’t get it and I was upset. I ended up reluctantly playing Turok 2, the new game from the previous year, on Xmas day in 1999. Now, it’s my go to Xmas Eve and Day game because it just holds a lot of memories for me. Cassette Beasts is also now a big one from more recent times for me. It’s so cozy!
