Re: Poll: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Is Out On Switch 2 And Switch This Week, Will You Be Getting It?

ChromaticDracula

This is one of my top 3 franchises and I buy each one in the series without question. Hands down, point to where I need to swipe my credit card, no words needed. But…. This time, with a massive backlog, without a switch 2, with prices of things being so high, and being absolutely enthralled with Cronos, I’m fine waiting for the eventual ~$10/20 price cut after the hype dies down. Normally I’d have this preordered and be deep in gameplay by now but, I just can’t spend the $70-$80 this time.

Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting Animal Crossing: New Horizons - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition?

ChromaticDracula

@Spider-Kev I agree 99%: base game was lacking a ton of the standard animal crossing stuff but what was there was impactful and fulfilling still.
I feel like they jumped to release version “A” quickly during the pandemic knowing it would be a hit and that they could instead update it to version B and C slowly over time.
I was a little sour myself but it’s a really a great game at its current state finally.
All that being said, I loved new leaf the most. It was FULL of secrets and nooks and crannies on release. New horizons was par-baked on release but shouldn’t be ignored now as it’s about to reach its perfect final form.

Re: Retro Nintendo Games Are Returning To Animal Crossing (Sort Of)

ChromaticDracula

I love that these systems connect to NSO and you can actually play them! This was something talked about a while back and it’s actually happening!
Been really itching to play AC recently but just haven’t had the time. It’s that time of year for me… this news came at the exactly right time.
Now I just need a Switch 2…

Re: Survival Horror 'The Florist' Looks Like Classic Resident Evil In All The Right Ways

Unlimited inventory is a positive for me. I just want to experience the game and not have to backtrack constantly and all that. I understand that being an aspect of the tension but... nah, can't go back. Silent Hill 1/2/3 are examples of keeping the game scary while allowing unlimited inventory. Limited inventory is counter-intuitive to me. Like, carrying unlimited items around isn't okay but these chests that are all interlinked/connected somehow is (can access items I dropped in one from another?) I'll take my unlimited inventory, thank you!

Re: Review: Pokémon Legends: Z-A - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - Stellar Battles, But A Step Down From Arceus

ChromaticDracula

The criticism here about the restriction to a single city is exactly why I decided in the very beginning to not get this any time soon. I’ve always enjoyed Pokémon because of the varying environments and going to a snow area or a lava area or a lake, etc. Without that, I’m not really driven to jump on this one just yet. I also don’t have a Switch 2 yet 😬…
Seems like this will be fun when I eventually pick it up on a sale though!

Re: Random: This Upcoming PS5 'Cozy Life Sim' Certainly Rings A Bell

ChromaticDracula

I think a lot of people miss the point of why this is a problem.
Animal Crossing is a very kid friendly game with very distinct, considered, and unique look.
Any knockoff copying that exact look can use the look but potentially have non-kid friendly content in it.
The issue is when the copycat starts having screenshots pop up of the non-kid-friendly content, or just something not within the original Animal Crossing vision and you can’t tell the difference between the games.
In this example, most folks will see the picture above and say “oh wow it’s animal crossing!” Imagine if the character had a racy outfit on or had a speech bubble with expletives inside it. The average joe sees that and starts thinking “wow Animal Crossing changed!”

Nobody should be copying that distinct look. Copy the gameplay but don’t copy the art style. They should be distinguishable from each other. This is a blatant ripoff.

Another example: nobody got mad when Axiom Verge released even though it had essentially the same gameplay as Metroid.
If your character looked like a reskinned Samus, it’d be a different story.

Game is a 9/10 for me. It’s brutally difficult even on normal for me though: first play, I used all my lives on level 1. Second play I got to level 3 and was utterly obliterated within the first 3 minutes or so. I’m thinking of dropping down to Easy just to beat the game once or twice, then I’ll ramp it up.
I’m also someone who has a very hard time with Thunder Force 3 though. Anyway, it’s been a long time coming and I’m absolutely stoked to play it and get further and further (and hopefully better lol).

Re: Shinobi: Art Of Vengeance To Get Classic SEGA Villains Stage DLC Next Year

ChromaticDracula

This sort of kind of works since some of the bosses in Revenge were takes on famous personalities… Spider-man being one example. Isn’t there also like a Sonic and tails (or maybe a Mario) statue in that one level in the background in Shinobi 3?
I can’t for the life of me find it online though! Point being, makes sense in a sort of Easter eggy/traditional way to have this kind of DLC/bonus content.

Re: Random: Oh Jeez, Now Palworld Has Its Own Rip-Off On The Switch eShop

ChromaticDracula

Isn’t the argument that Palworld isn’t ripping off Pokémon but it’s ripping off Pokémon’s designs? I can see a Charizard/Charizard-like in the background in one of the screenshots on this “game” above. I’ve seen screenshots of what appear to be Pokémon holding full-on guns in screenshots of Palworld. I’m sure that’s not the image Nintendo want associated with their designs.

Re: Random: Oh Jeez, Now Palworld Has Its Own Rip-Off On The Switch eShop

ChromaticDracula

@ShieldHero have you not read any of the articles? It’s not easy to just ignore, in fact, we want to hide entire publishers. Why? Because this slop prevents other actual games with work and thought put into them from showing. You haven’t sift through this crap which tends to hide the actual releases. Publishers have been interviewed about this and they say, yes, it’s tough to be noticed in the sea of trash.

Yes, you can ignore it, but you’re potentially also ignoring and scrolling past actual effort.

Re: Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound Will "Average" 30fps On Switch

ChromaticDracula

@SalvorHardin I really do wish this were above 30 on average but being able to play it handheld makes it the winner for me among the consoles, even with the 30fps average. Wish it was 60 but not a dealbreaker. In the end, reviews will speak for it and hopefully light a fire under their butts to optimize better next time.

@DemonKow I definitely understand there is likely some optimization stuff going on here and there’s really no reason this kind of game shouldn’t be averaging above 30, even running at 60 most of the time. That’s definitely an issue!
