I always hate it when they have a unique game idea and smack on a familiar IP for the sake of recognition. Kirby really seems the #1 go-to guy for these types of games.
An average score between 70 and 80 was to be expected. It has a bit more meat to its bones than the original, but the core gameplay remains kinda limited.
Still nice that they chose to revive such a niche game. I hope it sells fairly well.
I got the Switch 2, but I still use my old Switch when I leave the house. The Switch 2 is massive, totally impractical for portable gaming. Plus the battery life is awful.
The game looked great. But the fact they didn't show split screen for City Trial is a bit concerning. It's gonna be an instant pass without this option...
“I get that it sucks and no one is happy, but people should see game keys for what they are ... a game that WAS NOT going to get a physical release, period, getting a game key as a compromise.”
That seems like a pretty shaky assumption. Maybe the rare indie title, but for big publishers? Seems highly unlikely. They just go with the cheapest, easiest option—as businesses tend to do.
And yeah, when those decisions clearly don’t benefit consumers, it’s no surprise people get frustrated. If you’re fine with it, that’s good for you—but it doesn’t mean the criticism isn’t valid.
I’m sorry to say that I feel a cancellation might be for the best. The trailer didn’t really spark excitement, and I doubt it would come close to the quality of the original game.
I never said it needs to be exactly like the Country games or that it can't innovate—far from it. But if the game would've had a completely different branding, I think nobody would've associated the gameplay with the Donkey Kong series at all (aside from the 2D sections, perhaps).
Honestly, to me it comes across as one of those situations where they developed a fun gameplay concept first and then started brainstorming which IP to attach to it.
Just my fair criticism—I still think the gameplay looks genuinely fun.
Gameplay matters most. Still, it’s kinda disappointing to hear there may already be some technical flaws present in one of their most prominent releases for a brand new system…
I don’t like the principle of review bombing. But if you release a product for such a premium price and it fails to meet expectations, I can understand people like to have their voice heard.
Sadly, Nintendo gamers seem to be getting the short end of the stick once again.
I was hoping the Switch 2 would shift things in a better direction, but with the lack of upgrade paths and the introduction of Game Keys, third party efforts feel more disappointing than ever.
Received the survey. I have no real issues with the hardware except one major one, being that the system isn't usable as a handheld at all, due to the enormous size and poor battery life. Hopefully a future revision can fix those things.
Being the sucker for gimmicks that I am, I got one of these, but I have to be honest and say it feels very overpriced for what it is. It sorta gives me Apple vibes, where you pay extra just for the branding...
I still can’t shake the feeling that it’s more of a Switch 1.5, even after testing out all the new shenanigans. But I’ve came to accept it. Hardware just isn’t going to make major leaps anymore.
Game-Keys are a huge turn-off though. There are almost no proper physical games so far!
@GrailUK Unfortunately, that's often not being voiced in a respectful way. A lot of the comments against him come across as unnecessarily aggressive and I feel they even cross the line into cyberbullying sometimes. If he's truly violating the community guidelines like you say, that's something moderators can address. There’s no need for a bandwagon of users piling on him every time he shares his opinion. If anything, that kind of behavior feels far more disruptive to the community. Just to be clear, I don’t mean you personally—this is more about the overall tone I’ve seen. Just my two cents.

Re: Switch 2 Exclusive 'Drag x Drive' Scores Its Second Major Update, Here's What's Included
I really regret purchasing this game. It’s soulless and just not fun at all to play. Nintendo-unworthy.
Re: New 'Sonic Universe' Movie Spin-Off Announced For 2028
They’re rushing them out so quickly one after another, this can’t go well much longer.
Re: Here's Another Look At Elden Ring Running On Switch 2
Sounds like it still isn’t quite there yet.
Oh well, Game Key = instant skip anyway.
Re: Review: Assassin's Creed Shadows (Switch 2) - An Ambitious Port Of A Captivating Series Refresh
Nice to see they did a decent job with this one.
Game Key = No Buy though!
Re: Opinion: City Trial Is Kirby Air Riders At Its Best, But It Needs More Maps To Thrive Long-Term
I could live with just one map, it’s just that the asking price for the game feels a bit too steep for what you’re getting content-wise.
Re: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond - Meet The Team
@OmnitronVariant @poyo_pie
The Prime games aren’t part of the mainline series though. They’re considered a “sub saga” according to Sakamoto.
If you look at the Dread page on Nintendo’s own website, the Prime games are also left out of the timeline completely.

Re: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond - Meet The Team
Very off putting, to be honest. Metroid should be about an isolated feel, not some cheesy space soap.
I hope the game will still be good, but there are a lot of red flags…
Re: Feature: The Tightest, Briskest Mario & Luigi Game Turns 20 Today And Deserves More Love
Not as good as its predecessor nor successor, that sums it up nicely. Still a fun game though.
Re: Best Kirby Games Of All Time
I always hate it when they have a unique game idea and smack on a familiar IP for the sake of recognition. Kirby really seems the #1 go-to guy for these types of games.
Re: Switch 2 Black Friday Deals Are A Bit 'Meh', But Here Are The Best We've Seen
Given how overpriced everything Nintendo related is these days, I had hoped for some better deals.
I guess they’re in the luxury position that their stuff sells like hot cakes either way.
Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Kirby Air Riders?
A solid 7.
It has a nice polished feel and it’s a bit more substantial than the first one.
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - SNES Classic Mini Console
That green age sticker on the European box is so ugly and overly prominent… Imagine them on a game box, it takes up so much space.
Which country are those from?
Re: Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade's File Size On Switch 2 Is Making Us Sweat
Yikes. Switch 2 doesn't feel future proof with these game sizes, especially if these developers are forcing to go all digital...
Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Kirby Air Riders
An average score between 70 and 80 was to be expected. It has a bit more meat to its bones than the original, but the core gameplay remains kinda limited.
Still nice that they chose to revive such a niche game. I hope it sells fairly well.
Re: Feature: How Mega Starmie Became The Internet's New Queer Icon
I can’t believe how bad this Mega design looks. Feels like it’s created by an intern within a few hours.
The memes are pretty funny though! At least some good came out of it.
Re: Top 100 Nintendo Games, As Chosen By Nintendo Life & IGN
Some entries made me chuckle. But it could’ve been worse I suppose.
Re: Preview: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Is Great, But I Want To Kill One Of Its Characters
Feels like they’re straying way too far from the core Metroid formula… I hope for the best, but I fear the worst.
Re: Sony Once Again Takes A Leaf From Nintendo's Playbook In Japan
Region locking, mandatory online connections, day-on patches, Game-Key cards… Why do they have to make gaming so much hassle?
Re: Octopath Traveler 0 Demo Now Available For Switch And Switch 2, Save Data Carries Over
It feels like it’s coming too soon after the previous entry. I’m not thirsty for more yet.
Re: Pokémon Pokopia Gets March 2026 Release Date, Brand New Trailer Coming This Week
Ugh, 70 bucks for a Game-Key Card, no thanks!
Re: Pokémon Pokopia Is Seemingly Nintendo's First Game-Key Card Release
Game Key = Hard pass.
Sucks to see how anti-consumer they are becoming. It would have easily fitted on a card.
Re: Opinion: Third-Party Support For Switch 2 Is Already A Dream Come True
A dream come true? More like an absolute nightmare. It’s nothing but Game Key Cards and awful upgrade paths!
Re: Nintendo Is Preparing For Even More Movies In The Future, Unsurprisingly
No surprise here, now that they struck gold Nintendo’s milking their franchises for all their worth.
Fingers crossed they will keep the quality decent.
Re: Nintendo: 84% Of Switch 2 Players Transitioned From The Original Switch
I got the Switch 2, but I still use my old Switch when I leave the house. The Switch 2 is massive, totally impractical for portable gaming. Plus the battery life is awful.
Re: Switch 2 Has The Largest Third-Party Software Lineup Ever For New Nintendo Hardware
Biggest lineup, smallest effort. Nothing but Game Key Cards, what a joke.
Re: Official Box Art For Kirby Air Riders Revealed, Price And File Size Confirmed
@YunoboCo Agreed, split screen multiplayer is an absolute must for City Trial. Without this option it's gonna be a hard pass.
Re: Kirby Air Riders Zooms Onto Switch 2 This November
The game looked great. But the fact they didn't show split screen for City Trial is a bit concerning. It's gonna be an instant pass without this option...
Re: Kirby Air Riders' City Trial Mode Looks Just As Bonkers As We'd Hoped
I'm concerned they didn't confirm split screen multiplayer for City Trial. Other than that, it looked absolutely fantastic.

Re: Switch Port Specialist Believes Switch 2 Can Surpass Its Predecessor's Success
@RiasGremory Whining about people whining is even more obnoxious. Comment sections are for sharing opinions, you don’t have to agree with them.
Re: Talking Point: One Month On, How Did Nintendo's Switch 2 Launch Go?
There’s some good, some bad and some ugly.
It feels more premium than I came to expect from Nintendo products. But on the other hand, prices also became pretty aggressive.
The screen and battery are an unfortunate downgrade, but I can live with it.
The flood of Game-Keys is awful though - they didn’t exactly pick a future-proof medium with their new and expensive SD-cards.
Re: Perfect Dark Voice Actor Calls On Fans To Help Series "Survive"
I’m sorry to say that I feel a cancellation might be for the best. The trailer didn’t really spark excitement, and I doubt it would come close to the quality of the original game.

@N00BiSH
I never said it needs to be exactly like the Country games or that it can't innovate—far from it. But if the game would've had a completely different branding, I think nobody would've associated the gameplay with the Donkey Kong series at all (aside from the 2D sections, perhaps).

Re: Furukawa's Defence Of Game-Key Cards Ain't All That Convincing
Game not on card = no buy. Simple as that.
Re: Round Up: The Final Previews Are In For Donkey Kong Bananza
Gameplay matters most. Still, it’s kinda disappointing to hear there may already be some technical flaws present in one of their most prominent releases for a brand new system…
Let’s wait for the reviews though.
Re: Preview: Donkey Kong Bananza - DK's Getting His Own Odyssey, And It's A Helluva Trip
Gameplay looks original, but I’m just not sure if this really feels like a DK game. It kinda feels like they just smacked the DK branding on it.
Re: Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition Release Date Could Be Revealed Soon, As Switch 2 Rating Spotted
No Game-Key please! Then I’ll definitely get it.
Re: Look, Maybe We Should Stop Asking For A Sonic Adventure Remaster
As much as I loved the game back in the day, I have to say he’s right. Not everything needs a remake anyway.
Re: Of Course Mario Kart World Is Being Review Bombed
I don’t like the principle of review bombing. But if you release a product for such a premium price and it fails to meet expectations, I can understand people like to have their voice heard.
Re: 27 Upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 Games We're Excited For In 2025
Nice that the article clearly mentions if the games are getting a physical release.
Re: Feature: Every Switch 2 Launch Game, Ranked
Overall a very poor launch lineup. Mostly old titles, a lot of Game Keys, and even Mario Kart appears to underwhelm a lot of players.
Time to step up a notch.
Re: Little Nightmares 3 And Little Nightmares Enhanced Edition Announced For Switch 2
Sadly, Nintendo gamers seem to be getting the short end of the stick once again.
I was hoping the Switch 2 would shift things in a better direction, but with the lack of upgrade paths and the introduction of Game Keys, third party efforts feel more disappointing than ever.
Re: Smash Bros. Director Sakurai Laments 'Unsustainable' AAA Game Dev, Discusses AI And Uncertainty
I never liked the “bigger better” mentality in the first place.
Scaling back and focusing on quality over quantity would be welcomed by me.
Re: Where Are Mario Kart World's Non-Mario Racers? Producer Kosuke Yabuki Has The Answer
Yeah, right. It seems pretty obvious they are just withholding some beloved characters to pump out future DLC.
Re: Donkey Kong Bananza Direct: Every Announcement - How Would You Rate It?
Not a fan of the animal transformation mechanic. It doesn’t really make sense. Having them as a buddy was much more logical.
Gameplay wise things look very good though!
Re: Nintendo Survey Asks Switch 2 Users About Their Experience So Far
Received the survey. I have no real issues with the hardware except one major one, being that the system isn't usable as a handheld at all, due to the enormous size and poor battery life. Hopefully a future revision can fix those things.
Oh, and Game-Keys of course.
Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Mario Kart World?
7 / 10
The open world is a turn-off, I feel like it's only included to justify the premium price. Other than that, it's great fun as always.
Re: Review: Nintendo Switch 2 Camera - An Elegant But Nonessential GameChat Companion
Being the sucker for gimmicks that I am, I got one of these, but I have to be honest and say it feels very overpriced for what it is. It sorta gives me Apple vibes, where you pay extra just for the branding...
Re: Hardware Review: Nintendo Switch 2 - A Faster, Slicker, Sexier Switch
I still can’t shake the feeling that it’s more of a Switch 1.5, even after testing out all the new shenanigans. But I’ve came to accept it. Hardware just isn’t going to make major leaps anymore.
Game-Keys are a huge turn-off though. There are almost no proper physical games so far!
