Re: Ex-PlayStation Boss On Switch 2's Name: Nintendo Created So Much "Brand Value"

8bit-Man

@Simone93 Just because the Wii U name was a bad choice, does not mean only a number is a valid naming convention.

They’ve proven this multiple times in the past. Super Nintendo, GameBoy Advance and 3DS were all great names for iterative systems. They didn’t confuse anyone, yet still managed to refer to the original branding and convey the message that they are the next big thing.

Re: Random: Local Supermarket Wins Trademark Battle Against Nintendo

As always everyone is inclined to root for the underdog, but to be honest, I can understand where they’re coming from. The term “Super Mario” has become such a household term, everyone automatically associates it with the character.

I’m not saying they are always in the right, but it does make perfect sense that they try to defend their IP.

Re: Xbox Is "Really Looking Forward" To Supporting Switch 2

@Zenibeans I feel you. I totally get the sentiment. It also broke my gamer heart when SEGA fell apart and started publishing their iconic titles on every device they could. This XBox situation is giving me the same feeling. It’s a bit sad, even desperate. I hope they can bounce back.

Vivian is a great character, happy to see the censorship removed!

@Smithicus
Yes, I agree, most people seem to be against it. And I don't think it's because they are actually opposed to inclusion, but due to the ways how corporations are mishandling it and trying to force it down everyone's throat in unnatural ways. (DragonAge, anyone?)
Things like that only trigger anti-responses.

Nintendo does it at their own way. They've always been inclusive. I don't feel there's any hidden agenda there. Just look at Birdo, that character has been around since decades.

Re: Switch 2's Magnetic Joy-Con Connection Was Originally An Idea For Switch

8bit-Man

@-wc- I can totally relate to your frustration. Though I personally feel like this issue has been present for a longer time. The Wii (U) components for example, weren't exactly high quality either.

I also solely play the Switch docked. The tradeoffs for having the hybrid features aren't worth it for me at all. But that's just the way it is, unfortunately.

Re: Switch 2's Magnetic Joy-Con Connection Was Originally An Idea For Switch

@-wc- As Nintendo fans, these kind of concessions we (sadly) have to accept in order to enjoy their games.

You're asking for controls for serious people, but that's the issue right there, Nintendo doesn't focus purely on "serious" people anymore. Their device is designed to cater to a group as broad as possible - families, kids, casual players, handheld players and hardcore gamers. As a result, it's a console of compromises.

Re: Nintendo's Surprise Switch 2 Trailer Is On Track To Surpass 20 Million Views

8bit-Man

I agree with @sleepinglion, the trailer was underwhelming. I hope the Direct is going to make up for it with some amazing games.

@IOI Why aren’t we allowed to feel underwhelmed by the hardware reveal? The new console is looking more conservative than many hoped for, so it’s a natural feeling to be a bit disappointed, especially without seeing proper games.

When the Direct has aired and we’ve seen what it can actually do, perhaps there will be more excitement. That doesn’t mean we can’t have opinions about the current state of things.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Mario Kart 64

The European version actually differs a bit from the NA version. The EU doesn’t have a banner running across the art on the right side of the box, and it has a black frame around the image.

The difference is minimal, but still it would have been nice to see all the options.

Re: Reaction: Nintendo Pins Hopes On Familiar Fun With Switch 2

8bit-Man

At the very least, they could've given the system a more appealing name than just smacking a "2" behind it. The argument of avoiding confusion like the Wii U doesn't hold much water.

The "Super Nintendo" and "Game Boy Advance", for example, did a great job telling people it's the next big thing without creating any confusion whatsoever.
