Nintendo of America has been a little later than normal with its download update, but it's finally here. There are retro options on both Wii U and 3DS, free DLC and some additional new options on the portable's store; bizarrely, a couple of older titles have also been included. Throw in some substantial Ubisoft discounts and even a DSiWare comeback, and there are some decent choices. (Update: My Style Studio: Hair Salon is also now on Wii U eShop, not 3DS eShop as originally stated below.)

Missed the European download news earlier in the week? Put down that panic sign and check them out right here.

Wii U eShop

My Style Studio: Hair Salon (Cypronia, $4.99) — This was released last year on 3DS, but has now arrived on the Wii U. We'll take a look, and in the meantime you can read our 3DS eShop My Style Studio: Hair Salon review.

Wii U Virtual Console

Dr. Mario (Nintendo, $4.99) — The classic NES version of the puzzle game lands on the Wii U, bringing some retro "vitamin capsule" colour matching to the latest home console. It's the first appearance of this version on the Virtual Console (in North America), with WiiWare getting a fresh release and the Game Boy iteration landing on the 3DS; we felt it was a tough sell in our Dr. Mario review.

Wii U DLC

Sonic Lost World (Sega, free) — Following previous Yoshi-themed free DLC, owners of this Wii U version can now download The Legend of Zelda Zone at no cost. It promises Sonic in a Link outfit, cameo appearances from Link and a more open-world approach to level design. Did we say it was free? Yes, yes we did.

3DS eShop

Skater Cat (Teyon, $4.99) — If you like happy looking cats, this may be a game for you. Developed by FUN UNIT, this looks like a side-scrolling runner with 25 levels to take on; you can also exchange and race Ghost times through StreetPass and SpotPass, as well as race with your Mii. We'll see if it leaves us feline good (apologies) in our review.

I am an Air Traffic Controller Airport Hero Hawaii (Sonic Powered Co., $19.99) — There's a proper game title for you, seizing the crown as possibly the longest on the 3DS eShop. As it explains, you are an air traffic controller, and a hero, in Hawaii. We'll get to work in this air traffic sim for a review.

Cube Tactics (Teyon, $4.99) — Only Nintendo knows why it's listed this title again after its initial release two weeks ago, but we will too. We rather enjoyed it in our Cube Tactics review.

3DS Virtual Console

Clu Clu Land (Nintendo, $4.99) — This is an action puzzle game from the early days of the NES, in which you manoeuvre bubbles by throwing them around the stage. This can also be played with a friend, but the fiddly controls contribute to an underwhelming impact, as explained in our Wii U Virtual Console Clu Clu Land review.

3DS eShop Demo

Ubisoft eShop Discounts

Ubisoft has discounted 18 titles on both Wii U and 3DS until 31st March, check out all of the details here.

DSiWare

I am in the Movie (Moragami, 200 Points) — This looks like a rather fun app to make use of your DSi camera (or 3DS in 2D), in which you film yourself and then filter the footage with a variety of iconic movie effects. We'll practice our Oscar acceptance speech and work on a review.
