@BenAV I agree with you. I understand things need delayed sometimes, but I think some of the Indie titles will really be impacted negatively now that a big title like MH3U is finally out. It is a shame too because it would have really done a nice job of filling in that January/February game drought we had. I'll probably look into it if it goes on sale at some point.
I think Zen really missed a great opportunity. There was very little for the Wii U for months and delaying the release of ZP2 until 2 days after Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate will really impact what could have been. Back in January I had over $20 ready to go for Zen tables, now I'm content to wait for them to go on sale as I will be hunting monsters for the next several months.
@DePapier It is a fun game. I like Move Like Jagger myself. I'm up to 4 stars on it, but my wife still kills me at it.
It is pretty heavy. 15GB. But I got a 1TB external connected so I'm ok.
@Luffy Nintendo does not recommend SD cards for additional storage because they have a limited number of read/write cycles. So if you use it to store a game you will end up burning it through normal use. That is why the external HD is better because you can read/write/delete to a much greater degree.
I ended up grabbing the 1TB Western Digital drive on the compatible list at Staples for $55. Works like a dream and matches my Black Wii U perfectly, blue LED and all.
I'm confident that this is happening because Zen has been feeding us the "coming soon" line for the past 3 months. We have never seen an actual date, so I'm sure this will happen next Thursday. Although since MH3U will be released 2 days before that I'm not nearly as excited about it.
@Tech101 Actually I went back and watched it. At 31:45 they started talking about Zen Pinball with the words "Also in February" and as the video of tables were shown the words "Available this month" appeared in the subtitle. I suppose if you want to be technical the subtitle will be correct because whenever it does release it will be "this month"
I think Ubisoft proved where their loyalty lies and it wasn't with their developers. So I have no problem at all if that team feels they would like to explore their options.
Honestly, I don't believe the Wii U is in a position to take on anything yet. There simply aren't enough games and if the delays we have seen at launch continue, then when we get to the 2013 holiday season, the promised games will still be promises.
@AlmightyDerek You foolishly believe things will happen just because the company responsible for making it happen and announcing they will make it happen will then make it happen.
According to the developers initial blog, I've been playing Zen Pinball on the Wii U since December. @Svengoolie And that puts Nintendo in a bit of a bind because in last week's Nintendo Direct they said both would be available this month. I think the only solution they have is to delay both titles until Q2. Gezzz, too much Ubisoft rage still floating around.
@Bankai I agree. I really like Nintendo but they seem to be way behind the curve on some things. I wish they would recognize that something they didn't come up with works and implement it.
@Majin-Naruto So that is different than Rayman Origins vs. Rayman Legends? I'm not trying to prove any point by saying that, I'm honestly asking for purposes of educating myself.
Ok, can I ask a question about this whole MS is the cause of this? Ninja Gaiden 3 Razor Edge was released 11/18/12 as a Wii U launch title. On 2/6/13 Tecmo Koei Europe announced the game would be released on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on 4/2/13. But how is that possible with this MS policy?
The Release Rayman petition just hit 10,000. It is funny, I don't recall seeing the petition that PS3/360 owners started that caused Ubisoft to make the decision to "give the fans what they wanted"
@Tech101 I think they fell into the Sarlacc Pit on the new Boba Fett table from Zen. There they will learn a new definition of pain and suffering as they are slowly digested over 1,000 years. Oh wait, that is happening on their FB page.
@MrWalkieTalkie They seem content to lay there and take the beating for the last 4 days. We'll just have to see how long that works for them. I'll set the over/under at 12 days.
Wow! I wonder how long Ubisoft feels they can keep silent. If they expect to make an announcement about anything other than reversing the delay on FB they will be buried in negative comments.
@GiftedGimp Oh it is coming. When it is a different story. Zen has also verified that DLC is coming for Pinball 3D for the 3DS back in September. If you were to ask Barbie about it today she will say.......It is coming. @ngamer155 Great question. I have absolutely no inside information on it but I really don't think we will see it in Feb.
@Schprocket I can't really say that I am fretting. Just disappointed. So much was made of the Wii U being sold at a loss and it becomes profitable once the first game is purchased. Seems like Nintendo would be more interested more selection out there.
@Schprocket hummm, yeah that could make you feel like your boarded a ship too early (much like I am feeling) Obviously it worked out for you as the PS3 has a great library. I don't care for FPS and games with blood and gore so that is one of the reasons I was interested in Nintendo. I really love some of the features of the PS3 and the 360 as I feel they really have a much better handle on online gaming then Nintendo does.
@Schprocket Glad you brought that up, can I ask you something? In those early days was the internet saying the PS3 was doomed and would put Sony in the grave? I'm really not trying to pick a fight here because if it is "No, everyone had faith that it would gain traction" then that means nothing has really changed and by and large there are always going to be calamity howlers. If the answer was "Yes, we heard the same thing" then I'll be happy because PS3 seemed to end up doing ok and the Wii U will too.
@SilverLightning I have 2. Looking forward to Zen Pinball being released. Honestly, if you think about at it is pretty sad. This is not a knock on ZP at all, I think it is a really well designed game and I'm anxious to get it. But I have a brand new shiny HD home console and I've been beaten down to wanting to play a virtual pinball game on it.....and I can't even do that.
@Tech101 I hear you buddy. I'll have to find the Nintendo Direct you are mentioning. In either case, trying to get any actual information out of the first line of customer response is a pointless quest. Anyone that is interested in a game and does any research on the internet will know more about it then the person they answering the email they send to NoA.
@Tech101 I thought the exact same thing. In that email exchange NoA was just giving standard replies, but without reading the previous email chain they were just contradicting themselves. I have notice that Zen's responses about the NA release has gone from "Coming very soon" to "Hopefully this month" As far as it being in their Nintendo Direct, it is available in EU so they can say that is what they were referring to.
@Will-75 Back when we were continuing to be told it would be in January I said I would be playing the MH3U demo before any ZP2 here in the States. Now I'm thinking I'll be playing the full MH3U game first. NoA is the hold up. I've contacted them directly and got a cut and paste reply that led me to believe it may not come at all. When I responded for clarification I was told it is estimated for Q1. I responded again citing the fact that there is very little for Wii U players, esp with the RL disaster putting us into March before anything new. I got a reply similar to the first one that basically said it may not show up in NA, there may not be enough interest.
@Bankai No one cares that it is multi-platform. No one cares that other consoles get it. A finished game sitting on the shelf for 7 months while owners have very little to play is the issue. Release the Wii U version now since it is done and release the other versions when they are ready. They do it all of the time when PS360 is first. Why do they want to avoid taking money from Wii U owners for 7 months during a time there is very little out there?
Because most of us don't have the attention span and memory of a moth, this is the statement that irritated me:
"In this case, Ubisoft recently decided they wanted to release the game on multiple platforms so the decision was made to launch them all at the same time rather than separately. I know it's not an elaborate, 'convincing' answer, but it's the simple truth."
Reading this and seeing that recently Ubisoft didn't bat an eye releasing DLC for AC3 for the PS360 base and still no word on the Wii U front is extremely telling. The last statement should have read:
"PS3 and 360 owners are more important to us, it's the simple truth."
Their post on Facebook is getting hit with just as many comments, basically arguing against the delay. My questions are: Isn't Farcry 3 and Watchdogs from Ubisoft? Didn't Wii U fans want those games and aren't you wanting to give the fans what they want? Did you delay the release of those games so they would be multi-platform?
If he is expecting a price drop than I would anticipate we won't see any Ubisoft games for the PS4 or 720 as those will be considerably higher priced. Having the game on multiple platforms doesn't bother most people, it is delaying the game that has the Nintendo crowd up in arms.
@AceSpadeS Yeah, I didn't take it that way. I just wanted to comment that for myself, I have no problem whatsoever with a company wanting their product to be on as many systems as possible. That is just good business sense. Sitting on a finished game for 7 months without really giving a reason or offering an apology is not.
@Ryo_Hazuki-san We have been promised the world, it is the delivering that is the issue. In the recent Nintendo Direct the president stated he recognized the responsibility to provide a constant stream of games. All we have seen are promised titles and dates that continue to slip.
