I believe that saleswise all of these consoles will perform comparably . They are all trying to compete for customers .Many of which are on very tight budgets. Release on holiday time is fine if it was ten years ago . What working class Parent is going to buy a 600 dollar console when there are bills to pay ? Not to mention the stress of buying gifts for other people.

In the business of gaming Nintendo is the innovator and everyone knows it . Sony knows it , Microsoft knows it , cnn knows it , Pachter knows it , we know it.
These articles are getting annoying . If Nintendo ever went out of business the heart and soul of gaming in general would be lost . These guys act as if Nintendo is new to this .

It's imperative that nintendo release games that are not currently available on the original wii VC . There isn't anything eyecatching on the wii u VC right now . Good games yes , but released about hundred times already . At least it seems that way .
The wiiu VC can be great . Release arcade games that couldn't be released on wii because of hardware limitations . How about sega saturn games , Dreamcast , gamecube (this should be a given , hurry up with this) . Super mario world is great now how about super mario sunshine . Come on nintendo let that wiiu VC shine already stop holding back .

Bring something that hasn't appeared on the wii VC like pro gear.

The only games that play reasonably well on tablets in my opinion are shmups . They lend themselves well to touch screen controls , dodonpachi resurrection , Espgaluda and other cave shmups are a testament to that and they play exceptionally on my tablet . Shmups are a niche market though and don't represent all games .
I would go fully retro gaming in 2017 if tablet/mobile gaming took over . I just don't see people trading in gaming on their UHD 4k screens in the future for a gaming tablet or phone .

Sin and punishment 2 was pretty short , but I would be hard pressed to find very many games that can compete with it as far as pure fun goes. This game is right up my alley and one of the few games that could possibly tear me away from mh3u .Now release date already please !

This looks an awful lot like rayman jungle run for android and ios . An endless running app where you collect lums and try for the best times doesn't have any appeal to me . I hope others enjoy it though .

@SkywardLink98 Sorry but I'm not buying that . Every company has to reinvent itself at some point , take car manufactures for instance . GM and Ford have had to extensively change the way they manufacture cars in order to stay relevant . The reason being they got comfortable with their business model until it blew up in their face . The grampa style cars they were developing along with cheap quality parts were costing them dearly with the competition . Again , they got too comfortable AKA lazy until finally GM notably cried out "please bail us out we promise to make better cars".

Big game developers are no different . They may have profitable franchises (a handful of samey pew pew FPS and sports) that are especially developed for other consoles , but when it comes time to evolve they may find themselves crying for help . Yes they do what's profitable but it doesn't change the fact that they have become very VERY lazy .
Inovative ubisoft dev : "hey I have an idea for a game that could be fun and different"
Ubisoft exec: "what's that?"
Inovative ubisoft dev : "Killer freaks from outer space! It's a game where you fight all manner of different aliens in the future . It's a survival horror but we'll throw in some humor use the Wii U gamepad and try create something new and fresh we even have some other ideas ..."
Ubisoft exec: "That sounds like a good idea but in instead of aliens lets make it a game about a zombie outbreak . Lets change the location from outer space to london and throw in a cricket bat instead of a baseball bat now THAT would be a good game that's never been done before . Am I right ?"

@Gamer83 DMC , Metal gear rising , tomb raider , Bioshock infinite vs Metroid , Zelda , mario , Fzero . You can't act as if the other franchises don't exist . When the new versions of the latter four games are released the games you mentioned will seem insignificant . Lets be real , most game developers envy the success of nintendo franchises thats why they always hate on nintendo . They would love nothing more for these franchises to end up on their systems . Why should big n fans care about some crappy redundant zombie game thats been done and redone a million times ? Even if it was released on wiiu I sure wouldn't be one to say "great another generic game we need more of those " hell no !

@MrWalkieTalkie Retro I would trust with ANY nintendo franchise . I also think wayforward could make a good starfox game . Two tribes ? Hmmmm don't know about that.

@EOTW I felt the exact same way . I was also used to the wiimote and nunchuck but after an hour or so the new controls started to grow on me . After several playing sessions I now feel like a more than competent player . It takes some getting used to but you'll get it . However if the full game has the option for wiimote and nunchuck I'm all over that ! Players who used the classic controller in tri should feel right at home .

@WaveBoy Hey thanks for summing up the way I feel. So as a reply to @Shanksta and in answer to his question "what makes rayman mediocre ?" I will kindly refer him to the well put reply that you made to magicemperor . It seems obvious from certain comments the difference between those who have played platformers for several gaming generations and those that only played them for a generation or 2 .

We won't get anymore of their mediocre games ? They owe US the customer , we don't owe them anything . So this "buy our game or else we won't make anymore" attitude that people keep projecting onto ubisoft is uncalled for .

@tealovertoma I was speaking in general using rayman legends as an example . Do you really think that any company losing a large amount of money from consumers not buying their products will fail to take notice ? Who keeps them in business ? Unless they print their own money .

I'm sorry but I just can't support this anti consumer attitude from companies like ubisoft . The game was done you should have released it . Now you release an extra mode of the game in April ? Why not release that NOW to appease customers .
Rayman legends will be the last thing on my mind come April as I will be neck deep in MHTU . For the individuals saying "you're dumb for not supporting ubi" or "thanks for the bone ubi" , you need to understand the message it sends to large corporations . That message is "here I am abuse me !!". Without our money they (ubisoft) can brought to their knees . Understand the power that you as a consumer can excercise .

@Tsuchiya My launch Wii still runs like new . I would rather risk buying a Nintendo system at launch like I did with every single one than anything made by their competitors especially microsoft (the worst)but not excluding sony .

All of my nintendo systems still run like new and none of them have ever had a faulty part . That is the reliability I want when I drop hard earned money on electronics .

@Lambduh I wouldn't buy a ps4 or xbox720 on day 1 if I were you . Unless you want to experience the purple dot of death or indigo square of doom or whatever other hardware failure names will come with those systems .

In my opinion there was nothing too exciting about this nintendo direct . E3 is still a few months away and by that time there will be more details on sony and microsofts new machines . This was good fan service for nintendo devotees but nothing that would attract new customers and boost sales . Release dates on some big Wii u titles both first and third parties are essential but maybe i've just become too cynical in my old age .

I am interested in that monster hunter bundle though . If we got that in the states I would probably trade in my wii u basic for it . I just love that delicious MH artwork on the box .

Sorry Activision march is monster hunter month . Maybe sometime later I'll give this a try .

Monolith has a brilliant team and being closer to big brother nintendo (the good kind not the government eyeing your every move kind) will only help them refine their expertise . I look forward to spending another couple of hundred hours on one of their masterpieces .

@Vayby_Brown It's not so much the multiplatform thing , It's the fact that it has been delayed another 7 months . This being done mere WEEKS before it's projected release date , not months , not even one month , a couple of weeks .
You're right in that we still get the game but it will be at a time when we are no longer interested . Monster hunter tri ultimate will be out Pikmin 3 will be out Wind waker HD will be out or on the horizon GTA V will be out and many other games will have been announced after E3 . If ubisoft thinks that the hype around rayman legends will be the same or greater by the time september roles around they are dilusional . The PS360 fans that they claim to be appeasing will be so wrapped up in whatever new things are out for their systems that they couldn't care less about legends . Just look at the abundance of rayman origins available brand new for under 20 bucks even less in the bargain bins for proof . Origins was released around christmas time up against Skyrim . Skyrim . It looks like ubisoft hasn't learned their lesson from that . It is an idiotic business decision . One that makes me wonder if something else is going on .

It seems that devs are more comfortable with the status quo and are more concerned with the upcoming latest and greatest which at this juncture seem to offer nothing more than just raw power . The laziness of some of these developers is mind boggling . Why create something new and innovative when we can make call of doodie 10, 000 with better graphics ?
If the wii u fails , which I doubt , then my 25+ years of progressive gaming are over . This will be my last gaming generation and I will dip into retro gaming from now on .

I would much rather spend my hard earned money on wind waker HD which is slated to release in the fall . I'm done with Ubisoft they remind me of the sleazy used car salesmen that tells you "these are 50,000 original miles " when the reality is that it's been rolled back from 300,000.

@Bankai This company will NOT be going out of business just because it goes console exclusive . They could just as easily make an entirely different rayman game for other consoles or none at all and still be fine . Or do you not think that they turned a HUGE profit on Assassins creed alone .
