Re: Rumour: The Legend Of Zelda Movie May Have Found Its Composer

I really think Wes is gonna pull this off. The last Apes film not only had a great story, but was visually amazing. Also helps he’s a dedicated Zelda fan. Paesanos work on the Spider-Man games are phenomenal. I’m honestly more at ease than I was with the Mario Movie when it got announced.

I don’t think this film will be as financially successful as Mario, but I can still see it hitting that 700 million mark.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give The Super Mario Galaxy Movie?

7.5/10, but the animation pushes it to an 8. I actually thought the pacing was a lot better than the first one, much more connected feeling than the first and not as jarring. The humor also hit for me more in this one than the first.

Also, what’s the line between references/world building? Obviously Pikmin and Game and Watch are references, but just seeing Mario characters/items I don’t think are “Easter eggs” or “references”. It’s a Mario movie, set in a Mario world (or Galaxy).

I no joke could not be more excited by a MAR10 day announcement unless they were to reveal the new 3D Mario. This has been a dream for me since I was a kid. I enjoy the current line and love the 18+ builds, but this is what the whole lego community has been screaming for for ages.

@Joekun Dreamworks humor is extremely similar to the usual humor in Illumination films. They literally made a Captain Underpants movie. Also, Bad Guys 2 has a fart joke scene that goes on for about 2 minutes. The Mario Movie has none of that. Also, ignoring the whole scandal with Lasseter, which I’m sure Nintendo would love to get tied up with, his “comeback” film sucked, and he didn’t have exactly a perfect track record before that either.

@Misima I always had a Nintendo console growing up and I’d argue it made me MORE creative as a person. I would design my own levels, play out my own scenes with figures and toys, make art based on my favorite characters, think of my own new series or characters. These toys are a great way to encourage off screen play scenarios while still engaging kids with their favorite characters.

I am now a professional graphic designer/illustrator, doing a lot better than most at my age, and have Nintendo to thank for a lot of those skills.
