i havent picked up the game yet but i was disappointed to see the difficulty toggle was removed from 3, but i think the upgrade system was meant to be an indirect replacement for that. i wonder how difficult runs will be if you refuse to upgrade as much as you feasibly can
since lemmy will literally never appear in an article header ever again ill also take this chance to say he's best koopaling. he's really cute in the mario bros show where him and iggy were twins named hip and hop. lil mohawk koopa guy who likes to be a clown bless him
theres something bitter sweet about them still willing to make products for a dead franchise but not an actual game. i love conker but for better or worse the series lives of nostalgia now with the occasional expensive figure to buy
my early joycons have been a drift nightmare, each cleaning guide control stick replacement led to them all drifting a few months later. my oled model joycons havent drifted at all since i got them so im just gonna keep praying it stays that way
i agree the function over flashiness is preferred for switch menus, but ill still miss the way 3ds and wii u sorted game icons. it was the best feature they didnt bring back for some reason
part of me also believes its comes with the pride of attempting to be a successful 1st party nintendo game. mk8d is the exception, but i think its hard to sell yourself as a $60 arcade-y party game youre meant to replay for high scores or rank mode, the content has to speak for itself. unless they wanna admit this is a b-grade series to be sold at $40-$50
their best bet would be to just remake or port over gx with online and test if theres still a market for it
theyve already shown theyre willing to re-release gamecube games as remasters or bundles for $60. pretty sure nso isnt getting anything past the n64 anymore. possibly virtual boy if theyre daring enough?
great, not only do we have to have large gatherings to get the most out of this game, i gotta worry about them snapping genitalia icons. and worst of all we're playing everybody 1-2 switch
this games legacy will be the fact it exists, but it does keep the joycons "party" functions alive. joycon hide and seek sounds fun to me, makes me wish it was in a better game
part of me likes how.. weird the avatar options look. theres nothing conventionally attractive about them, they dont even have natural hair colors. with a game as weird as pikmin i think thats something you gotta embrace
i do wish the face/hair options werent limited to body types tho, id like more options to mix and match
for nintendo specifically they NEED to rely on exclusives since their priority is solely in the game market, pushing consoles is important.
but other than the pride of owning X console to play Y game i really cant complain about games being more accessible in other places, but we still need a lil bit of both if not for the sake of companies trying to 1-up each and make better quality games
he's not entirely wrong, especially when i grew up hearing fans preach "gameplay over graphics" and "all cod games are the same" . there was a point where it was cool to hate cod and better to play "real" games
that said, still incredibly petty to dismiss the games all together. he's trying so hard to convince us cod on switch is a bad idea when its just to cover sonys backend
this just makes me wish it was a NSO perk like the devs originally suggested, but like tetris 99. battle royal microgames sound so fun and justifies the 100 player idea
i get the minigames are designed for local play, but it baffles me even more they thought nearly 100 players would gather in the same room to play this
@steely_pete tbh im still confused at what he directly wants. does he not want the "boy" hair styles to put hands on their hips? not wink or do peace signs? its such a generalized complaint that just limits options
idk how this takes away options when you can still choose your characters style in the beginning. whats being taken away? emotes are a brand new thing so theres no basis on whats been removed yet
isnt it part of the canon that the squids can morph their hair into whatever they want? whose to say which player is a boy or girl at this point. i never even noticed it as an issue cause options arent limited between boy or girl characters anymore
the poses dont even look that feminine to me? unless they mean striking any kind of pose doesnt look masculine. maybe they expect something more blatant like flexing muscles or something
I was worried a smooth moves sequel with just an extra controller would be too redundant, but seeing how it ties into new assymentrical movement has me really excited! Just like GiT I can't wait to play this
now this is interesting, a sequel not only happening soon after the last game, but also being the "smooth moves" game style we all expected the first time
hoping for a more complete package. GiT was great but slacked on a few highlights of past games (VAing, cinematics, toys/collectables)
The more i think about it, yeah AA5 and 6 are both pretty apollo focused by the end, he gets a new back story each game lol. Excited for these! If just for the fact that AA hasn't been forgotten about
im moreso interested on how diff the game will play, if they took any feedback to heart. this game survived off switch launch hype, so by all means try and impress me with a sequel to one of the worst switch games
This is sad to hear, I love their dillon series. I've always dreamed the series would make a return on switch, guess I should put that idea to rest for now
im glad about the reminder for the midseason patch that'll focus more on balances. you'll get your glory someday brellas, nintendo cant ignore you forever
games CAN be worth $70. $60 wasnt a standard that was gonna last forever when game systems just get more and more powerful, but thats a price point i have a lot less trust in with sonic
if the main complaint with the mario movie was that there wasnt enough focus on story and characters, then zelda is definitely series to cater to that audience. not sure why comments are so against it right off the bat when mario of all things shows anything could work as a movie
if the former nintendo president publicly acknowledged my piracy of a soon-to-be released game id go into hiding too. as joking as his tweet is he's also not wrong lol
when this comes in conjunction of the movie recently making 1B in the box office theres only so much "woe is nintendo" to go around. popular movies have been pirated for years, this movie has already been online for weeks. the fact that movies can be successful despite that shows how well off they are
pirating will never truly take over cause the general public would honestly rather pay for the convenience of receiving a product right then and there, than go through hoops of steps and sketchy links to maybe get a good quality pull of a movie
@TheBigBlue @Mauzuri battle league is a bad example tbh. i bought both games and switch sports is the far better deal. BL is not a big enough evolution to warrant all they cut from previous games. literally, its just one mode. its a fine game that should not be $60, and this being the only mario sport that nintendo offers a free demo to months after it came out tells me nobodys been playing it
i can argue switch sports is a complete $40 game after its updates. less modes, but still far more variety and replayability. the game didnt need to be wii sports resort + more, all the side mode wouldve bloated the online aspect tbh. and the game already shines in its simplicity and ease of use
thats harder to get away with in mario sports, theres needs to be a bigger hook than "main mode and online mode". it failed in ultra smash, and failed again in battle league
this is such a weird game to talk about. theres a lot to be said about its lack of modes and sports, but i still got so much value from the game and its online is FAR better than wii sports club.
with how successful that game was they shouldve supported it longer. nintendo this generation has been bloated with "less modes and content but you can play online now" games and this couldve been so much more
as much as you can criticize, its an undeniably fun movie thats never boring. a bit too fast paced only cause they throw so much at you, theres always something new going on
the games ended up more disposable than the cardboard. im still oddly on board for them to make more kits, the idea of DIY accessories and games is still really cool to me, its the best use of joycons by far. they just need more fleshed out gameplay and ways to share labo garage creations
half the fun of games like this is easily sharing and creating ideas. but sharing video recordings of labo vr was hard enough, they never fully taught you how to use the garage, and the games are so focused on local play it could never really build a bigger community. as cool as it was to construct your peripheral everything else after that was too shallow
in hindsight if nintendo wants a safe, sanitized rendition of mario on the big screen, illumination really was their easiest choice lol. now that the precedent is set i think future mario movies will just continue to look pretty with a passable script

Re: Movie Review: The Super Mario Bros. Movie - A Fun Ride That Substitutes Story For Spectacle
"safe" is the vibe im getting from it, capturing a casual, wide blanket audience like most of the mario games do.
stellar gameplay usually makes up for marios shortcomings, shame it couldnt balance being both flashy AND functional as a movie
