Re: Video: Is 3DS StreetPass Dead?

boxyguy

i area was small and made getting 2 streetpasses in a day a miracle

as the nostalgia for this system grows i hope we'll see more people make dedicated streetpass hotspots at cons or something

Re: Poll: How Many 3DS Consoles Have You Owned?

boxyguy

i had the original aqua blue model and new 3ds (isabelle/happy home designer) edition. i had to be selective with my upgrades and im very happy with the both i got

the first model still felt the most premium despite coming first, and the new 3ds was just a solid upgrade to definitively have the tech

Re: Random: Smash Bros. Melee HD Unlikely To Happen, According To Former Nintendo Employees

boxyguy

still seems like such a bizarre request. this mainly caters to hardcore melee fans, cause any other fan would just play the newest game

but if you want melee hd with widescreen and online play, why would you want it to be under nintendo's awful online service? the one game with the strictest competitive gameplay? the reason people still play melee at all?

chances are if you want online melee youre already playing it under perfect PC conditions, with greater service than nintendo could ever offer

Re: Video: Looking Back On Animal Crossing: New Horizons Three Years Later

boxyguy

i still believe it's a great game that's a bad sequel. If NH if your first entry it's content is more than enough to service you, but coming out from NL it's easier to see how much content they cut from NPCs, buildings, events, minigames and side modes, ect.

Didn't help how awful the update pacing was done too, it opened up the possibility for more seasonal updates that never came after the bare minimum

At the end of it's update life cycle the game finally felt complete, and for this feeling like an AC reboot this was still a fantastic one that felt like it was stopped too soon

Re: Bowser Defends $70 Zelda Pricing, Nintendo Still "Very Bullish" About Switch

boxyguy

im not opposed to $70 if the games content can back it up. theres countless games should be priced under the standard $60, so on the flipside whose to say a games quality cant be worth more than that?

not EVERY game should be $70 but i dont doubt TOTK could be a contender for that price. ill throw eggs once they start pricing mario tennis at $70

Re: Countdown: 3DS eShop Spotlight - Colors! 3D

boxyguy

this came out at the right time for me before i had any other device to draw on. you'd be surprised the little community this game had with an online gallery. it really helped cultivate my love for drawing and is still a major factor in my life.

granted me and even kids have better devices and software for drawing now, and i supported with switch kickstarter out of respect. but there will always be a simplistic charm to this. also i wish this music was used outside the trailer its so catchy lol

Re: Soapbox: 3DS' Boundless Creativity Got Me, And Nintendo, Through Some Tough Times

boxyguy

it was the system i grew up with as a kid and even without games it was the perfect toy for me to tinker with. i got hours just out of the camera and sound app. making my own stop motion videos and using it to play music

ar games and face raiders being fun distractions to show off the tech, streetpass just making passing by another 3ds owner fun, ambience and personality in every app. it was the most definitely handheld ive ever seen, i dont think nintendo will ever go as hard with it again

Re: Countdown: 3DS eShop Spotlight - Dillon's Rolling Western

boxyguy

@ReaperMelia id say 2, its more of the same from 1 but with tightened up gameplay and new mechanics

as for 3's case it could be worth it? its got a bigger production and scope, easiest game in the franchise too but getting 5 stars is still a grind. you should probably check if you like 1 or 2 first before considering 3

Re: Countdown: 3DS eShop Spotlight - Dillon's Rolling Western

boxyguy

love this series, glad it did well enough for a bigger scope retail pretense in 2018. id also love the series to come back on switch

tho i will say the first 2 games are especially hard to get high scores in, and missions can last so long the game can be hard to jump in and out of. not the most digestible game for everyone but still a standout title

Re: Soapbox: As A Colour Blind Gamer, I Can Now Finally Beat Metroid Prime

boxyguy

discovering i was colorblind myself made me so happy to see color toggles becoming more common as time went on. puyo puyo was the only game where i really struggled to play but it never hampered my enjoyment of a game.

drawing on the other hand can be a struggle lol, i gotta rely on color wheels to know what certain colors are, and just trust that the colors i pick look good

Re: Talking Point: Who Did You Marry In Fire Emblem: Awakening?

boxyguy

sumia originally, the extra screen time she got in the beginning pushed me more towards her

on another marriage, i really like henry and oliva. total opposite bonding to nurse a dog back to health, olivia wanting him to express his true emotions, and henry taking "frowning classes" just to spend time with her. henry later saying she taught him what a real smile was, good stuff from my fav characters

Re: New Mario Strikers: Battle League Update Resolves Pesky Issue

boxyguy

this game absolutely dropped the ball. its not even inherently bad gameplay, but it didnt evolve the series big enough to warrant so many cuts in content. it just expected online to keep it alive

its not like switch sports that have quick games that are easy to jump into. it tried to market itself competitively with none of the incentive to keep playing, or content to back it up
