Re: Warner Bros. Games Acquires 'MultiVersus' Developer

boxyguy

genuinely sad this game was brought down by its ftp model, this game couldve been a strong smash substitute just with its legacy of IPs alone

it just feels janky and unfinished with stingy rewards. best of luck to the game but i already dipped out

Re: Surprise! Basketball Slams Onto Nintendo Switch Sports This Week

boxyguy

ive had my rough patches with this game but ive still really enjoyed it. having online is such a powerful value even if its just the 8 sports now, the perfect awkward middle child of the franchise

im still surprised by this tbh, normally nintendos a lot more transparent about post launch dlc. this mustve started development well after launch

Re: Switch Online + Expansion Pack Survey Asks Users To Share Their Experience

boxyguy

fine enough value with the retro games, but i buy NSO for the online. it still stings knowing theres no actual improvements to the online from what we can tell, and it makes me wish there was an even cheaper tier that was just the online strictly

or idk keep the online free and have the game subscription be a separate thing, but that would drastically lower its value for a lot of people

Re: Nintendo Files DMCA Against Fan-Made 'Rhythm Heaven' Remix Software

boxyguy

its such a cynical take to say you just skip to only doing original art, coming from people that arent even creatives. as if they dont wanna talk about how undertales creator started off with an earthbound mod, or how any creator in general starts off with fan creations

this wasnt some devious ploy that was even earning money. it was created by fans for fans, people who have supported RH in the past because why else would you want a RH maker. and i have no reason to be happy its gone while people who didnt even know it existed shame fans for it. its a fantastic project

Re: Talking Point: amiibo Were First Revealed 10 Years Ago Today, And We Still Want More

boxyguy

amiibo was one of the best ways they took advantage of the toys-to-life boom. im glad we're at the balance where theyre just quality figures with insignificant game bonuses, otherwise it'd just be dlc thats obnoxious to obtain

tho is this something i respect more from a distance, only having less than 10 amiibos overall but dozens of AC cards. would love to see more just for the appeal of supporting a series more beyond just the games

Re: Talking Point: Would You Want Quality And Performance Options For Nintendo's 'Switch 2' Games?

boxyguy

more options the better, but i feel 1st party games can get away with doing this less? since their games are made for the hardware specifically, chances are theyre running the best they can already

but given the 30fps ttyd controversy, im sure some people would appreciate it. im more conscious toggling quality options on pc games since you gotta make it fit your hardware

its weird, nintendo is kinda like the iphone of consoles. they have less options to tinker with cause they already cater the experience in a way thats easy to understand. more options probably wouldnt upset people cause they wouldnt be touching it in the first place

Re: Random: Nintendo Of America Appears To Have Updated Its Sign

boxyguy

its so nothing but i really like when nintendo updated their branding to red. something about their old white/grey logo felt sleek in a boring way

plus it pairs well with the 3 colors of the competitor consoles, now the question is who will be daring enough to be the 4th yellow console

Re: Video: For 365 Days, We Took Our 2DS Everywhere Just For StreetPass

boxyguy

i still dream of the day streepass comes back. it could debatably be easier than ever with people bringing their switches around. heck make so all you need to carry is one joycon to get streepass hits

tho i do love is more as this forbidden fruit, the most streetpasses i got in one day was 3, playing the games mainly through playcoins. i miss the 3ds era where owning the device itself was enough of its own game

Re: New Paper Mario Survey Reportedly Suggests Unique Character Designs Could Make A Return

boxyguy

i dont know what fan would ever vote "no please dont ever make characters look unique again"

i agree the devs probably took it as a challenge to do so anyway, TOK looks like its BEGGING for unique characters trying to find as many loopholes as possible (old enemies with new origami designs, legion of stationary, bob-omb having the nickname bobby, ect) but at that point, just embrace make new characters?

Re: Sakurai On Smash Ultimate Win Rates: "Any Fighter Has A Shot At Winning"

boxyguy

Really puts into perspective the priorities of smash. I think it's still obvious certain fighters are competitively stronger than others, but you're not playing against esport level players online

The balance still isn't perfect imo but given the compromise between millions of fans and 80+ characters I think we got it about as good as we could get. Bowser jr/lemmy for life

Re: Random: Sakurai's Game Storage Solutions Are A Sight To Behold

boxyguy

on the topic of keeping cases, has anyone ever done the middleground route of keeping the cases on a shelf, but also moving the discs into its own binder? i only had a dozen or so games at a time, so i have the convenience of keeping all my games in a binder but also the aesthetic of displaying my cases on a shelf haha

Re: Bayonetta Origins Director Empathises With Paper Mario Dev, Suggests Reasons For 30FPS

boxyguy

my eyes for the life of me cannot tell the diff on the lower frame rate, tho i imagine veteran players needing to readjust their muscle memory on superguards

i dont doubt that the game will run as beautifully as it looks. id only get annoyed if frames drop hard in the middle of gameplay, but i have no reason to believe would happen in a game like ttyd (besides the dry bones room lol)

Re: Rumour: 'Switch 2' Said To Be Fully Backward Compatible With A Larger, 1080p Screen

boxyguy

whats scary is how plausible it is for the switch 2 to not be compatible with old switch games at all. i was under the assumption that of COURSE it'd be backwards compatible, almost every nintendo console and handheld was too. how can these tiny switch chips not be?

but this switch era where nintendos back on top and at their greediest? idk man i feel theres a lot more they'll try and get away with. hoping for the best

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Paper Mario: Sticker Star (3DS)

boxyguy

@Uncle_Franklin yeah! its divisive but i really like the paper craft aesthetic the newer games have, its very pretty and they managed to make these worlds feel alive and lived in by TOK.

i think what ruined it was when the game mechanics and characters had to rely on paper jokes and gimmicks too, it should stay as a visual aesthetic and not overtake the games identity

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Paper Mario: Sticker Star (3DS)

boxyguy

kinda off topic but id love if a new PM game looked as good as the sticker star boxart, seeing the felt material and shadows overcasting the layered paper looks so cool. it was a shame this was when they started the choppy animations and removed the layered look of characters, up until the remake anyway

Re: Animal Crossing: New Horizons 'Isabelle' First 4 Figures Statue Announced

boxyguy

I know NH finished it's 2 year update cycle years ago and we should move on, but it still stings knowing they regularly promote new products without any actual game news

With how mainstream its become I feel they could toss us a (good) spinoff or something, it lends itself perfect with its hundreds of characters and thousands of items

I'm just a desperate fan and want them to revisit their RPG idea AC was originally conceived as
