i dont think i even touched tag team online yet lol
but i agree more rule customization would go a long way, MP always felt stingy about that. individual minigame/bonus star toggle, adjusting the coin economy, buddy toggle, more turns in pro mode, ect
and the drip feed continues. decade old games is one thing but when a music app has to span practically EVERY generation of nintendo hardware its gonna hit harder i feel
i enjoy the curated playlists for walking and sleeping tho. helpful when i dont wanna worry about songs or lyrics getting to the "good part" when the playlist is essentially bg noise
i can understand why some fans see TOK as a higher standard. it honestly has better presentation with just as much adventure and personality, but nintendo would be insane to think we dont want unique characters and in depth battles systems again after the remake
ttyd was a nearly perfect sequel, im looking forward to a new game that merges the best ideas between TTYD and TOK
i think what makes this especially important is how each song comes with a related screenshot. could easily spoil a character, location, or story beat in a game
i know the general public dont really care about credits but is that really a reason not to have them? even the smash bros music player has the courtesy of displaying names
chalk it up to NSO deals always being unfinished/bad at first, or sakurai having OCD levels of detail in his games, but a song app that doesnt display composers is just bizarre
smash ult/3ds were genuinely the only music players in a game to do it right. cause yes i want the songs to play on loop and shuffle, make playlists, play them with the screen off, ect. not the perfect way to listen to music, but just enough for a kid like me to use on the go with my 3ds
that said with the excitement calming down, a nintendo music app is more of a novelty than full replacement. all the more stingy we have to wait for them to add songs, have it be available in our countries, keep a yearly subscription, ect
still waiting for it in my country, but ill definitely use it on occasion. i want to listen to nintendo music with other types of songs shuffled in, so youtube will still be my main option
as cool as it it to have a new app, still lame its locked behind paywall when putting them all on youtube was the option we hoped for
honestly? i think its a good deal. ignoring the construct that we expect mobile games to either be ftp or $2 this is a great value. far more than the $25 dlc NH got
ftps are packed with so much content cause its meant to be spread out with microtractions and subscriptions. i was jealous as a NH player seeing all the events and cool items PC got, and now i can practically have it all as a one time purchase spinoff game?
switch owners would totally eat this up. it may only be on phones but this game got the best case scenario ending. now if only it released in my COUNTRY
every mario party has its villain. and its lowkey fun when theres a mutual agreement to try and overthrow the menace player. may you all never encounter annalingus's wrath
i dont even think this was a stunt to get more advertising on it, just typical corporate talk to minimize "damage" so to speak
like telling people not to reupload their music. its gonna happen either way, but they'd rather have the excuse to take it down than expecting it to stop the problem
whats wild was the impression that he made the channel as a "break" away from game dev, but no he simply just worked on both at the same time. he's a mad man that's really good at his job
@Not_Soos i looked at the SMP wiki and they have a similar number of minigames between 4p/2v2/1v3 (im avoiding comparison with MPS since that games whole gimmick is being packed with past content), so if you didnt have an issue with repetitive minigames in SMP maybe it shouldnt be an issue here?
if anything im worried about kaboom squad and koopathon getting repetitive, those are the "faster" modes ive been playing more and the repeat minigames can get annoying
i still find the concept of gamecube NSO very hard to believe. it just feels to generous for them to had us dozens of gamecube games, while i believe we're in the era where they can get away with selling a $60 remake of one game and a majority of people will bite (me buying the ttyd remake)
@GarlicGuzzler i feel this. as someone who actually did buy and use the mario clock on dsi i set my alarm to the invincible star theme. years after i stopped using it i heard the theme again and felt a light sense of panic and a headache lol
the motion sensor to encourage getting up is interesting, but be wary of turning songs you enjoy into your everyday alarm
looking back its still a shame how butchered the online got in ult. i wish they expanded the for fun/for glory model instead of consolidating every mode you do into GSP, its a very vague metric where the high number doesnt feel like anything
Calling it Type 1 and Type 2 is kinda on the nose, but I like nintendos approach in games like acnh and splatoon 3 saying to just "pick your style". It's a subtle way for avatars stay open to interpretation, enough that their style mean what you want it to mean
@PipeGuy64Bit thats completely fair, even if all 6 games are still connected, 4-6 felt more like disconnected stories that didnt affect or reference each other, not to mention bloated mechanics since there we so many main characters to follow. but my theory is that theyre already kinda planning a soft reboot?
AA6 ending spoilers with apollo choosing to stay in khura'in i think theyre intentionally trying to reduce the amount of lawyers per game, so both apollo and phoenix can exclusively have their own AA games again and not have complex stories that have to merge with each other. but i could also be entirely wrong since they hinted at thalassa returning lol
if mixed media opens up the possibilities of spin offs id be interested. AA always has to have these grand, high stakes stories for every entry, part of me worries about the potential story creep of always raising the bar. given how AA6 ended id still love to see where we go from here
@Tendogamerxxx i more so think about generative AI and how poorly it gets used in games, and like a tool it can make or break something. i want it to reduce the labor in making games not replace the unique vision people have when creating them
AI has been helping us for years but ill still remain skeptical on devs that enter a field as creative as games and decide they dont want their artist/writer to create, cause generative AI can make the safe and trendy game for them
Even when it looks "good" I've never seen it used in a good name. Yes it can make development faster but it should only improve the technical side not replace the creative one (generative ai)
when it replaces real voice acting, writing, or art it just sounds like the devs don't have an actual vision for the game, why should I care about a game when the devs dont even wanna bother making it themselves
@MSaturn if the 3ds > new 3ds transition is anything to go by, maybe the buttons or general colors will be diff? something the 3d model and this 3d print couldnt consider
its hard to tell most nintendo sequel consoles apart tbh, especially with obnoxious titles like NEW 3ds and wii U
@bleeflooflah tbh i think the 2nd usb c port is so you can charge the switch while playing in tabletop mode. i remember doing that all the time with my wii u and being bugged when i couldnt do that with my switch haha
excited! i wonder how the splatfest theme will tie into the sequel since they never use the same idea twice for it. my prediction is the salmonoids will play a bigger part now that lil judd is taking over, and the splatfest theme will tie into them somehow
and team present, mainly for off the hook supremacy
its great to be at the point where MPs games seem to get better and better again, especially happy this is the most solo/online-friendly one too. its been hard to fully gather friends to play this locally
i knew updates slowed down on this game but it never crossed my mind itd eventually shut down, especially how successful it seemed. shame it never came to the philippines
an offline version does sound interesting, i think a lot of FTPs can have loads of content value under a one time purchase. probably the most graceful way this game could end
i wonder if that means they focused on NA advertising, or if the gameplay itself was influenced into what a NA audience likes? maybe that explains the battle royal style modes
wont lie that the battle mode is what keeps me coming back, still wish all the outfits were available for everyone, not just the main monkeys
i still dont forgive you guys for giving battle league a 9/10. i dont care how fun its one game mode is, for full price this is nintendos worst case of "online competitiveness" being its excuse for a lack of everything else. if you played the demo you played the whole game
@Samalik i get where youre coming from, staying true to the source material is exactly what people like about anime dubs/subs, and why dubs like 4kids pokemon get ridiculed (these jellyfilled donuts are amazing)
unfortunately the localization differences have been baked into the game since the beginning and i doubt they can change it now. GAA could get away with it as a spinoff that literally has to wear its culture on its sleeve
but its not all bad, ive come to embrace the silly japanifornia world theyve come up with and the team still does a great job on the translation. and at this point names like phoenix wright hold so much more weight to me than ryuichi naruhodo
@Tyranexx not necessary at all! AAI takes place during the original trilogy era, but even then AAI intentionally avoids mentioning events from it
you may see some returning side characters but you can still enjoy the game not knowing them, we dont even hear anyone say the name phoenix wright at all haha
i commend the fact they intentionally avoided the fan translation so they could keep to their own influence, i imagine any AA fan would be curious to see it especially the devs
tho in my heart it still hurts to loose sebasitian debeste, that name sounds so loud and grand for a dork like him i love it
funny how this game already has so many fail safes for glitches too. i personally think half the fun of watching speedruns is pushing the boundaries of beyond what the game thinks is possible, but i dont blame nintendo for discouraging that in their official speedrun game. theres a reason categories are already separated from glitchless and glitched runs
didnt cross my mind this game would even get a roadmap, the game felt complete enough as is. but battle mode could use all the help it needs given i dont think its that popular
ill look forward to it. ive actually been playing more battles lately since those are less stressful. but ill never be convinced to buy those characters at those prices
im never proud of my gamer rage moments but as someone who occasionally gets mad at splatoon, never underestimate the power of pulling back and just telling yourself its just a game
it sounds shallow but its important to remember how little is actually at stake. a rank grade doesnt matter, we're not professional players with anything to lose
i really want nintendo to be more open to its competitive community cause people who dedicate that much time to your game and its competition is worth supporting, but i also hate how theyve been proving themselves right in distancing itself from them
