Re: 3DS And Wii U Online Play Ends In "Early April" 2024

boxyguy

sad to see an era truly come to a close, this was the first one i got to experience from a full beginning to end

at this point there was no proper way to end it, just rip it off like a bandaid and let to wound heal. but if riiconnected24 and pretendo network means anything, its that anyone who truly still wants to play their 3ds/wii u online, eventually will

Re: Hands On: WarioWare Move It! Takes Us Right Back To A Wii Classic

boxyguy

so excited i am for this. i never got a chance to play smooth moves, and just the fact warioware returned on switch AGAIN as a proper joycon showcase makes me happy

plus, since Gold theyve done a great job letting the character's personalities shine and interact with each other. its a fun game with a fun cast

and i agree we need better unlockables and minigames, GiT had fun modes but only if you had people to play with

Re: Random: Making "Miyamoto Happy" Isn't The Goal Of Development, According To Pikmin 4's Creators

boxyguy

i know he's been a polarizing figure since the "stale" mario days, but from what i can tell he's been pretty hands off with most projects nowadays. mario odyssey is already an example of how he oversee a project, but have the directors have the actual final say

even sticker star, his most infamously influenced game wanting less story and unique characters, has awful game mechanics miyamoto wasnt involved in, and even found boring. i dont think his feedback alone makes a game better or worse, just directors and teams that dont have a proper vision of the game

Re: Talking Point: What Do You Want From A 'Splatoon 4'?

boxyguy

more PvE content. i was really hoping salmon run would get more love now that its not timegated, but anything new its gotten has been super grindy and also timegated again (big run, eggstra work)? its forced into a supplement mode with the lack of meaningful content and rewarding progress

Re: Nintendo Is "Evolving" Into An Entertainment Company, According To Doug Bowser

boxyguy

from movies to theme parks this was a long time coming, tho i do like how theyve come full circle in a way. from the very beginning theyve always been willing to experiment with diff business ventures, now that they've found their footing with games its like theyre willing to go back to that again

ive always seen nintendo as the disney of video games. fun for all ages, well thought out entertainment, accessible, ect. tho given disneys recent track record, not sure how much of a compliment that is

Re: Super Mario Bros. Wonder Online Multiplayer Revealed, No Online Co-op

boxyguy

call me copium, but i think nintendo realized after mario maker 2 online thats online coop is a lost cause, and i think having a live shadow of all the randoms your playing with is much more manageable and pleasant to play through

wish online with friends had the option for physical interactions tho, lag is unpredictable but with friends its at least in a more controlled environment

Re: Baldur's Gate 3 Surpasses Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom As 2023's Highest-Rated Game

boxyguy

i think the fact that devs are coming out and saying "pls dont expect us to make an rpg this big" shows how well crafted and content packed the game it. this should not be seen as an attack on totk, but a celebration on how the devs pushed the boundaries on what a game can deliver

i know this game is outside the nintendo bubble, but bg3 honestly did to RPGs what zelda did for open world games. theyre masterclasses of their genre even if their audiences dont completely overlap

Re: SpongeBob's Plankton Joins The Battle In Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2

boxyguy

i like how a lot of the improvements take ques from smash, which isnt a bad thing at all. smash has always been good at the "easy to learn, hard to master" mindset

the slime meter is such a cool idea. clouds limit gauge has always been one of the more simple yet effective gimmicks in smash, and having it also influence your combos is very interesting

Re: Sakurai Can't Imagine Future Super Smash Bros. Games Without His Involvement

boxyguy

obviously smash can continue without sakurai, 2d crossover fighters arent a patented. but it's been his vision for the past 2 decades so things WOULD be different, for better or worse whose to say

im still more on the negative side. games with new directors and devs can improve the existing formula, but those are the exception not the rule. he honestly set the standard so high id be worried for who else wants to try making the next smash

its not like he's even making bad games, he still overly delivers on this series. the most complaints come from a technical aspect cause playing a game competitively will never be perfect
