@johnvboy thats fair, not like we can hear the opinions of people outside the bubbles since they whole point is they dont talk. time will tell i suppose
tho if you ask me, one leg up nintendo always had against the competition is that they were the cheap, family friendly option. and now theyre just the family friendly option
@johnvboy nothing i can source, to but just general opinions ive been hearing even outside of nintendo circles. i know you dismiss forum and youtube discussions, but just hearing core nintendo fans/people with families/my talks with friends, all have a sudden hesitation to buy a switch 2 makes me wonder how the average person would feel seeing the prices in store
if a nintendo fanboy is intimidated by the price, how would a typical person whos vaguely enjoys nintendo feel on buying it, yknow? im not fully convinced its a non-issue when people in the store see price first, quality later
@johnvboy i personally wouldnt dismiss the complaints as a loud echo chamber just yet, not that i see this damaging nintendo to wii u levels. the general public can easily ignore gamer complaints but hitting their wallets is another thing
i will say nintendo is clever keeping the console itself a decent price, once you settle on buying a console its a lot easier to commit to buying games even if the new price jumpscares you. i imagine it'll sell decent at launch, but not be the booming success it could be
i surprised to see people prefer the switch 1 red spines. i find them uniform in a boring way, and think its way harder to find games unless my face is right at it reading the text. switch 2 has a much handier visual cue on which game box is which
hate the header with so much empty space tho, wish they did the 3ds boxart thing and just move the logo to another corner of the box or something. theres already a bold number 2 on it in case people think its still confusing
im intrigued but it looks very tech demo-y. the dull colors, bland/empty bgs, faceless avatars, and i cant imagine this game having more than one mode + online
like the end of the article says its a little sad to think such an interesting concept potentially isnt that interesting to play long term
we have every reason to be upset at the precedent $80 games will start, but part of me does want to entertain the idea that it could be worth the price. MK8D + booster pass was already a $85 value
and with this games huge roster plus costumes, and its huge courses. theres a glimmer of "hope" that MK worlds scope of content could be equal to that. thats the one justification i can imagine for this ridiculous price
i dont even need the menus to look flashy, im just disappointed they didnt bring back folders and grid-based icon toggling from 3ds. it was actually useful for organizing games and i rarely had to scroll through menus to see them all
im very skeptical since i can still easily see them remastering GC games for switch at $60, but then again nintendo gave is 2 directs in the same week so anythings possible
perhaps the tides are truly changing, and GC NSO games are exactly what allows the switch to become the ultimate nintendo device. at a $80-110 subscription per year cause they dont wanna be too generous to us yet lol
that said i understand how its a devisive last announcement game. its not a console selling global phenomenon, but a weirdo-nintendo title that was both popular and niche at the same time. im gonna love it but it wont be for everyone
tbh starting off with 3 anime games was enough to tell me to hold off expectations of 1st party announcements from the start. RH and tomodachi life were my highlights like a lot of people but im fully aware those are lower pirority games BELOVED by core fans but arent system sellers. im just said the only games i was interested in are next year titles
its not even a case on if it will sell well (it will) but a ssbu situation, where do you go for a sequel when you've already set the bar so high?
unlikely to sell better than mk8d but it also doesnt need to. the switch 1 in general had an electric sense of excitement when it was new, that we should manage expectation that it'd sell EVEN BETTER than the last
@Daniel36 that still sounds like to me their grounds for a lawsuit are flimsy at best. that said i dont care about palworld or pokemon, both of their tactics are scummy and leave a bad taste in my mouth
im under the impression they'll do amiibo stuff forever, even if i dont remember the last time i bought one. mario maker 1 and animal crossing (cards) are still my fav uses of amiibo. cosmetics that are technically unlockable through normal play, but amiibo get to a serve as a shortcut for getting them
@-wc- im even surprised i dont hear people talk about how easy it'd potentially be to tip the joycon sideways while holding it like a mouse, especially for fast paced games. unless theres some accessory attachment (besides the thin joycon straps) i cant imagine it'd be that comfy long term
but tbh i dont think anyone uses joycons for comfort, theyre just there to get the job done. what im really curious about is how many people have desk set ups to use mouse controls in front of their tv lol
id be so down if DS games came to NSO. i can imagine a (clunky) set up where you play with the switch system vertically and have the joycons attach sideways with an accessory
im still at the point where i only pay for the online access. the old games are bonuses i dont touch at all, so im essentially paying more for nothing but sharing the family plan with my friends
we're at the point where nso is stuffed with enough content that it feels less like a rip off, but i still dont take advantage of the free games
love the idea of a village/town. it almost merges the ideas of LM2 taking separate buildings but connects it as one big area to explore. lots of unique potential for portrait ghosts too
i love miiverse, it really was my first kids social platform where i found my love of sharing art. if it was an app that loaded fast i could see it being a compelling NSO app feature even. but that ship sailed a long time ago, they dont even want to promote miis anymore let alone have interesting console apps
i still believe in streetpass tho. pls nintendo let me stuff a joycon in my pocket and count my steps
i still cant get over how mechanically clever the joycons are. ignoring how sensitive they are or how people dismiss them after getting a pro controller, ive taken advantage of every play style they have. even just laying in bed i play with the joycons detached so i can spread my arms and play more comfy
i wouldnt be surprised if the mouse controls are the only new thing about switch 2. the vibe i get from the switch MO is having non intrusive gimmicks. whether its tv mode/handheld, controllers/mouse, play how you want
the real question is wondering how INCREDIBLE a 1-2 switch sequel is gonna be with mouse controls
remembering the context of the wii u existing makes the switch 2 name funnier to me. i wonder why nintendo doesnt want to take a risk with naming their new system
i will say tho part of me still doesnt like the name "Switch". because its such a generic word it always has to be officially called the "Nintendo Switch". such a mouthful and Nintendo Switch Sports has such an awkward name because of it yes im petty
can i also hijack this article to talk about NH in general. i think its an overall great game once you look past literally the worst update cycle a nintendo games ever had, but i do agree its a lot easier to burnout on compared to NL
for perspective i got around 1000 hours in NL in the span of 5 years, and got 1000 hours into NH in 2 years. but i dont think NH will last me as long as 5 years. i believe cause decorating is much more fast paced, but theres not a lot to do once youre done decorating
to me it comes down to the fact that NH introduce a couple big features (terraforming, improved decorating, more items, QOL changes) but removed a lot of little things because of that (no minigames, less npcs, less buildings, less holidays, missing item sets). its a "complete" game that feels like its missing a lot still
my realistic hope for switch 2 is they make NH deluxe and add back a ton of missing features from past games, plus some new stuff. cause if we dont get NH deluxe i genuinely believe we wont get a new AC game until 2030 or something lol
Super solid mobile game, especially fun having all the premium features that would've been a subscription otherwise. Collecting items and materials is much more generous now, makes me wish it was a switch port too for more comfortable controls lol
I'd recommend it to anyone that enjoys decorating since this game is the best showcase of items and outfits of the entire franchise. it's still a very routine mobile game tho, so when you're not decorating you're just going through a cycle of tasks until the next cycle comes in
i know theres a bigger debate on a 3yo being bad at a game or kids needing to earn their stripes for games to be a fulfilling hobby, but i think people are forgetting the original point of the headline
and yes, its dumb to have easy mode gated to specific characters when they all essentially play the same. an invincibility badge wouldve been way more customizable, and wonder's solution is more of a limitation of not wanting to program power ups to nabbit or yoshi
this era they took the modern designs and brought them to HD, and im all for them doing that with their cartoonish 2d designs. unless you want more visible mustache hair and pores on mario, this is a nice way to graphically differentiate mk8 and 9 as well
the mark i believe they'll aim for is between "god thats way too expensive" and "but fine ill pay". dont forget NSO expansion pack at launch, be prepared if its just a BIT more expensive than your first guess
More racers and potentially bigger courses, I can see it being great but we'll have to see the execution
I'd much prefer they do something different from mk8d because there's literally no way to top that games content. backwards compatibility means both games will be competing for our attention, might as well do something different so you have a reason to play either mk9 or mk8d
they want us to embrace the switch ecosystem has hard as we can, definitely a good call. who knows we might even get a switch 3 before they decide to have another weird and risky console again
what i find curious is how leaks this big havent happened sooner. like youre telling me 3rd party accessory companies were allowed to leak pics this whole time? they didnt sign any NDA, nothing? its like all at once companies realized they could get away with it
im so numb to all the leaks of images i just believe them all now. thats a switch 2, some dude brought one home already but since the games arent out they just play in system settings all day
it was an amazing time, and it also excited me for the future since like they said in its earliest trailer itd be the end of a trilogy, and they really made it feel like one. the implication that splatoon 4 will be more bold and different sounds exciting.
my mind racing with ideas like if they'll have the gaul to added even more idols to our 7, lore implications of the future of salmon run, potential changes to the weapon system, how the past/present/future splatfest will affect the theming this time, ect. its nice to know that as splatoon fan theres always something to look forward to
god right around the time they removed a bunch of cartoon network shows from their streaming service too. do they just, not know how to make good games anymore? every time i hear about warner bros its always about some bad press or grimy live service tactics
id love it but id still worry since its really easy for nintendo to just, "half ass" their casual games now. brain age, big brain academy, even switch sports to a degree. they feels less like evolving the franchise, and more like testing the waters with something quick and cheap
since its far in the past i wonder how people speculated about nintendos future during the wii u era. any console can turn the tide, but i feel sony and microsoft are definitely having their wii u moment right now of realizing they need to turn things around
also doubtful since the character was as prevalent as the mario family. kinda there to fill in some dialogue while egging on the brothers, but the plots moved passed that point already. wouldnt be surprised if the "real word" has even less screen time in the sequel
i feel this game can easily get the MK8 deluxe treatment for switch 2 and just expand on the the game. i dont think nintendo wants to give up on ultimate just yet, no way a proper sequel will be this packed again
besides the typical new fighters/stages they could re-add fan favorites modes like smash run and target test, or (please) give online a better structure than HOPING you get the very specific ruleset you want in match making

finally an ost with some meat on its bones, but im already out of the honeymoon phase with the music app. nintendo treats the app as more a supplement to dripfeed OSTs than as a replacement, so ill probably just check back in a year or something once its actually LOADED with new songs
streetpass pls im begging. heck if you dont wanna carry a whole switch with you, make streetpass attached to the joycon specifically so you only need to bring that around
At this rate you're better off joining a MP discord specifically for matchmaking, much less overwhelming than you think!
There's a wide pool of people settling up rooms to join or setting up your own, and most importantly an option for just text chatting if you're too voice shy
Still lame how barren matchmaking is otherwise. I'm already noticing bots in the bowser island modes too, makes me all the more annoyed to remember I'm paying for this "online"
