It's the same with SSBU. I remember him putting up a disclaimer that the base game is already content complete and the additional fighters are pretty much just add ons.
Ehh. Imo I don't really care if it's dull as long as the game itself is good overall. If all I care about are visuals in a Pokemon game then I should've just stopped playing after Gen 1. Performance is a different story though since ZA is more real-time action. I miss the time fans got genuinely excited when X&Y got showed off just by being 3D. The simple things. I'm not saying I'm giving Gamefreak a pass for "being lazy" but for Pokemon in general I just couldn't care less about graphical fidelity. That's just me.
Haven't started yet so keep 'em updates coming π
Had fun with the first game on the og Switch so pretty excited despite the flaws. I finished it on both Switch 1 and Steam.
Cool. But I'm still enjoying MKW so I would have to pass on this one and there's Air Riders to look forward to. Despite people's apparent dislike for World based on the comments here I still think it's better than MK8D. Plus it's an evergreen title and there're gonna be updates 100%. It's just been a few months after launch afterall.
This is the first time I would semi-embrace going all digital with the bigger games. Previously I only go digital with indies. I would still buy physical whenever I can but if it's a game-key card I'll just download it digital instead as long as a I'm genuinely interested in the game. Times've changed.
I loved Warframe and I started out on the Switch version. The only thing that frustrated me was some content was getting very difficult to finish solo and you're basically forced to find guilds online who were willing to assist you, but by and large that didn't go so well. There were a lot of crappy decisions made by the devs too, content-wise. Sucks since Warframe is a very F2P friendly game and you could even trade premium currency. I eventually transitioned to The First Descendant on PC which is basically waifu edition of Warframe lol.
Funny how a lot of people ignore how the other handhelds could only go around 30-45fps but if Nintendo does it they riot. It's 30 on PS4. Why do we expect it to run at 60? S2 has better hardware than PS4, sure, but you can't honestly expect miracles from a handheld device. Though after seeing CP2077, 30fps is already a very good experience especially if there really is a 40fps mode for integrade.
Been a fan of Gulikit controllers ever since they released the first hall effect and TMR sticks that many companies such as 8bitdo eventually adopted (the sticks are supplied by Gulikit). The only problem I had with their last flagship was the trigger button lock broke. It seems it couldn't handle excessive inputs (to be fair I was using the triggers as attack inputs for some action games). I reported the issue and they came back to me pretty fast, they said they'll design a more sturdier lock for their next flagship. I hope that's true.
For this particular controller, yeah not a fan of both sticks at the bottom. I hope they release an inverted version down the line.
I finally got my physical copy but I'll hold off a bit before I start the game. But having a more updated and complete game before I dive-in is great to see. I still have XCX and DKB anyway so it can wait.
Out of curiosity why are we still referring to EPD or EPD 8 the "Super Mario Odyssey Team"? Based on the credits there are a bunch of members from that original group that did not work on Bananza. People get shuffled around all the time. IMO it's unfair for the new people that did work on Bananza. It doesn't really matter if majority of the members are that worked on SMO are still with Group 8 but in my opinion and out of respect you name/reference the current team that worked on the latest project. There were also a large number of people in the credits that didn't work on SMO.
@Anti-Matter No one is forcing you to buy Switch 2 versions of a game. Go and play with your PS5 then. You don't need to announce it on every single article you leave a comment on. Actually, I'm already expecting you to comment the exact same thing over and over again even on non-game-key card related articles. Enough that we could actually make an entire song out of all of it.
But hey you said it yourself you have rights. Who are we to stop you.
@Benri4761 Oh right it's Wii Sports. My bad. I remember getting the MK bundle. Still it's for the motion control aspect. Also, I appreciate you making an acct just to reply:)
Anyway that's fair. But I'll stick to what I said. Again just an opinion. My last sentence? Well no not really. it doesn't undermine anything as far as I'm concerned. It it okay to be a pack in? Sure nobody will complain. Oh it's not? No biggie since if I want to play the thing then I'll get it.
@Yoshi3 Exactly my point when it comes to including the thing in the box. Is it a demo you actually want to "play"? If not then yeah don't get it. Then it's not a big deal if it's in the box or not. But you still want to try it out? Then it's a conundrum. Why do you want to play the thing? That means you're interested? Will this particular "demo" even be factor whether you get a Switch 2 or not? Being interested doesn't mean everything should be free. "But it's a freaking demo!". Exactly.
Is it really that much of an issue if it's not a pack in, for a game which doesn't really tell you to buy the thing or not. A game that's mostly just facts and trivia.
Let's be honest people just want it for free. Simple as that. 1-2 Switch had the exact same problem initially.
At least that's how I see it and again that's just me. And I respect whatever opinions others have as well.
Here's my opinion on the whole "should have been a pack-in" title for Switch 2. No, Tour doesn't need to be packed-in because it's a game that doesn't really benefit from it. If people are pretty adamant and care enough to say this should have been packed in then they probably also care enough to pay for it if they think it's interesting for what it is. Mario Kart Wii was different. Nintendo Land, at least for me, was different. They were intended to showcase what the console has to offer like mechanics and motion controls, and asymmetric gameplay. But Welcome Tour doesn't inherently need to do that because these things are either knowledge players already know, or knowledge players doesn't need to know to understand and play Switch 2.
Either you just want something for free or you're actually interested in the mini games then it doesn't matter if it's packed in or not.
Would I prefer having it as a pack-in title? Sure! Who doesn't?
@HalBailman People still visit IGN for Nintendo news? /s
Seriously after Rich and the OG gang left, IGN's Nintendo coverage went downhill. No more awesome features and interviews and stuff, etc. Peer and Altano are great but just them doesn't make things better tbh.
I'm waiting for these media outlets to drop points for technical hiccups, even after giving BotW, TotK, and even Mario Odyssey perfect scores which had far more performance issues at launch.
This is how you notice the bias between franchises and how bi-polar some reviewers are.
@N00BiSH Yeah I get it. At this point you can't really 100% change an iconic voice or people will riot. We just need to accept the fact it's not Charles that's doing it anymore.
To be honest I would have liked it if they really let him do his own version of Mario.
The only gripe I have is with Luigi's voice. It's waaay too different compared to before which put me off at first. Might grow on me though. Different actor, different voice, simple as that.
I also think it's also time to stop comparing him to Charles. We can't do anything about that anymore tbh. Kevin is doing his own thing and I respect that.
No matter how much people say these 3rd party carts (or even emulation for that matter) are for backing up their own game library (which is cool don't get me wrong), more than half of those will always use it for something else. Not surprised by this at the slightest. I can't remember how many times I saw people say they're using their own game dumps only to find out it's either their friend's dump or straight up pirated.
At least the console wasn't bricked but I'm not sure that could be remedied by factory resetting.
Gulikit always delivers imo. I love their controllers and a lot of the features like macro, remapping, PC gyro are baked into the firmware with no software needed. They're the first ones actually to implement Hall Effects and TMR to controllers way back when and 8bitdo uses their hardware for their own products.
@ViewtifulCool Sorry about "moaning". But I'm just basing it off on my other devices which have similar limits that stops at exactly on those limits (of course assuming theyβre property calibrated). Still, thanks for telling us it's normal. I'll switch it back on.
@Kapten_N @SirLink Mine's at 87% when the setting is turned on. Prior to that I tried to doing a manual battery calibration like I always do with newly bought electronics with a battery. I charge it up first at 100% then discharge the thing until it powers off by itself then charge again to 100% uninterrupted. Looks like it didn't do anything.
I'll try doing the calibration again and afterwards do the steps to reset but for now I'll turn off the 90% setting until they give us a proper fix for this.
@MamaSymphonia That is correct. But IMO the title is misleading. If what in the disclaimer is true then it should have been "Features and Upgrades" Review. I charged my Xbox elite controller in my bag once with a power bank and it was pretty warm to the touch. Granted it was summer time back then.
@Lady_rosalina I'm pretty indifferent when it comes to romance in Zelda games. I'd welcome it though but yes, not too much. If they will perhaps adapt, let's say, Skyward Sword, now that's a game with pretty obvious romance elements in it and personally I'd be fine with that.
@Mgalens Oh okay after reading through your comment again I get it now
Yes ever since that Don Mattrick fiasco everyone's on their toes whenever they hear something's "locked" behind an internet connection. And tbh that was really a concerning moment since the console would be calling home every now and then, so in a way I truly get how people are feeling now since I also owned an Xbox One. Sucks that memory is getting mixed up with a day one update.
@Mgalens I certainly get why people are upset don't get me wrong. But imo there are more pressing issues that anger could be directed at. At the end of the day, there could be tons of reasons why a device would require a day 1 update. It could be time constraints and they couldn't push updated firmware before they left the factory, or them just using the update as a deterrent for people breaking street dates. If I were to rank every single Switch 2 pre-launch "controversy" this certainly takes the bottom.
Most games launch after a system launch, so it makes sense to ensure some of those games function properly so a system update is needed prior to a game launch, no? It's the same with PC graphic drivers. Both AMD and Nvidia often release a major driver update before a popular game launch date. It could be the same here and Nintendo might just be gathering the necessary data for a more stable firmware at launch. Mario Kart World could have gotten updates after Switch 2 units left the factory. There are cases where Nintendo released system updates for games that sometimes normal game patches would not suffice. It's even possible that Mario Kart World will include the system update on the cart which they also did in the past. If the first concerns were Switch 1 games not playable on the new system, it makes sense because why would you use a feature that's "in-progress" pre-launch seeing that they're still working on their compatibility list.
A non-issue for me in this day and age. And some people are overreacting and thinking this is an online-only console. This is not an Xbox. You switch it on, update it, done. This isn't some major issue like with emulation and game-key cards and stuff. If a process as small as a day one system update ticks you off then don't buy it. I'm also gifting this to my nephew and yes it is my responsibility that it's updated and could actually play games right away before I give it to him.
