The graphics for this game rivals that of HD-2D games from Square-Enix and looks amazing. But I don't think it's hardcore enough to state that they will be waiting for the next-gen Nintendo console nor warrant a technical due diligence. If you ask me, they just don't want the trouble and should just state it as such.
If they never mentioned Nintendo in their original campaign in the first place then I wouldn't have thought of them being lazy since it's their choice of platforms. But in this case they did and they opted to state their [illogical] intentions with Nintendo hardware. So yes, IMO they're just lazy. If you ask me the reason for releasing the spin-off game on Switch is just so to squelch the complaints of the lack of a main game release on the platform.
Still, hopefully it comes to Switch since it does look pretty great.
@themightyant I've played it clocking almost 300 hours already. Yeah it's fun. Collect your waifu and grind some more. Personally I'd still say they shouldn't bother. The game runs mediocre on mobile phones so what more on the Switch? And in my experience playing the game with friends, it's pretty clear MiHoYo doesn't really care about the players when it comes to rewards, returns, and whatnot even if you already thrown a hefty amount already into the game. I'd rather recommend Honkai Impact. Oldie but goldie.
@dartmonkey I get you and hey it's the business of a running website to get the clicks. But "avoiding" is something very difficult to do if your headlines (or at least the sub-headline/subtitle) are the spoilers themselves which contains excerpts. You're suggesting to avoid these articles but that also means we have no choice but to avoid the entire website as well for this very reason. How can we follow the site, but not follow it at the same time just to avoid those spoilery article titles?
In this case (this article), the headline is perfectly fine. But adding an excerpt below : "You have very good ideas. But you won't always be right." Uhh....
"And rest assured that the book contains plenty of good stuff that we're not highlighting." Oh no doubt. Still problematic though IMO.
I think it's still too early to judge (or assume) anything. It could have been just an unfortunate circumstance. But if leadership is really at fault then it will come to light soon enough.
Not sure what kind of environment he was in when he was working that time but IMHO it's fine as long as people can differentiate "overtime"(that thing you're expected to do every now and then to meet deadlines if needed or you just want the extra pay or maybe you just don't want to go home yet) versus forced overtime (which is now commonly known as crunch). Doing overtime is quite normal and usually stipulated in employment contracts. It's an entirely different discussion when you do or told to do overtime without proper compensation for your time rendered and without consideration of the employee's circumstances. That's where the problem starts.
It's pretty easy to start heated discussions whenever the term "crunch" pops up in articles but we need to consider what's really going on behind the scenes. Was the employee properly compensated despite the "crunch"? Was there a genuine health risk? Was he asked to render the extra work or was he forced? Just a whisper from someone saying their company asked them to do some extra time, it already has the potential to become the hottest topic of the year.
Both sides' arguments were sound and we could see they don't take their own games lightly. Although in the end, NOA, from a business perspective, took the risk and that risk greatly paid off.
If I were the dev I myself might not have approved of the pack-in idea since it creates a mindset that if it were a "pack-in" it could have been thought as just a run-of-the-mill type of game. But all's well that ends well.
@Silly_G I personally don't mind since they're virtually free and as long as the base game has quite enough content (for me at least but some might think otherwise) and the staggered updates just makes the game feel fresh for months to come (gives me something to look forward to). If these were paid updates a la EA then that's an entirely different discussion. I personally enjoyed vanilla ARMs and Splatoon 2.
I would buy/upgrade to one, yes, even after getting an OLED. But only if by then I have the financial capacity to do so. I don't want to tell people "don't because it's impractical you just got your OLED blah blah blah". These days that argument won't work anymore. If you have the money to spend that's your call. You just need to see for yourself if you're gonna benefit from it or not. If not then..well lesson learned, I guess.
My personal reason though is to give my old ones to my younger siblings. That's reason enough for me.
I guess the best use of Groups are games that your are Currently Playing, Backlog, and I guess by retro or indie games.
Sorting them in groups by genre, IMO, is kinda impractical since a lot of these games have more than 1 genre/sub-genres and it's pretty hard to keep track even if you group them all up and even if you can put a game in more than 1 group.
I have seen someone group their games in Kanban Board style: Backlog->Playing->Dropped->Finished->To Buy->Interested->Sold
Something like this.
I'm glad the Iwata Asks legacy is still going strong. Not as quirky and funny when Iwata was doing it, but hey I'm still glad this exists.
Iwata: [Laughs]
The argument that Homebrew and Emulation is legal is getting old pretty fast. Although yes, technically they are legal, but showing these off publicly still indirectly promotes piracy. The act of emulation and the act of creating homebrew is fine and I've done my fair share on that. The underlying problem is not everyone shares those values. If you show them it can run dumped games, people will jump into it...even if they didn't dump the ROMs themselves.
Even if we feel bad about it, the game that was showcased in the video was a Nintendo property. They can do anything they want with their property. If people want to showcase their work on emulation then post it on forums or whatever.
My opinion and feel free to disagree. I can already see where the comment section is headed anyway.
Ever since they let themselves be bought by Sony, everything went down hill. Actually, the whole event was pretty worrying already even before the acquisitions. It was riddled with controversies from rewards to management.
They're not worried about legacy. They're worried about the money and views they could've gotten if Smash stayed. Like companies pulling themselves off from E3, people will get over it on this one.
I'm already imagining HungryBox complaining heavily on Twitter and YouTube.
Maxsoft (based in Singapore) is currently the official Nintendo distributor/supplier in SEA (though the games are mostly the US versions so SEA residents use the US eShop more than others). I don't see that changing soon but it's good to know that Nintendo themselves are extending more reach. Though I would really appreciate it if they provide actual support for these regions and not just having a "partner" for distributions of games/products.
For a company that predominantly sells US versions of the games, at least give them the option to actually have an easy access to US customer support especially when it comes to hardware problems, warranty claims, and/or software concerns. Best case scenarios I could think of based on experience (not me but my friends):
-changing the registered email of your Nintendo Account (you need to call Ninty support if you no longer have access to the original email)
-calling Ninty support if you ever lose access to your Animal Crossing data due to broken/lost device so that they could restore it on another Switch.
You can't access these services easily unless you could get a relative or friend in the US to call for you on your behalf.

I find Kirby's new mode rather cool. Too bad some doesn't see it that way though I do understand why. I see YT commenters mostly use "horrific" to describe it. Weird sure, but horrific? I don't think so. I can understand it being gross though since Kirby's basically has a mouthful of car rust. 😂
@nemecek_f Yup. Aside from the gallery I'm not particularly sure since the Android version is still version 1.0.0 so I don't know what features were added to the iOS version pre 1.6.0
I get it. No use complaining for something we get for free and I really appreciate your hard work on this useful piece of software.
I really need an actual animated movie based on the first and second game. The live-action action movie didn't really give the game justice (pun intended). Still funny though.
Me and my sis enjoyed both series (despite the -ehem-).
She got addicted to the Neptunia series after playing Super and started playing the older games right after. She just finished SK Estival Versus on Steam too.
On my watch list. I'm actually still waiting for a Senran 3. Never dabbled with the spin-offs so this could be interesting.
The only games I'm interested right now in that list is .hack//GU, Rune Factory 5, Kirby, and Chocobo GP. RPGs and Racing games is a gold combination for me. I'm still on the fence on Triangle Strategy though. Crossing fingers that it's good.
For the more obscure games I'm looking at "My Next Life as a Villainess..." (since I enjoyed the Anime), and maybe Monark.
Fun game! But I doubt TPC/GF would just drop their traditional RPGs for this one in light of the success its receiving in multiple outlets. Since they want newcomers to still experience the old formula. Just like how they're forcing Ash to stay 10 for 25 years in the shows so that the kids can relate xD
Hopefully Legends can become mainline in its own way.
If GameFreak or TPC calls it a mainline title then yes. I don't see how the players can decide this sort of thing. It can also be a secondary pillar to their mainline RPGs which doesn't need to be a spin-off. I don't think we need to think about this too seriously though.
Not sure what to think about the music but I'm really digging the art style (I'm thinking GBA/DS-era graphics) and the isometric view. It's more Diablo-esque compared to other Roguelike games.
I do enjoy turned-based games with card combat mechanics. I think the last I played was Voice of Cards and before that SteamWorld Quest. Hopefully this one impresses.

Re: Nintendo Says It Wants To Avoid A Repeat Of Wii U With Switch's Successor
The Switch successor would most likely not be branded as Switch but it'll still look like a Switch. Best of both worlds from a marketing perspective.
Re: FIFA Will Work With Other Developers To Launch Brand New Football Games
I don't care who picks it up as long as it's not EA...and not riddled with micro-transactions. Just give us a normal, darn good football game.
Can't wait for Mario Strikers btw
Re: Random: Switch Console Sales Outstrip The Poor Wii U's Total Software Sales
Ah, the Wii U. A very very under appreciated console.

They shouldn't bother to be perfectly honest.

Hoping for character unlocks by progression. Although I would'nt say no to free updates ala ARMS
Re: Reggie Fils-Aimé Recalls Touching Advice He Received From The Late Satoru Iwata
@JHardin1112 Goodluck on XCX. Once you're able to kill world bosses it'll be so satisfying!
My kid also loves Red Steel! Actually more so than any other motion controlled FPS even Metroid Prime since it uses gyro.
Re: Reggie Fils-Aimé Recalls Touching Advice He Received From The Late Satoru Iwata
@Pikachupwnage Thanks for pointing that out. I too think it's silly.
Pretty silly how reading business anecdotes can still be entertaining as reading story books.
Re: Reggie Fils-Aimé Recalls Touching Advice He Received From The Late Satoru Iwata
@JHardin1112 XCX is my #1 game on Wii U and still playing it today!
Oh god I really want a new Red Steel! One of the many highlights of the Wii era.
