Re: The Legend Of Heroes: Trails From Zero Is Getting A 'Limited Edition' Physical Release On Switch, Pre-Orders Are Live

Zyph

@Quarth AFAIK the retail releases of the Cold Steel switch ports for EU and US were special editions (I think even for PS4, not sure). For this game It's already concerning as they only have this limited edition for pre-order.

EDIT: it seems Amazon has the regular edition for pre-order https://www.amazon.com/Legend-Heroes-Trails-Zero-Nintendo-Switch/dp/B099TL61TZ/

EDIT2: I'm stupid. The Amazon link was already linked above XD

Re: Random: Nintendo Fan Creates A Steel Case For Their Switch Dock

Zyph

My friend actually modded his dock adding a water cooled cold plate in which you rest your Switch on it's back against it and docked at the same time. Even though the Switch has a plastic backplate shell it can still get very hot depending on the ambient temps so the water-cooled cold plate still is very useful. I'm not sure if he still went with his idea of 3D printing a backplate shell for his Switch with a copper back for better thermal transfer.

Gong back to this article, if he could somehow make adjustments to take advantage of the steel structure for heat transfer then ventilation could possibly be a lesser issue.

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Capcom's Monster Hunter Rise PC Port

Zyph

I compared regular gameplay from the Switch version and the PC demo uploaded on video various hosting sites and I gotta say you can't really see any difference unless you view them fullscreen side by side. For me, there's no point in double dipping. If this is your first time playing Rise then sure go for the PC version if you're the type to be allured by 4K textures and 1000fps. And if portable gaming is also your thing then wait for the SteamDeck. I'll enjoy mine on my inferior brand-spanking new OLED Switch which pretty much gives the same core experience. xD

Re: Sakura Santa Fills Stockings With, Ahem, Festive Cheer On Switch This Christmas

Zyph

I really love reading comments when it comes to articles like this.

To be fair, there are a lot, I mean a LOT of men (and FWIW women as well), that very much like content like this ("weeb" stuff as they call it?) that in the real world are also very respectful, dignified, proper human beings of society.

Saying things like "hot girls" in the comments is indeed debatable, but personally if women took the time to click on the article, it's either they agree/doesn't care about the term at all/have the same interests as with the males. Same goes for reverse harem VNs. My sister love those (even the 18+ ones). wink

I would personally just keep my mouth shut and let people talk about what they enjoy rather than planting landmines all over the place. I'm pretty sure if someone did get offended then they'll say something and start from there.

Re: Soapbox: Nintendo's Game Awards No-Show Proves It Simply Doesn't Need Anyone Else

Zyph

The Game Awards exist basically just to fuel Keighley's ego and continuously announce to the world that he's best friends with Kojima and Reggie.

...and to be a glorified platform for advertisers.

The spotlight was never the games. They announce a winner and after 1 second it's another intermission or ad. Unless it's a high profile game/publisher/category they never give the mic to the winner. And Keighley gets to have a job.

The only thing I like about the Game Awards (or award shows in general) is not the game announcements but the potential to highlight the games we voted for, even just for a split second. The game announcements I can be excited for after the fact.

Re: Sorry Folks, Fall Guys For Nintendo Switch Won't Be Released This Year

Zyph

Fall Guys was a very fun little game when it first came out. Had dozens of hours with friends playing this on Steam. Sadly cheaters destroyed this game and while waiting for patches and whatnot we got bored very early on. Regardless of how many patches they put out we literally report cheaters every time we finish a run and there was no end to it. We haven't touched the game at all this year.

Hopefully things got worked out and people try it out. Their biggest fail (understandably) was not releasing content fast enough and not releasing to other platforms fast enough. Ultimately, streamers got bored and dropped the game and other players followed.

Re: Pokémon's Diamond & Pearl Remakes Become The Second Biggest Switch Game Launch In Japan

Zyph

@Dragonite89 You're being childish. It's not about how powerful the system is to fit a thousand Pokemon nor accepting everything Gamefreak releases. It's about how practical is that especially for future Pokemon gens. You think 10,000 pokemon on a single game is practical? Move balancing, animations, etc.? It clearly shows how narrow-minded one can be.
We can comment on the animations and the models and whatnot all we want and fault the company for it. But there were design decisions that are obviously logical even from a consumer's perspective.

To each their own, sure, but you're entering "forcing my opinion on others" territory. Nobody in their right mind would just buy something just because it has a certain branding (except collectors or fanboys, I imagine). You can be a fan of a brand but you can also express disdain on a particular product of said brand.

Re: Pokémon's Diamond & Pearl Remakes Become The Second Biggest Switch Game Launch In Japan

Zyph

If I have to sum up all of the negative comments for this game on the site, I'd say the negativity is geared towards more on "the things I want like X, Y or Z didn't make it to the game" rather than the game being inherently bad. This applies to SwSh.

I'm already seeing people attacking others for enjoying the game. They could have just said it's not for them and leave it at that. It goes to show how low the Pokemon fanbase has become.

Re: Metroid Dread Version 1.0.3 Is Now Available, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

Zyph

@NoTinderLife Probably because there's still a chance you can trigger it in normal circumstances even for less experienced players and they might not like that. I'm basing that from what they're saying. I played BotW very early with minimal game updates and personally never experienced any of the speedrunning glitches...unless I wanted to.

They're not punishing speedrunners. The glitch could just get triggered inadvertently and that's a bad thing. That would make it an outright bug rather than a glitch.

Re: Metroid Dread Version 1.0.3 Is Now Available, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

Zyph

@Yosher Oh certainly. But I can still imagine some folks (even if they're not speedrunners) will still get mad and tell the devs to just leave the glitch(es) alone. This is the internet afterall. Anything that is at face value "negative" even when it's not will probably trigger someone out there. They fixed a glitch used for speed running so that potentially makes it a negative in the mind of let's say who enjoys watching Dread speedruns. It sucks yeah, but in the grand scheme of things it doesn't really matter.

Re: Metroid Dread Version 1.0.3 Is Now Available, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

Zyph

Personally I'm okay with this. If it's not by design then sure patch it up. Speedrunners should work around that. If there are still some glitches to exploit for faster runs then sure go ham. But if it's patched again I see no reason for people to become upset. People still need to respect what the original design was whether we like it or not. If not then drop the game.
