Re: Random: Sakurai Likens Boss Battles In Nintendo Games To Tutorials

I think the problem for me is that often the more free approach leads to bosses just being damage sponges that rarely have much spectacle unless you put in the time to make an elaborate trap or set up (thats normally outclassed in every way by simply having a better weapon and whacking them whenever). A set strategy can lead to difficulty, whilst still maintaining that spectacle such as most older zeldas or hollow knight

Re: Soapbox: During A Mental Health Crisis, It Wasn't Cosy Games That Helped

This was a lovely read. Its interesting how different genres of video games create a different feel within everybody, a different internal meaning to a menial task. In the same way you found racing and many people use cosy games, plenty will find refuge in rising to the top of games like Street Fighter or Smash Bros or find themselves immersed in narrative tales that resonate with them like Life Is Strange. For me, the ever whimsical and over the top worlds of games like Professor Layton or Katamari Damacy let me forget about real life logic and sink into eccentricity, and it feels nice. Things dont need to make sense in games like that. Thank you for writing this article, video games are a wonderful thing.

@Diogmites There are 6 main series Layton games (4 on DS, 2 on 3DS) and 3 major spinoffs of which only one has been released on switch, being Katrielle Layton and the Millionaire's Conspiracy. As of yet no collections have been released on switch, despite the original trilogy having HD remasters on mobile in recent years. We can hope for a switch release still, but otherwise we are getting the first new mainline game in a decade next year!

@bluemage1989 Its as purely simple as it seems, just fun. For people who make cosplays its an incredibly creative and rewarding process both just to see yourself as the character and see others reaction to your work. For others, it can be amazing to see the characters youve fallen in love with on screen come to life through the incredible skill and effort of someone with a true love for the franchise. Its just beautiful dedication through and through, made for fun rather than money and one that brings joy to others around you at Comic Cons.
