Played the demo on PS5. Was really looking forward to a return to a medieval/fantasy setting. I just could not get past the combat. FFVII: REMAKE was a great real-time/turn-based combo. This just felt like a lackluster action game to me. Maybe I will try it again.
I LOVE this game! The best racing game on the system. The extra texture pack download really made this game sing. The only third-party title to never leave my system once I downloaded it. It even came over in the system transfer to the S2. Can't wait to try it out on the new hardware!
I want CYBERPUNK, but I got it for $5.00 on PS4 during the fallout from that version and got a PS5 upgrade later. Will pick it up for S2 down the line. The other issue is the GameKey Card situation, while understandable, is not going to be largely adopted by the hardcore/early adopter crowd. I will definitely be buying YAKUZA 0 and BF: FF - REMASTERED, but on the eshop during a sale. I got MKW physical, WELCOME TOUR, and will pick up DKB in a few weeks. That is my "launch-window" line-up. Maybe if there were more original titles and not ports then the sales numbers would be different for third-parties.
I was one of the few people who was okay with the remake of the first one. The gyro controls clicked with a little bit of fiddling. Can't wait to buy this on sale too! 😉 A good Halloween purchase!
This was always my number 1 for this year as soon as it was announced. Don't get me wrong, I love the PRIME series, but my first love is action-adventure-platformers. While I am hopeful for a new 3D Mario reveal within the next 6 months, I am more than happy to roll a new DK game in the meantime!
IGN and NL's lists are similar. However, MKW is better than Wii and 64 should be higher as well. I don't know why people like Wii as much as they do. Maybe it's the same nostalgia I have for MK64, but I always found it to be floaty.
All three are decent designs, so I went with my tie-breaker test; which one would I pick up off the shelf first to have a look at the back? Surprisingly, it was the Japanese cover.
I try, I really do, out of the first 3 cups I have 3 stars on two of them. Can't remember where I am at on the fourth cup. But seriously, my family wants to roll the other cups in multi-player! Single player, though, I try to get at least 2 Stars before moving on.
Have been trying to go through some games that won't crash new hardware, lol. Tried DARKSIDERS 2 last night annnnnd.... The resolution has been bumped as has the frame rate, BUT the pacing is off. Very offputting. Here is hoping for a patch.
This game is a perfect example as to why 1-10 scales need a .5 option. This game is a solid 8.5. Mechanically it's beautiful with the racing tight (although I wish the charge jump was on a dedicated button so I could drift jump) and refined. However, the 'world' aspect in Grand Prix is hit-and-miss. The customization of karts is definitely a step back. I do love Freem Roam (so relaxing!), Knockout mode, and the music is simply wonderful for Nintendo fans. But, this game is no MK8.
I'm too busy getting used to the GIANT screen! But seriously, I have not noticed smearing and all the games I've tried look great. I was worried the resolution of Switch 1 games would look horrible. Some weird frame-rate pacing and drops, but resolution has been surprisingly solid.
This is still a 10 for me. While OoT is the GOAT, with BotW second, WW is easily third tied with Link's SNES outing (Link's Awakening is fourth). I have the HD version for WiiU, but I still prefer the non-glossy/rounded shading of the GCN version. My NSO GCN controller came the same day I picked up my S2, so I can't wait to share this treat with my kids on the controller it was meant to be played with!
As a SEGA fan, I have always wanted to give this series a go, but never purchased one on PS4 or PS5. As soon as I jumped into the eshop on my Switch 2, I put it on my wishlist waiting for a sale down the line (like I will do with the majority of Game KeyCard releases that only I in the household will play). Can't wait to grab this after my time with MKW and DK:B nears it's end.
I usually play at home, anyway, and I understand literally everything about the system is more taxing. Will just have to buy another charging brick and cable for next to the couch or when traveling.
@AllBLK Because with both the Switch 1 and 2 I was able to walk in on pre-order day and get one. No scrambling online. Also, I was able to put down $50.00 USD and pay it off over the last month and a half over two pay days. I don't usually shop there, but they've yet to let me down with a console launch.
@Polvasti
Nicely said. I am fine getting the GameKey cards for games all of the family plan on playing. Rather do that then the Virtual Card lending. As for games just for me that are only on GameKey cards? I'll wait for a sale on the eshop, lol.
I loved the Capcom NES title back in the day, but watching this during the Mix Showcase did nothing for me. I knew immediately what it was and am sad I am not more hyped.
Woke up to this trailer this morning. Have been supporting NO MAN'S SKY since launch on PS4. Sean Murray and Hello Games have really supported the community more than any other team I can think of. The fact I will be able to take my Switch 1 copy and plunk it in my Switch 2 tomorrow and it's the new version is wonderful. I hope more third parties follow suit. Can't wait for LIGHT NO FIRE.
I stepped into Gamestop back in early 2017 to pre-order BOTW for WiiU. I stepped out having put down a deposit on a Switch w/Grey Joy-Cons and the Collector's Edition of BOTW. I loved the WiiU and was still regularly playing my 3DS outside of regular PS4 play. I knew the Switch would be amazing, but I did not realize that it would ultimately become my most played Nintendo console. The portability (weekends at the in-laws) was part of it, but more than that was the overall versatility in game types and circumstances. Playing 1, 2 SWITCH in tabletop mode with my kids, MARIO PARTY on family game nights. Pokemon Puzzle League duels with my wife on her Switch Lite and me rocking the OG. Everyone visiting eachother's islands in AC (all the kids now have Lites as well). TETRIS 99 is a constant I never knew I needed in my life. The shear breadth of retro games has turned my Switch into a mini-arcade; 600+ games in my collection. It's ticked off so many boxes for me. I never bought the OLED. It was tough, but I knew the S2 would be here at some point (not EIGHT years after the S1, but it is what it is). I am bummed at the S2 not having 100% backwards compatibility, especially when just the words 'FINAL FANTASY' are on Nintendo's official compatibility issues list, but I am hopeful patches will iron these out if the S2 is a hit. I want to keep rolling on with my collection, with great 1st party titles, and the wonder of 'impossible ports' (come on DOOM: THE DARK AGES, INDIANA JONES, and PERFECT DARK!!!). Sure, I have a PS5 with a Portal, so I can play the big third-party AAA titles WiiU-style on my couch. But for some reason, it's just not the same. There is a kind of magic knowing a big-budget behemoth is running natively on your handheld. DOOM 2016 is still my main benchmark for the OG Switch. I had it on PS4, but my mom snagged me a Switch copy for Christmas that year. And it's still the one I go back to. So much so, that I never bought ETERNAL on our PS5; I waited for the Switch version and downloaded it at launch for $60, just so I could see if Panic Button pulled it off. In my mind, it's insane what they accomplished, even at 30 fps it plays great. Maybe that's what the Switch represents to me; the magic of gaming. With some of my friends pushing me to build a PC or just get a SteamDeck and with the constant barrage of micro-transaction-heavy online/sports/shooter games flooding the market, as always, The Big N is keeping gameplay and invention front and center. I know I will feel like a kid waiting for Christmas when that first trailer for the next 3D Mario is revealed, I know I will hope for a new STAR FOX or F-ZERO reveal at every Nintendo Direct, I know that Nintendo will do their best to not release a game "until it is ready" as often as they can (MARIO KART WORLD was in development for HOW LONG!?), and I know that I will now get to share my GCN memories with my children. If you read all this, thank you for indulging me. I love this community. It's been my main gaming site since the Wii days. I guess I can sum up my love for the Switch with this; I get to play GOLDENEYE with my kids with actual N64 pads in high-def. I'm ready for another 8 years of great gaming memories. Let the good times roll.
Thanks everyone! I have the Galaxy Flip Z and love the protective film that it came with (using it now, lol). Never got the OLED as I was waiting for the inevitable S2 or PRO. 3 DAYS TO GO!!!!
@Serpenterror What I meant was it's not one of their premier IPs; Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Animal Crossing, Star Fox, Kirby, etc. Those should stay on Nintendo platforms only. They could afford letting something like XENOBLADE be on GamePass so that we can get HALO and some Rare goodies.
I hope this is true. Letting some of their more niche franchises over to other platforms shows goodwill and may net the Switch 2 more Microsoft titles.
I would love a remaster of OTHER: M with analog controls. I love the combat system. I wish the game was longer and the story is.... something. But, man I love the action. And pointing the remote to fire missiles worked great. I swear people didn't realize you could flick the remote to dodge while in that mode....
Was able to pre-order one from the NOA store. So psyched, as it took a year for me to get a couple of N64 pads! Can't wait for my kids to play Windwaker with one of the most original controllers ever!
Reading comments like these makes me think the system is really capable of running at XBOX Series S levels; and maybe a little higher. I believe it's basically a PS4 PRO, but software and driver improvements over the last few years will hopefully let it be capable of more current ports. I am waiting to see what STAR WARS: OUTLAWS looks like...
@deecas Same here. Any Game-Key releases (unless something the whole family will play) I will wait for a sale and buy digitally. I have OUTLAWS on PS5, but will probably get it on the eshop once it hits a decent sale.

Same here. Any Game-Key releases (unless something the whole family will play) I will wait for a sale and buy digitally. I have OUTLAWS on PS5, but will probably get it on the eshop once it hits a decent sale.
Re: Talking Point: With Prices Rising, Are Your Gaming Habits Changing?
GamePass on Switch2 would be insane. TBH, I usually only buy first-party Nintendo games at full price; everything else on sale. Also, with the Key-Card situation, I will just wait until those games go on sale on the e-shop; just like I did with last gen with download codes in-box. Honestly, I don't think much will change for my gaming habits.
Re: Ubisoft's Switch 2 Physical Release Of Star Wars Outlaws Is A "Game-Key Card"

Re: Talking Point: Will You Be Buying Any Game-Key Card Switch 2 Games?
If it's a game my family will be constantly sharing, so I don't have to send a Virtual Card constantly, then yes. Only game I didn't do that with was Arkham Trilogy as I wanted Asylum at least physically.
