Re: Talking Point: Does Switch 2 Have Nintendo's Best Launch Line-Up Ever?

WhiteTrashGuy

The GBA and GCN were pretty solid. Switch2 is not too shabby. That being said, I voted for the SNES. SMW, Pilotwings, and F-ZERO is a pretty solid first-party line-up. Add ACTRAISER and SUPER GHOULS AND GHOSTS in the launch window and it's stellar. Maybe if DK was Day 1, then the S2 would edge it out. Also, as for a launch YEAR line-up.... Switch 1 for sure.

Re: First Impressions: Nintendo Switch 2 'Wows' Most When You Go Back To Your Old Switch

WhiteTrashGuy

I think the performance boost will be most evident down the line. Let's see if we get some good Microsoft ports; Bethesda, ID, etc. At the end of the day, this feels like the DS to the 3DS for me; which is nothing to sneeze at. However, it does not feel like a proper console generational leap. That said, I figured $400-$450 USD would be the price and I am fine paying that. The thing that's killing my excitement is the increase in price for the software. I already had a hard time keeping up for my family and this hobby. I typically wait for my PS5 titles to drop to $30-$40 USD; partly because I know first-party Nintendo titles don't go on sale and I need to budget. Now, the big releases are $70-$80 USD? Kirby and Mario Party Switch 2 editions are $80??? This will keep me from fully jumping in on day one. Even though I NEED DK: BANANZA in my life!

Re: Digital Switch 2 Games Being Cheaper Than Physical Is A "Challenge", Says Retailer GAME

WhiteTrashGuy

TBH. I have always felt that digital versions should be $10.00 USD to $20.00 USD cheaper. Of course that was BEFORE the price increase of the cartridges. Also, the Game-Key option seems like a happy medium the more I think about it. Keep the cost down, but still allow you to sell the "cartridge" down the line if you want. It sucks, but felt something like this was going to happen with the larger file sizes of PS4/PS5 and XB1/XBX games. It's the N64 all over again, lol.

Re: Nintendo Drops Teaser Video For The Switch 2's 'C' Button

WhiteTrashGuy

@rjejr
Thanks! I've actually been saying it for years along with the possibility of a VR headset that the S2 slides into since the added horsepower could put out dual images better than we got with Labo. I just really miss the asymmetrical multi-player the WiiU had. My family still plays our WiiU regularly. Bring on NINTENDOLAND 2!!!!

Re: Rumour: Zelda Live-Action Movie Will Reportedly Be Part Of A "Trilogy"

WhiteTrashGuy

@harrystein
I saw the original live-action SMB movie twice on opening weekend. I have all 3 collectible 7-11 promotional slurpee cups. I imported the blu-ray from Australia. I take the SMB movie for what it is; a live-action adaptation. And I enjoy the hell out of it. The new SMB animated film ended up being what I feared it would; a by-the-numbers Illumination production (Luigi sidelined the whole movie!?!?!). However, still took thr kids to see it in 3D. The Sonic movies do what they do and are at least partially faithful to the video games. What I meant from my comment was that Zelda needs to be better than all of these in order for Nintendo to allow a trilogy to be made. This isn't Sony/Constantin films pumping out 9 RESIDENT EVIL flicks because zombies=$$$. I am sure that if Zelda is mediocre in quality, it will still make money. They just need to remember the magic word; verisimilitude.

My Limited Run Games copy of CASTLEVANIA: DOMINUS COLLECTION finally arrived! Held off from double-dipping. First time playing OoE and the art is the best of the handheld entries. HAUNTED CASTLE: REVISTED was pretty rad, too. Also, I forgot how good PORTRAIT OF RUIN actually is! Just more evidence as to why CASTLEVANIA is my favorite video game franchise.

Re: Poll: So, How Would You Rate The Nintendo Direct For March 2025?

WhiteTrashGuy

This was a hard one. Not many games for me personally. It's clear that Nintendo is going to position the Switch/Lite as a cozy games/general audiences device with 90% of their AAA and AA output focused on the Switch2. A great strategy TBH, at least until the Switch2 Lite with a new Animal Crossing drops. It was awesome to see new gameplay of MP4 (energy shot bending!) and the reveal of Tribute working on a Marvel beat-em-up had me giddy. My kids have been wanting a new Tamogatchi Life, so that will make them happy. Also, being able to share digitally purchased games easier within our household will definitely alleviate some issues. Was sad we didn't see some new ports for Kirby, Kid Icarus, F-Zero, or Star Fox. Hopefully there will be full-on HD GCN support for the Switch2. Only a little under a week to go!

Re: A Hidden 60fps Mode In Xenoblade Chronicles X Gives Us Hope For A Switch 2 Upgrade

WhiteTrashGuy

I hope this is indicative of upgraded frame rates and resolution patches being available for Switch 1 software on the new console. So may games would benefit of it's relatively easy to implement or is hardware based. Never having a PS4 Pro, when we got our PS5 being able to play many of my older games in 60 fps was a game changer (no pun intended). So much so that now Performance Mode is my preferred way to play all PS titles. FPS > Graphics all day long!

Re: Opinion: The Best Tony Hawk Game Is Grinding Back, And I Can Only Hold My Breath

WhiteTrashGuy

If I remember correctly, THPS3 was my third GCN game I bought after ROGUE SQUANDRON and LUIGI'S MANSION. I believe I picked it up with NBA STREET. Adding the revert opened up so many amazing lines. And unlockable Wolverine!?!?!? That's the one thing I miss with these remasters as we got Spidey in 2, Wolvie in 3, and 'Ol Shell Head in 4 thanks to Activision's deal with MARVEL at the time (and of course that Neversoft developed the SPIDER-MAN PS1/N64/DC WITH the Tony Hawk engine, no less!). The only detractor for 3 on GCN was that darn super tiny D-Pad as it was my preferred input choice. The first game on N64 will always hold a special place in my heart, but MAN did I sink a lot of hours into THPS3. Can't wait to roll the Airport again this Summer to some Motorhead!

Re: Talking Point: What We Expect From The Switch 2 Direct

WhiteTrashGuy

Man, I'm boring! Realized with this poll the thing I am most excited for is backwards compatibility with the OG Switch. I mean, playing PS4 games on PS5 for the first time blew me away as I could see what a PS4 Pro had offered. I hope Switch 2 can provide some sort of upscaling through patches.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (1st March)

WhiteTrashGuy

MK8LX with the family. Maybe some GOLDENEYE as well (my kids prefer it to PD!). TBH, I picked up some PS5 games on sale. ROBOCOP: ROGUE CITY had been on my wishlist for a while so I grabbed that. But a game called WANTED: DEAD popped up in an "Underated Hack 'N Slash" video I was watching. Did some research and it's basically DEVIL'S THIRD 2 (DEVIL'S FOURTH?)! Now, I recognize how janky the aiming is in that game, but I loved everything else. I also discovered that Itagaki supervised the making of SAMURAI JACK: BATTLE THROUGH TIME. I slept on that one and now it's delisted with copies running $100.00 USD+ used. So I bought WANTED:DEAD. It feels like the Valhalla team's attempt at a SUDA 51 game. I like it!

Re: Turok Receives A New Update For Nintendo Switch, Here's What's Included

WhiteTrashGuy

@sketchturner, @EVIL-C
I remember reading about SEEDS OF EVIL for months. So blown away by the first game (my third N64 game, my first $80.00 USD game, and the game that forced me to buy a memory pak), that I couldn't help but be excited. So I stood there, in Target, looking back and forth at SEEDS OF EVIL and ROGUE SQUADRON. I wanted a game that took full advantage of my new Expansion Pak. I chose SEEDS OF EVIL, despite my loyalty to that galaxy far, far away. While I loved the music, levels, and animation, the flow felt off. I rented ROGUE SQUADRON a few days later and realized my fatal mistake. I ended up selling SEEDS OF EVIL a few weeks later, for far less than I paid. I never bought ROGUE SQUADRON. It still haunts me to this day. I have all three TUROK games on the Switch. However, I have physical copies of 1 and 3... 2 only digitally. That certainly says something. (BTW, TUROK 3 is amazingly fun. Like a crazy sci-fi action movie with nice call-backs to the first game.)

Re: Nintendo Switch 2 Doesn't Need To Worry About Steam Deck Sales

WhiteTrashGuy

I have friends who have been trying to convince me to buy a Steam Deck over the past few years. I bought a Playstation Portal instead. Between my PS5 and Switch (and the fact that I usually take my DS or 3DS when flying) I don't really have a need for it. 90% of the indie titles I want to play come to Switch (DEAD CELLS took too long and come ON The Rogue Prince of Persia!) The Big AAA titles are usually on my PS5. Switch2 will be a day-one. No need for a Steam Deck.
