If true, this follows what we all assumed would happen. A teaser trailer in January showing off the system and then a larger presentation in February/March closer to the system's late Spring launch. The only thing that surprises me is the possibility of Mario Kart 9 being the launch title with Mario shipping for the holidays. I would have thought they would launch with a new 3D Mario title to get the hardcore gamers out there to buy on day one and Mario Kart 9 being the big holiday release for the families (watch it just be Mario Kart 8 Ultimate with all of the DLC included, lol).

I'm hoping for backwards compatibility with upscale via patches. Obviously (if it is even possible) this would be up to the developers to patch the games. But the jump from a base PS4 to PS5 enhanced 60 fps on titles like GoW and GHOSTS OF TSUSHIMA was so amazing I am hoping for something similar for the Switch. That would be a great incentive for me to upgrade as I am still using my launch system.

I remember pre-ordering this in December of 2004 and GameStop provided a demo disc. It was the opening of the game through the village sequence where the bell rings and the game starts proper. My friends and I would do runs over and over every night until the release. The Gannados moved so realistically for the time and reacted to your actions. Every run felt unique. When we picked up the game it came with a 'Making Of' DVD that I still have to this day. After we beat the game, MERCENARIES runs took over our existence for the next two years. A seminal game and truly 2005's GOTY. I own it on GCN, Wii, WiiU Digital, Switch Digital, Meta Quest 2, and of course the REmake on PS5 (which met all of my expectations).

A new 3D Mario at launch seems like a must with MARIO KART 9 in September. Also, show how METROID PRIME 4 will run 1080p 60fps on the S2.

Yep, finally time to breakdown and get. Wish there was a physical copy.

My Switch is primarily used at home om the couch or when visiting family for an extended weekend. If I fly I usually take my DS Lite or 3DS with me. I have the Playstation Portal and the screen on the S2 is supposed to be the same size and resolution. TBH, it's hefty, but really feels like the full console experience with the larger screen. I imagine a S2 Lite will release in Fall of 2026.

A Direct / Presentation is coming. I really like what they did in January 2017 for the original Switch, but that was a "make-or-break" situation after the WiiU did not hit. I feel like they could get away with a trailer or a "one more thing" in a standard Direct; especially if they don't look at releasing it until Summer or Fall. Trailer at the end of January with a full reveal in late Spring for a September release??

I'm hoping we can choose optimization in the settings so we can run "Docked" speeds in handheld (if it doesn't cause the system to catch fire). I can deal with a 1.5 to 2 hour battery-life of it ups performance.

Have the original as an unlockable and I'm sold.

I feel like they will go with LCD out of the gate to keep costs down and then release the OLED in a year or two. I have a Playstation Portal and the large 1080p LCD is pretty nice.

At this point, I'm playing TETRIS 99 here and there throughout the week so.... Probably do some more on TMNT: MUTANTS UNLEASHED. Got it for Christmas and, even though the performance is dodgy, the love for the franchise and faithfulness to the new movie's take on the characters is fantastic. Will probably log some more hours on OUTLAWS and SPACE MARINE 2 over on the PS5 (the Portal has been amazing this past year!). And am itching to finally pick up HELL KNIGHT while onsale. So maybe some twitchy twin-stick goodness as well! HAPPY NEW YEAR, NL FAM!!!!

I love PUNCH-OUT!! as a series. The Wii version was probably the best we could have hoped for in terms of a new entry. I can always boot it up on the old WiiU for a go, but I do look forward to some sort of revival (unless ARMS really was supposed to be the new PUNCH-OUT!!).

When the Switch was announced and I saw the controller design I figured we would see many different colors and configurations; especially a dedicated d-pad option from The Big N themselves. I eventually bought many of the Hori D-Pad joy-cons here in the States (Two Mario, Two Zelda, and Pokemon). However, they all got the dreaded drift really bad. Ordered the Japanese exclusive Blue edition from PlayAsia and it's been amazing. That and my Green right Joy-Con make up my "Luigi" style Switch and I love it. The rumble in the right con is usually enough for most games so no biggie there. Also have sets of the BinBok controllers that are better than the Hori Split-Pad IMO. I hope Nintendo gives us more interesting options in terms of JoyCon this time around. Or at least let third parties go wild!

I really liked FRONTIERS. I know a lot of people felt luke-warm about it, but I thought the open zones allowed for some great speed and platforming. Do something with that control scheme and design, but with classic Sonic levels as the zones.

Not surprised MH: RISE is up there. I finally broke down and downloaded it as well this Summer. Oh, and SUIKA GAME FTW!!!

My game of last Summer. And as Nintendo advised me, my most played game of the year, lol.

Got four new games for Christmas. STAR WARS: OUTLAWS and SPACE MARINE II on PS5. TOMB RAIDER I-III REMASTERED and TMNT: MUTANTS UNLEASHED on Switch. Have played them all, but man is WARHAMMER 40K: SM2 good! Star Wars is scratching that open-world itch. Tomb Raider is always fun. TMNT is really faithful to the new movie's universe, but framerate is rough; hope Switch 2 fixes a lot of these issues with game patches. And, of course, I will be playing some OG TETRIS on NSO NES and some rounds of TETRIS 99. Happy New Year, everyone!

Still have my GBA and PS1 copies. V is just this great fantasy epic. It really was the final fantasy as, after that, future-tech started seeping into the games. I feel like V would benefit the most from a modern remake, but I would be happy with HD-2D as well.

It HAS gotten better. I jump in here and there, but the severs are dead. Only good for local MP or single player at this point. It's too bad, too, because Conquest in BF2 has always been fantastic.

This and Factor 5's ROGUE SQUADRON collection for Wii are the two hardest cancelations for me to grapple with. Both would have sold crazy. AND both teams had a history of getting the most out of The Big N's hardware. I mean Free Radical was made up of many ex-Rare folks from the N64 days. All of the footage from BF3 looked phenomenal; no matter the platform. Such a sad state and it's only gotten worse for developers in the years since.

Holding off until my Limited Run copy comes in February. Hope it includes these updates on the cartridge!

I really liked the 2017(?) reboot (except for the finale). The characterization were solid. Wish they got a sequel with Tommy!

I was 10/11 when POWER RANGERS released in the States, so was just out of the intended demo.
However, I did watch the Green Ranger Saga and love Tommy. Sooooo.... I guessss.....

I think this is legit and I am fine with just a more powerful Switch with a larger screen. I would love if you could stream the image from handheld to the dock so we could bring back Nintendoland and other WiiU only gameplay ideas.

Saw a STEAM trailer for this over the Summer. Very glad this is coming to Switch. Hope it turns out okay.

Have had it digitally for as long as I can remember. This is the push to track down a physical copy for preservation purposes.

This is the one I have been waiting for! I love the original Dreamcast version of Capcom Vs. SNK and 2 on the GCN was pretty great too. The fact that both POWER STONE games are on this collection just cements it as an excellent 2000s era collection.

Nintendo will have a big SWITCH 2 reveal event in January. Announcing a Spring/Summer 2025 release with a new 3D Mario title launching alongside it. Maybe we will get a MP4 Direct soon with a release date.

Instantly started playing in my head when I read your comment.

Reading recently that the concept for CROC was originally a pitch by Argonaut Software to Nintendo for a 3D Yoshi game has me interested in picking it up. Always read good things about it, but never played it myself.

Not for that price. This game should have been $39 to $49 USD max. They are looking to grab people that did not play it the first time around. Guess I will just play the myriad of other platformers available.

I would love 3D to make a return. Especially with the system being able to push 1080p, we could get some really great ports.

I am thinking these would be announced to come out later in the year. Really depends on when MP4 releases as they may want to release them to build up hype or save them for more OG Switch releases into late '25 or early '26. Easy support for the installed user-base.

Just picked up my physical copy of MVC: FIGHTING COLLECTION on Switch. I held out from buying it digitally!!!! LOL. I will definitely be taking this with me to the on-laws' house for Thanksgiving!

The DS Lite might be the nicest looking handheld ever designed.

The NA covers for DOUBLE DRAGON I & II are some of my favorites of all time. But, honestly, this cover is the one that always pops in my head first when I think about the franchise. NA / EU FTW!!!

Just tried out VICE CITY and, while I understand what Grove Street Games was trying for, the Classic Lighting is pretty nice. Combat feels better too.
