I can deal with spotty visuals. Honestly, if the graphics really are that bad here, then the score should be a 4 or 5. The combat options are fun, but everything is very floaty and your attacks lack any feeling of impact. That's what ultimately killed this game for me on PS5.
If sales are strong and they have a new DK or PRIME IV to drop this Holiday, then I can believe an official announcement in January with a roll-out between March and June. I really don't think they can wait until September 2025 to release the system as most of their teams are probably devoted to Switch2 development at this point.
This game, man. My friends and I spent seriously too much time swatting flies in this game. One of my friends was going through a Rob Liefeld drawing phase and used that dang mouse to create a pretty amazing Spider-Man rip-off with a 20-pack, lol. Oh, and NA/Europe box art, all the way.
It's interesting to see these. I was never expecting much more. HOPED for better "missions." That being said, for my child who loves learning about the ocean, this will definitely be on my purchase list for them.
Almost pre-ordered the physical copy. Glad I waited. I guess I could play it elsewhere, but really wanted it on Switch. Guess I will have to wait and see....
Really hate that this is going into early access first; especially after the long wait for DEAD CELLS on home consoles. That being said, I was just thinking yesterday how the art style from the PoP comic book many years ago would be interesting for a game. And well, this is pretty darn close. Will be watching this closely.
I remember this game was pretty huge among my friends. We were always looking for the best "hardcore-gamer" experiences on the system and this one was on our radar for about a year before its release. People want to peg the Wii as a "console for kids and family," but it was really just a typical Nintendo system; something that offers a wide variety of experiences. Sure, the majority of games for the hardcore audience were on 360 and PS3 at the time, but games like MURAMASA showed there were really beautiful and interesting titles on the Wii as well.
I really wish PoP 2008 was on Switch. I know that game is very divisive, but I have probably played through it about 10+ times. The platforming and combat (which harkens back to the original title's one-on-one battles) have a wonderful trance-like flow and the story is told mainly through your interactions with the Princess in real-time as there is constant dialogue throughout. You can also stop and choose to talk to her at any point while you plot your course through the open-ended areas of the world. It feels like an interactive movie. While Sands Of Time is a classic, this game is more than worthy of the PoP name.
I was a big fan of the first one (have it on WiiU and Switch). While the long wait for the Switch version of the sequel has sucked, I'm glad its finally here. These guys know how to make a good platformer!
IGN's Nintendo New Virtual Boy is okay. I actually think the Switch2 will have a head-housing that allows for VR/AR on it. LABO was the testing ground.....
@Grackler Even with these fixes, it's a 7... max. There are just so many graphical/sound issues that just boggle the mind. These were OG X-BOX games.... I just don't understand. This thing should run 720/60 in handheld, no problem. SMH.
Now that the update is live, I will be properly diving into the BATTLEFRONT CLASSIC COLLECTION on Switch and, of course, more HELLDIVERS 2 on PS5. FREEDOM DOESN'T SLEEP!
@OldManHermit Yeah, I remember playing SLAVE ZERO on Dreamcast. Pretty fun. This looks like something from my dreams! Definitely up my alley. Will probably be pre-ordering it soon, lol.
I put Castlevania: Advance Collection on here as all three of those are definitely comfort food for me at this point. Of course Tetris, and now Suika Game, are stand-bys. However, TBH, for the past 5 years or so, I usually put on one of the Marvel's Spider-Man games on PS4/PS5 with my 80s rock mix on Spotify (Motley Crue, G&R, AC/DC, Van Halen, etc.) and just make "music videos" of Spidey web-swingin' and stopping crimes. It's my happy place.
@NDK
I looked that up on Reddit last night. Someone who was with Nintendo doing approvals for four years said it depends on the workload of the approval team as they first have to go through and verify what's being updated and then make sure nothing in the code will interfere with the OS' processes. He said, typically, it's 3 to 4 days, but could take longer depending on how many approval reps they have assigned.
I read these when they popped up around midnight last night. I hope it hits the Switch soon. Good to know the Y-inverse option was just 'hidden,' right.... (rolls eyes.)
@VarunKK Agreed! I understand both ways, but playing with "regular" controls creates a disconnect that takes me out of the experience a bit. Can't really explain it.
@LikelySatan And I was just in the shower thinking about how I'm so happy to be part of a community that does not devolve into hate towards inverted players... c'est la vie. ; )
@PKDuckman Thank you for confirming. I was just checking how long it took them to update Jedi Outcast with y-inversion. About 3 weeks.... Freaking Aspyr. I really didn't think they would make the same mistake again.
Can we confirm that there is no way in the game to invert the on-foot camera? The SwitchUp review made no mention of this, but it's all over Reddit. I almost pre-ordered, but glad that I held off. Going to play mostly single player, but having to constantly change my stick orientation in the System Settings is frustrating.
I liked what it had to offer. Loved the art style. But, man, the tired map and level structure.... The difficulty was non-existent. SM3DL and SM3DW were amazing with their bite-sized courses and challenge. Really don't understand why there weren't more levels or difficulty options. This game needs a DLC pack for the hardcore Mario fans. This game was an 8 for me. And seriously... WHERE THE HECK IS ROSALINA!!!!!!
The mini-games in New Super Mario Bros. were fantastic and really made great use of the dual-screens and bottom touch-screen interface. I honestly played those more than the main game.

Re: Mortal Kombat 2 Movie Launches In Cinemas October 2025
@MagicEmperor
Had the same thought a few months ago and watched it again. It may not have been 'bad'.... It's just sort of 'there.'
Re: Mortal Kombat 2 Movie Launches In Cinemas October 2025
Will we actually have a tournament this time.....?
Re: Talking Point: Which Games Were Just The Perfect Length?
SANDS OF TIME and MIRROR'S EDGE spring to mind. Most CASTLEVANIA titles. I thought SUPER MARIO ODYSSEY was a little ludicrous with their moon pieces.

Finally time to buy RISE!
Re: Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection Update 2 Out Now On Switch, Here Are The Full Patch Notes
Regardless of how crappy it is, I still have a lot of fun playing Galactic Conquest in handheld mode.
Re: Review: Slave Zero X (Switch) - Slick, Stylish, But A Hot Mess On Switch
Almost pre-ordered the physical copy. Glad I waited. I guess I could play it elsewhere, but really wanted it on Switch. Guess I will have to wait and see....
Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting Endless Ocean: Luminous?
My daughter is really into Oceanography right now, so will definitely be picking this up for her.
Re: Nintendo Expands Switch Online's N64 Library With Two More Titles
I loved all the EXTREME G games. Only ones that ever came close to touching F-ZERO IMO (sorry WIPEOUT fans).
Re: Soapbox: Where The Heck Is Fallout 3 On Switch?
Honestly, after Skyrim was shown in the original trailer for the system I figured it was just a matter of time for FALLOUT 3 to drop.
Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Indie World Showcase Predictions - What Do You Expect To See?
METAL SLUG TACTICS with a solid release date. I'm also hoping to get an official confirmation that THE ROGUE PRINCE OF PERSIA will be on Switch.
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Kirby Super Star
Japan. Simply because burnt wood working is boss.

I will definitely be waiting for more details. SoT is one of my favorite games of all time, so I am weary. No Yuri = Bad. New Combat Mechanics = Good.

Re: Round Up: It's April Fools' Day, Here Are The Best Gaming Gags We've Seen (2024)

MARVEL VS. CAPCOM 2 was the big tip-off for me. THAT one will be a hard get (depending on Capcom's agreement with Marvel).

Re: Talking Point: What Games Would You Like To See Given The 'Gold Master Series' Treatment?
Yu Suzuki would be pretty high up there for me. Honestly, I would love a Master System(s) compilation, much like ATARI 59. Or Intellivision.

Wow, a new SLAVE ZERO game...? I am assuming it's related to the older title... but we know what they say about assuming...
Re: Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection Update 1 Outlined, Here Are The Full Patch Notes
@NDK
Just checked again, a few hours ago. Been playing starship battles only in BF2 while we wait... (and some HELLDIVERS 2...)
Re: Talking Point: What's Your Perfect Sunday Morning Game?
@garfreek
KICKSTART MY HEART, PANAMA, and SHOOT TO THRILL (while wearing the MCU Iron Spider suit
; ) ).
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Super Scribblenauts
Not going to lie, I really would have dug the Japanese title with English over the different objects. Really explains what the game is about in mind.

Would be playing BATTLEFRONT CLASSIC COLLECTION, but, you know, Aspyr.
Re: Talking Point: What's Your Personal Favourite Super Mario Game?
This was a hard one, because I love SM64 sooooooo much. That being said, SMB3 is the perfect Mario Bros. game. Sorry World.

ROFL. I thought about buying it and just trying to play space missions until it's patched! Daddy needs his Galactic Conquest fix!!!
