@SykoMuffin Agreed. NSMBU was not the Mario title I wanted at the WiiU's launch. The art style and lack of imagination is dull as heck. But the moment to moment platforming is great. And that last Bowser fight sits rent-free in my head. NSMBU is nowhere near the heights of other Mario titles, but it's a better game than Wonder, if even just by a hair.
I've rolled the demo four or five times now. The gameplay is pretty solid. This game has been an enigma since it was first announced, bat dang if the polish isn't there im spades. Will get this on sale as I want it on S2 over PS5 and do not typically pay full price for download-only titles.
@coolioam
Wonder is the most overrated Mario game IMO. I pre-orderd it and was left wanting so much more. I love the new art style and the wonder-sections are neat, but the course design and platforming do not impress. I've tried going back to it several times thinking I'm missing something and still feel the same way. Out of the two mascot-platformers released that Fall, SONIC SUPERSTARS was the better game.
@AnonyQ
NSMBU is a much better 2D Mario game. The new art style is aces, but the level design, bosses, and progression was overall fairly weak. It's a 7, simple as that.
This was my highlight from the Direct. After reading interviews with the developers during GamesCom last year, I am pretty hyped for this and glad it is coming to S2. They are developing the FPS and Third-Person modes independently from each other to ensure they both feel great to play and not just a camera change. The Mantles (body armor) are pulling from Native American lore. I have really high hopes for this. The marketing so far has been pants. I urge anyone interested to seek out some interviews from last Summer.
Its weird. Most of the games I am hoping to see weren't on this list. I want the RE 2, 3, and 4 remakes, but think closer to Halloween is more likely. Honestly, I want Microsoft to come out with some big titles on the S2. DOOM: TDA is the big one, but howabout some Forza, HALO, Call of Duty, Rare Replay, Sea of Thieves, Gears, and NINJA GAIDEN 4? Oh, and show off some gameplay from Indy. I reckon STARFIELD has also been bandied about. Or Oblivion: Remastered? Finally, give me some more James Bond footage running on the S2, IO!!!
As the WiiU loomed, this was my last non-used title I bought for the system. A fitting end of the era. The combat system is great and I have been wanting to go back to it over the last few years. It really felt like a progression of what Square proper tried to do with FFXII.
Having this on S2 would excellent, if not I will definitely be grabbing the PS5 version. I am thinking any Microsoft announcements will come in the next Nintendo Direct. COME ON DOOM: THE DARK AGES and DIABLO IV!!!!
@johnedwin I know in the gaming communities I frequent, FF is still popular. I feel like the current want is for updates/remakes of their classics. I would love to see a remake of V in this style. The main issue I see is that the reception for both 15 and 16 was lukewarm. I fell off of 15 and never purchased 16; the demo did not do it for me. If they are working on 17 they need to really provide a grand adventure. Lean into the combat systems introduced in the VII remake games or provide interesting layers to turn-based gameplay.
$40.00 USD is the absolute sweet spot for this. With sales surely coming in three to six months. This pricing just shows how ludicrous Nintendo has been lately with theirs (DKCR:HD anyone...?).
@westman98 That's weird. I thought the Switch 2's screen supported VRR. So, just the screen does, but not TV output? I don't have it hooked up to one of my 2.1 inputs as I mainly play handheld.
Just give me an actual design. Or GREEN!!! I would take green! A nice dark emerald or forest green.... Oh, and ones with a dedicated D-Pad would be nice. Come on Hori! Get crackin'!!!
Christmas and the sales hit me good. Recieved MP4: BEYOND (S2) & SPLATOON 3 from family. Picked up ROGUE PoP, SHINOBI: AoV, PWRWSH SIM, and SILVER BULLET during the sale. Will probably also roll some SPLINTERED FATE S2 EDITION as I got the 4K trilogy as well for Christmas and am in a TMNT mood. Finally, to the cat rolling PANDORA'S TOWER on Wii.... I see you.
Got this as a Christmas present from the kids. Holy crap is everything seriously streamlined! While 2 always felt like 1.5 to me, this feels like a proper sequel. I am having a blast so far pinponging between this and MP4: BEYOND. OH, JOY!!!!
If you are making a huge open world game, the I am fine with AI designing trees and texture/art assets for larger areas. Towns, dungeons, characters should all be done by artists. As for AI characters.... A mix of both as well. Story and quest characters should be written and voiced by human artists. Just general background townsfolk? AI could be hilarious for these non-essential characters.
STARFIELD.... Okay, I guess I was hoping to try this at some point (I own a PS5 and a S2). I am super psyched for Indy as I held off getting the PS5 edition. However, the game I really want is DOOM: THE DARK AGES. Come on Bethesda, I know ID and Panic Button can work their magic so I can have all three titles on my S2.
I remember renting this game when it came out. It blew my mind. It pushed the N64 so hard. I think it's a better game than both BANJO's. Second only to the little Itallian plumber himself.
I just rolled my saved game. I am currently in one of the airships. I have to say, the aliasing is cleaned up a bit as is the resolution. Frame rate is rock solid. The character models, especially Bruce, look sharper too.
I actually am waiting to pick up MINDSEYE on a sale. Played the demo/trial on PS5 and I threw on some Bond music and rolled. Had a lot of fun. The driving mechanics are solid.
At least they offset the sticks. I am happy with my Satisfye Zen Grip 2. However, some classic Nintendo colorways would tempt me. The only reason I didn't get the GCN one for the original Switch was Alex's review of the button placement.
Even though the original title is based off JAWS: THE REVENGE, I love this game so much. I mean, you get to play as MICHAEL CAINE in the bonus stages!!!! Will definitely be getting this!!!
@BaldB3lper78 I have deliberately held off on Indy and Doom: The Dark Ages in hopes of Switch 2 ports. Indy being confirmed was a highlight of the Summer. I hope Doom is announced at The Game Awards!
Have held off on this as Ghost of Yotei will be my PS5 Samurai game this year. However, I really want something like this on my S2. I will definitely be downloading this once it's on sale.
@ShonenJump121 Kingdom battle was one of the first games I tried when I got my S2 and it runs at a smooth 60fps now. Not an official update, just the S2 doing it's thing.
I have this on PS4/5 and love it so. If I do double-dip it will definitely be during a sale as is my feeling on all GKC/digital releases. Looks like it's time to get AT LEAST a 256 EX Micro SD.
I liked the test. However, it was the racing that I liked the best. City Trial was neat, but seeing all of those power-up icons just made me think how much I want them to remaster KID ICARUS: UPRISING. This should have been a $50.00-$60.00 USD game, max. If I do ever pick it up if would have to be on a deep sale or used. I can't see myself paying more than $40.00 USD for this. In fact, the racing made me throw in MKW again last weekend and roll some Knockout Tour.
TBH the leak of filming with Zelda and Impa is what gave me hope. Impa looks straight out of OoT. Looks like we're getting a mix of BoTW and OoT in terms of anesthetic. Can't fault that.
@Neonix I tried putting a pic of my cartridge, lol. That really sucks. I was so happy when they put out the physical. I sold my Xbox GOTY edition. I'm trying to get as many games physical, but I have a feeling the S2 is going to require such big installs for newer third-party titles that the majority will be download codes or Game Key-Cards. CD Projekt Red must have done some Nintendo-level compression to pack Cyberpunk 2077 onto that cart. Thing is, I rarely buy digital if it's not on sale. I have a feeling I will be waiting to get AC: SHADOWS for a bit because of this. I hope Indy is not a download, but I'm not holding my breath.... RDR2 will most definitely be download only, I fear.
@Neonix
Ummmm..... I own it. I have RDR physically for S1. On a cartridge. Don't know if it was only a NA release, but if it was you can definitely import it.
@abbyhitter
From what I understand no; or at least not yet. It sounds like the only physical version will be the vanilla S1 edition and then you can download the Switch 2 edition; like with NO MAN'S SKY. Conversely, you can just buy a digital version on S2. I have looked everywhere for any confirmation of a physical release and I can't find it.
I hope ARKHAM KNIGHT stops crashing. I was surprised to see DOOM 2016 on the progression issues list. I literally just completed a run on my S2 over Halloween season. No issues whatsoever.

I want a new set of courses to explore. Ones that are actually fun to play. Unlike 70% of the main campaign.
