I actually jumped back into RAVENSWATCH this weekend on my S2. A love the game, and docked looks great, but man is handheld rough. This game needs a S2 patch, stat!
I love jumping into a wall run. As such PoP: SoT and NINJA GAIDEN (XBOX) are essential. However, taking the red guidelines away and just going for it, leaping and grappling, and wall running in the original MIRROR'S EDGE is probably my favorite as the balet of movement WAS the game.
I was blown away by DOOM 2016 and DOOM: ETERNAL on S1, so my two biggest port hopes prior to the S2 launching were Indy and DOOM: THE DARK AGES. With Indy confirmed, all I really want to see is some Doom Slayer action confirmed. A teaser for a new 3D Mario would be a great way to close out the show with a Spring 2026 release date. Finally, bring on more GCN titles, new SEGA reveals, and the rumored 3D OoT remake!!!
@breach187
Agreed. This seems like the exact situation where Game-Key cards are needed. A game needs to be fully installed for performance needs, but the company still wants something physically on the shelves for consumers. And Star Wars is definitely a franchise that parents/family would grab for a kid for Christmas. However, for me, most of these situations will push me to wait for a sale and just pick it up digitally.
RAYMAN 2 is the fourth best 3D platformer on the N64, and one of the best looking titles at the time. Don't understand why they held back DK64. Now just give me DKR, CBFD, BODY HARVEST, and TETRISPHERE. WCW REVENGE or WWF NO MERCY would be awesome as well, but definitely not holding my breath.
I've played the demo probably 50+ times at this point. Feel like this is going to be a 9 or 10 for me. Lizardcube said they had a couple SEGA franchises in mind after SoR4, and they definitely did not disappoint. Will be getting this on physical (hopefully) soon.
This one was really hard. I love the EUR box art, but the logo feels like it's from a different game. Ultimately, I had to go with which one would make me pick up the box and flip it over. And that would be the NA cover.
Im thinking late September/Early October. PRIME came out in November, DREAD came out in September, and OTHER M came out in late-August, I believe. All the Metroid games seem to be late Summer / early Fall releases. So I am thinking date announced at the next Direct for a release in early October. I am saying the 12th, lol.
I really love the style of the game and it was great to see Kirby in a 3D adventure. However, being an early Switch 2 adopter and owning a copy of the game, $20 for an upgrade feels a little much. That being said, I expected Nintendo's DLC upgrades to be $20.00 USD. I just wish I could get the upgraded visuals patch for less and not be forced into the new content.
I understand the idea of B, Y, and X being Down, Forward, and Up; respectively. However, I immediately changed mine back to make the A button Dig. Did the same thing with BotW and TotK.
I had a feeling STARFIELD would come over. All that money spent on development. Need to get it to other platforms. Now, just give me DOOM: THE DARK AGES.
After only getting the teaser trailer in April, this was definitely needed. We've seen a fair bit of MP:4 and Hyrule Warriors. HW might slip to late December/Early January, but I am confident MP:4 will be an October release. That last bit of the Direct.... maybe a Story Mode with a new villian?? Oh, and where the heck is my UPRISING HD port!?!?!?!?!?
I loved the Direct, but I was really hoping this was going to be a $59.99 USD title. The writing was on the wall when PRINCESS PEACH: SHOWTIME was $60.00 USD....
So this was always meant to be their big Gamescom game. Awesome. With Gamescom now the new E3 in many respects, it's cool for the Big N to hold back a title for it. Bet it will be playable on the show floor. I'm looking at this as Nintendo's Gamescom presentation, lol. Have high hopes for this as Sakurai has been working on it for some time now.
I liked MANIA, but felt that SUPERSTARS captured the magic I was looking for in a new 2D Sonic outing. Here's to hoping we get another MANIA down the line, though.
@roy130390 I played it repeatedly all weekend. The combat and movement are so fluid. I am a fan of both series, but will wait for a S2 patch on this and roll SHINOBI in a few weeks.
I love VANQUISH. It blows my mind it did not come to Switch. The PS4 port would fit nicely on the S2, but I am not holding out hope. I really want Indy and DOOM:TDA on S2; so much so that I have held off purchasing them on PS5. I think we might see some Metaphor, Clair Obscur, RDR2, and maybe an extended look at Silksong. TBH, it all seems up in the air at this point. I really hope Microsoft goes full support on the S2, that's what I most want to see.
I just keep thinking a wide-box variation ofnthe Japanese cover (with some editing) would look really great. And Blastdozer is the better title. So, Japan FTW!
@Shiryu All GameKey Card and Digital Only games will be "on-sale" only for me. Last gen, 1,2, SWITCH, SPLATOON 3, and DOOM ETERNAL were the only games I bought full priced digitally.
I still roll the original on my phone and DS. I remember one year, our local video game store handed out download codes for PC/tablets for Halloween. My daughter was very happy, lol.
I opted for the GCN NSO controller instead at launch. I have the 8bitdo Pro Controller and updated it to work with the S2. Will maybe get a Pro Controller down the line.
Due to Nintendo and Microsoft's relationship as of late, I held off getting Indy and DOOM: TDA on PS5 in hopes they would be announced for Switch 2. Gimme those, Rogue PoP, and NINJA GAIDEN 4 and I'm a happy camper!
The man saw the big picture for Nintendo's path forward. After the struggles of the GCN it was decided that graphics were going to produce diminishing returns and that a focus on inclusivity and gameplay were the way forward. Thus the Blue Ocean strategy was born with the DS and later expanded by the Revolution (later named Wii), these were ways to bring lapsed players back into the fold, interest new players, and widen the idea of what gaming could offer. After the iPhone and subsequent smart devices began stealing pieces of the handheld market, the decision was made to mix the two and expand what could be offered. 3D gaming and console-quality experiences enjoyed on the TV or the couch (the WiiU is the most underrated system of all time next to the Dreamcast). The final push was for the NX, something that would cater to all living situations and fully consolidate Nintendo's development teams together to develop for one system. Looking at the jump from PS4 to PS5, it is clear now that Iwata was right in regards to the graphics race ultimately subsiding. The Switch's success shows that people want flexibility in their gaming. XBOX's "Every screen is an XBOX" initiative and the Playstation Portal show these giants are still trying to playn catch-up with the philosophies that guided the Switch and WiiU. I have wondered quite a bit lately what Iwata would think of the Switch 2's pricing structure. Still, my Switch was named Iwata and my Switch 2 has followed suit (Iwata 2), in honor of the man who saw what the future held and who was brave enough to light the way. You will forever be missed.
I don't really think FFIX needs a remake. It's a great game, but V or VI deserve one more. If we are looking at a full on 'fantasy' story, give me V. It's wonderful and would benefit a lot from a modern retelling.
The launch hype was definitely affected for me when Nintendo did not announce the price during the Direct. It felt like they were trying to hide it. Same thing with the game prices. That put a huge damper on the day. Also, the Game Key-Card messaging should have been better. FInally, not having WELCOME TOUR packed in was the cheapest thing I've ever seen them do; and that's saying something. Additionally, while I respect the mass-market appeal of MKW and their desire to launch the system with a game that fully supports the advantages of GameChat, DKB should have been there day-one as well. As it stands, I have been having fun with MKW, but not having a big single-player adventure was a fail.
I am assuming I've done around 28 hours. Free Roam and Knockout the most. It's a solid 8.5 for me, so I bumped it up to a 9. It's a different beast from 8 DLX, but I hope expansions and time will solidify it's solid place in the series hierarchy.
I love it when developers due this. Putting the Stars Arcade games in ROGUE SQUADRON 3, NES titles in ANIMAL CROSSING, and arcade games in SHENMUE was awesome back in the day! Can't wait to get YAKUZA 0 on sale and play those classic SEGA arcade titles on the Switch 2!!!
My favorite PS5 title from last year. Spent a lot of time on both the TV and my Portal playing with my PC sporting mates. I would love a release that runs natively on the Switch 2! DEMOCRACY!!!!
@OrtadragoonX I don't think Nintendo can wait that long to release a new Mario. I feel like Monolith Soft is probably helping with the open world while the Mario Team is handling mission structure and mechanics. Fingers crossed it's not 4 .ore years!
I was hoping a different team was on this, but launching a Mario-universe platformer with the S2 is still great. Here's hoping to the open-world Mario game BOWSER'S FURY hinted at coming in the next year.

Hey, if Konami can make a deal with Nickelodeon to release the Cowabunga Collection, anything is possible.
