@BigRadical I think the Lords of Shadow series has it's own continuity separate from the rest of the Castlevania games. Anyway, I always loved the twist at the end of the first game with Gabriel Belmont eventually succumbing to his own darkness and becoming Dracula. Reminds me of the opening scene of my fav Dracula movie, the Coppola version from 1992.

Very curious where they'll take the series next. It's had quite the evolution over the years. Anything's better than a pachinko machine honestly.

Lords of Shadow 2 was incredibly disappointing, but I absolutely loved the first one. Not gonna lie, it's probably one of my fav Castlevanias.

Jeez, about time. It's been like 6 years since the remaster of the first game.

Anyway this is a fun hack and slash with rpg elements and lovely pre-rendered backgrounds. It has a weird system that's not present in any of the other games involving giving gifts to your party members. I just remember giving Ekei a lot of food and booze and he was my bro for life, haha.

Big fan of the books and films, but I don't think I've played any of these, besides the Two Towers game, but that was the ps2 version. It was okay. Besides that, I've played Shadow of Mordor, which I just couldn't get into. I like the concept of an open world game in Mordor, but that nemesis system just didn't jive with me. I did enjoy War in the North on ps3. That was more of a strait up hacky slashy type affair.

Yep I remember picking this up at launch at this awesome little game shop in a mini mall, that is sadly now long gone. Still a masterpiece to this day, one of those rare games that I immediately started replaying after beating it the first time.

I do remember though while most people loved the game, there was a small but vocal minority of hardcore RE fans online, who took it upon themselves to constantly deride the game and claim it wasn't 'real RE' because it lacked item boxes, fixed camera angles, etc. While I do still love the older games, that's not to say a series can't change and evolve with the times. And the old formula was becoming a bit stale at the time, RE4 was the shakeup the series needed I think.

That being said, I am glad there's a bunch of indie developers still making games inspired by the old RE style.

I still play Ninja Gaiden Black and Ninja Gaiden 2 on my xbox360 from time to time. Still some of the best action games around.

Would love a collection of the nes trilogy on the Switch. It would be extra sweet if they included the og versions, as well as remasters with pixel art done by the folks working on Ragebound. But this admittedly seems doubtful.

@Mach_Rider While I wouldn't say Yaiba was a great game, I do recall having some fun with it. The combat is fast and frantic, and it has some fun platforming sections. It also looks great, love the colourful cell shaded style. But yeah, it's definitely not up to the standard of the previous games, and the effort to be overly edgy can be a bit grating.
