In regards to Alien Romulus, I just have no interest in seeing it for some reason, and I love the first two, (and 4 is a lot of dumb fun). I think I'm just tired of them dredging up these old franchises over and over again, they're almost always mediocre at best.
@LikelySatan I like the cathedral background, or 'nude place' as it's called, and the forest stage is nice too. But yeah, overall the backgrounds aren't anything to write home about.
looks like something I might eventually pick up at a discount. Kinda wish they had aped Hades visual style as well. That wonderful inky, cell shaded look would be a nice nod to the Turtle's comic book origins. But I suppose they can't borrow everything from Hades, haha.
@Lizuka Really? I've lost count of the amount of times I've replayed Fusion, but Nightmare gives me trouble every time. I can't seem to beat it without sustaining a ton of damage. Yakuza is no joke either though, I just feel like I have a better grasp of its attack patterns.
Intriguing. Might be a nice companion for my Star Trek cookbook. So far I've made Captain Sisko's jambalaya, and Captain Janeway's Welsh Rarebit, both of which were delicious.
Recently played Rastan 3, it's pretty great. I really just can't get over how small these collections are compared to a few console generations ago. Taito Legends 1 and 2 had more than 3 times as many games each.
I haven't had cereal for breakfast since I was a kid, more of a black coffee and bacon and eggs man these days. A gamecube shaped coffee mug might be neat though, just rotate the handle 90 degrees.
RE7 was my fav RE since the original RE4. It highlighted the things I really love about the series, those being exploring beautifully decrepit locations, a haunting atmosphere, and sense of isolation. Looking forward to seeing what this director comes up with next.
Why would you want to play RE7 on a phone of all things? Ideally you wanna play at home on a big screen, late at night with all the lights turned out. Not on a tiny screen while you're riding a crowded subway to work or whatever.
@AJWolfTill I'm trying to think of some modern games that sort of follow a Zelda dungeon formula and a couple come to mind. There's the two recent God of War games that have unique locked off regions with puzzle solving, and usually some kind of boss fight at the end.
And actually now that I think about it, Resident Evil Village felt very much like Zelda in structure. You have the main village hub area, (hyrule field), and the four surrounding boss areas (dungeons), where you find the four macguffins to open the path to the final battle. I'm almost positive the developers took a cue from Zelda when designing that game.
Japan's is more traditional with the hero posing, and the cast of villains arranged behind her, whereas the NA cover is more evocative of the 'corruption' theme of the game with Samus standing with her back to her dark reflection. I don't mind either, but I think both would be better if they were hand drawn illustrations as opposed to using the game models.
@dreadkong I remember renting that one back in the day and really enjoying it. Didn't get very far though, I didn't have a memory pak and therefore couldn't save the game.
Looks great and all, but one of my main beefs with the Metroid Prime series is you never get to see Samus in her badass armour outside of cutscenes. I suppose that's an issue I have with FPS in general. I think a Metroid game with an over the shoulder RE4 style camera could be really cool.
Well don't think I'm ever getting back my wii copy I lent my cousin years ago, so I might grab this. I also assume it does away with some of the annoying 'waggle' controls that were present in the wii version, which is a plus for me.

Re: Critically-Panned 'Borderlands' Movie Flops At The Box Office
The curse of the video game movie strikes again.

Re: Shadow Of The Ninja - Reborn Is Getting A Demo On Switch
Yeah this looks amazing. Ninja action platformers, one of my favourite sub-genres.
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Mega Man Zero 3
It's a cool illustration of Zero on the NA one, but I don't like how it's cropped.
EU looks like another artist traced the JP one. He's got weird googly eyes.
JP is definitely the strongest here.
Re: Review: SNK Vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos (Switch) - A Great-Looking But Painfully Average Fighter
@LikelySatan I like the cathedral background, or 'nude place' as it's called, and the forest stage is nice too. But yeah, overall the backgrounds aren't anything to write home about.
Re: Review: SNK Vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos (Switch) - A Great-Looking But Painfully Average Fighter
@Vyacheslav333 Ah, thank you for the correction.
Re: Review: SNK Vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos (Switch) - A Great-Looking But Painfully Average Fighter
While I don't think it's quite as good as the previous two Capcom Vs Snk games, I've still been having a lot of fun with it.
There is one character that is absolutely cheap and that's Goenitz.
"KOKO DESU KA? KOKO DESU KA?"
Holy crap I can't stand that guy. It is satisfying when you actually do beat him tho.
Re: Poll: Which Is Your Favourite Nintendo Game Cartridge Design?
@WaveBoy Completely agree. 80s/90s was the golden age of amazing hand painted box/cartridge art.
Re: Poll: Which Is Your Favourite Nintendo Game Cartridge Design?
I like the sleekness of the N64 carts, but I gotta go with the Snes.
Re: Acclaimed 8-Bit Horror 'Faith: The Unholy Trinity' Lands On Switch In October
I really like the look of this. Just in time for spooky season.
Re: Metal Slug Meets Symphony Of The Night In 'Guns Of Fury', Launching 2024
Hey now there's a mash up I never considered before. Looks excellent.
Re: Feature: The Famicom Failure That Almost Bankrupted HAL, But Shaped Nintendo's Future
@CazSonOfCaz Neither did I! I always assumed it was a reference to HAL 9000 the ai from 2001: A Space Odyssey.
Re: Soapbox: 20 Years After His Last Mainline Appearance, Tingle Deserves A Comeback
It's time to give Tingle a jingle.
Re: Random: We'd Kill A Bokoblin To Get This Zelda: BOTW Switch Cartridge Case
I'd keep my dried herbs in there. Uh you know, oregano, thyme, etc.
Re: Reminder: SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos Is Now Available For Switch
Yeah I grabbed it. I've literally wanted to own this game for decades, haha.
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Duel - Gargoyle's Quest II: The Demon Darkness
They both have a lot of 90s charm, but I think I prefer the saturday morning cartoon vibes from the JP version.
this game is great btw, I'm surprised it's not on the NSO yet.
Re: SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos Announced For Nintendo Switch
Nice! But what about the first two games? This game is good fun, but I do kinda prefer its predecessors.
Re: Talking Point: Could Ganondorf Ever Be The Star Of A Zelda Game?
I just can't see Nintendo doing something as edgy as making a game starring the main antagonist of one of their most beloved series.
Honestly Hyrule Warriors already gave me all I'd want from a Ganondorf game, which is just running around kicking all kinds of ass.
Re: Review: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate (Switch) - Hades In A Half-Shell
looks like something I might eventually pick up at a discount. Kinda wish they had aped Hades visual style as well. That wonderful inky, cell shaded look would be a nice nod to the Turtle's comic book origins. But I suppose they can't borrow everything from Hades, haha.
Re: Soapbox: Metroid’s Mother Brain And The Rewind Dilemma
@Lizuka Really? I've lost count of the amount of times I've replayed Fusion, but Nightmare gives me trouble every time. I can't seem to beat it without sustaining a ton of damage. Yakuza is no joke either though, I just feel like I have a better grasp of its attack patterns.
Re: Soapbox: Metroid’s Mother Brain And The Rewind Dilemma
I found the Nightmare boss battle from Metroid Fusion way more difficult than Mother Brain.
Re: Random: Nintendo's Mature Horror 'Emio' Is Already Getting Lots Of Fan Art
How many Emio's are going to be showing up at Halloween parties this October I wonder. Good last minute costume methinks. Sharpie + paper bag = Emio!
Re: Random: When They're Not Terrorising Hyrule, Zelda: TOTK's Moblins Are Certified Ballers
That's some incredible ingenuity/creativity right there.
Re: The Second Unofficial Zelda Cookbook Has Already Smashed Its Kickstarter Goal
Intriguing. Might be a nice companion for my Star Trek cookbook. So far I've made Captain Sisko's jambalaya, and Captain Janeway's Welsh Rarebit, both of which were delicious.
Re: Taito Milestones 3 For Switch Locks In Japanese Release, Here Are The 10 Games Included
Recently played Rastan 3, it's pretty great. I really just can't get over how small these collections are compared to a few console generations ago. Taito Legends 1 and 2 had more than 3 times as many games each.
Re: Soapbox: How Does Your Personality Affect Your Gaming?
All I know is, when I play fighting games I tend to crush my enemies, see them driven before me, and hear the lamentation of the women.
Re: Random: Finished With Your Old GameCube? Why Not Turn It Into A Cereal Bowl?
I haven't had cereal for breakfast since I was a kid, more of a black coffee and bacon and eggs man these days. A gamecube shaped coffee mug might be neat though, just rotate the handle 90 degrees.
Re: Random: Zelda Fan Jailed For Carrying Small Master Sword Replica
To be fair, he was wandering around the Ganon's Castle neighbourhood in Nuneaton, the local population of bokoblins did feel a bit threatened.
Re: Capcom Confirms The Next Resident Evil Game Is Now In Development
RE7 was my fav RE since the original RE4. It highlighted the things I really love about the series, those being exploring beautifully decrepit locations, a haunting atmosphere, and sense of isolation. Looking forward to seeing what this director comes up with next.

Re: Capcom Announces Summer Showcase 2024, Airing Next Week
@DogDetective Yeah, it's honestly weird to me they only ported the first one to Switch.

Man, I just want a switch port of Eternal Darkness.

Re: Gallery: Check Out The Stunning High-Def Character Art For Marvel Vs. Capcom Collection
I'm so stoked for this collection. Feels like it's 2001 again when I was impatiently waiting for Capcom Vs Snk 2 to come out on the gamecube.
Re: Feature: 9 'Mature' Games We'd Love To See On Nintendo Switch Online's New N64 App
@dreadkong I remember renting that one back in the day and really enjoying it. Didn't get very far though, I didn't have a memory pak and therefore couldn't save the game.
Re: Feature: 9 'Mature' Games We'd Love To See On Nintendo Switch Online's New N64 App
Resident Evil 2 would be very cool, I've never played the N64 version.
However I would prefer if Capcom would just release a collection of the original 3 RE games.

Re: Soapbox: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Won't Be The Franchise's 'BOTW Moment', And That's Okay
As long as it's better than Star Trek: Beyond
Actually, I lie. I kinda like that movie.
Re: Gallery: The Legend Of Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom Is A Glorious Mix Of Old And New
The new echo mechanic is intriguing. The level of freedom allowed seems to be taking a cue from TotK.
Re: Gallery: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Is Looking Absolutely Stunning On Switch

Re: 'Metal Slug Attack Reloaded' Mixes Action Shooting And Tower Defence On Switch Today
Love Metal Slug, but not really a fan of tower defence, so I think this is a pass for me.
Re: Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics Will Get Super On Switch This Year
All these games, AND the Punisher beat 'em up? Amazing to say the least. Maybe now I can finally retire my ancient dreamcast copy of MvC2.
Re: New 2D Adventure 'The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom' Announced For This September
Zelda's cool and all, but I'd rather play as Sheik;)
Re: Nintendo Switch Online Gets Four New Additions Today, Including Zelda, Metroid, And Perfect Dark
This is probably the best lineup they've released in a long while.
Re: Donkey Kong Country Returns HD Swings Onto Switch Next Year

Re: Random: 350 Switch Carts Smuggled In Passenger's Bra Seized By Chinese Customs
350 carts in one bra....was it Lady Dimitrescu?
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Turok 2: Seeds Of Evil
That's Turok, killing violence since 1998.
Re: The House Of The Dead 2: Remake Has Been Rated For Switch
I picked up the first one on Switch, and the controls were barely functional. Very disappointing.
I'll just stick with my wii copy of House of the Dead 2&3. Overkill is a lot of fun too.
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Mega Man: Dr. Wily's Revenge (Game Boy)
Megaman's weird face on the NA cover reminds me of a garbage pail kid or something, haha.
I like those funky speed lines on the Europe cover so I went with that.
