I'm so stoked for this collection. Feels like it's 2001 again when I was impatiently waiting for Capcom Vs Snk 2 to come out on the gamecube.

@dreadkong I remember renting that one back in the day and really enjoying it. Didn't get very far though, I didn't have a memory pak and therefore couldn't save the game.

Resident Evil 2 would be very cool, I've never played the N64 version.

However I would prefer if Capcom would just release a collection of the original 3 RE games.

Actually, I lie. I kinda like that movie.

The new echo mechanic is intriguing. The level of freedom allowed seems to be taking a cue from TotK.

Looks great and all, but one of my main beefs with the Metroid Prime series is you never get to see Samus in her badass armour outside of cutscenes. I suppose that's an issue I have with FPS in general. I think a Metroid game with an over the shoulder RE4 style camera could be really cool.

Love Metal Slug, but not really a fan of tower defence, so I think this is a pass for me.

All these games, AND the Punisher beat 'em up? Amazing to say the least. Maybe now I can finally retire my ancient dreamcast copy of MvC2.

Zelda's cool and all, but I'd rather play as Sheik;)

This is probably the best lineup they've released in a long while.

Well don't think I'm ever getting back my wii copy I lent my cousin years ago, so I might grab this. I also assume it does away with some of the annoying 'waggle' controls that were present in the wii version, which is a plus for me.

I picked up the first one on Switch, and the controls were barely functional. Very disappointing.

I'll just stick with my wii copy of House of the Dead 2&3. Overkill is a lot of fun too.

Megaman's weird face on the NA cover reminds me of a garbage pail kid or something, haha.

I like those funky speed lines on the Europe cover so I went with that.

I have the first one on wiiu. I recall the difficulty being rage inducing, to put it mildly, haha.

Interesting, The Thing is one of my favourite movies, but I never actually played this.

I might eventually grab this, but what would've really sweetened the deal is if they bundled it with an HD version of the first Luigi's Mansion as well. Might as well have all three on the switch right?

Ah, I had completely forgotten about this! Looking forward to it.

I actually kinda like the NA one in its own way, but the JP one is just better, beyond being drawn by Toriyama. I really like that landscape banner at the bottom, it evokes a sense of adventure and discovery, which is what a good fantasy rpg cover should do.

I consider games like marbles and kick the can to be truly retro. You know, the kind of stuff that was around back when I was in my early 30s.

Probably not for me, but I love that style of illustration.

For a real challenge try it with no food, and no bathroom breaks;)

Would've preferred Hyrule castle or the forest temple, something more architecturally based, as opposed to a tree. Then again, Castle lego was always my favourite as a lad.

The fish creature in the bottom left screenshot looks like it's strait out of Darius.

I like the first half of Leon's campaign, and there are some good moments throughout the other campaigns, but I think this is my least favourite mainline RE game. The horror elements are mostly gone, it plays out more like an overstuffed Micheal Bay action film. I think the level of over the top campiness in RE5 was perfect, but they kinda pushed it a little too far in this game. The main villain is basically a Transformer, which is silly even for this series. That being said, the kaiju sized BOW from the end of Chris' campaign was kinda cool.

Couple other things I did like,
I love that you can dodge roll in this game. Seems a logical thing to do when surrounded by hordes of zombies.
Roundhouse kicking a zombie in the head as Leon will never not be satisfying.

Bottom line, give me slower paced atmospheric horror, over big, bombastic action set pieces any day.

Mario Land is incredibly nostalgic for me. Reminds me of the early 90s back when I only had two gameboy games, Mario and Tetris. Simpler times to be sure.

I beat him twice. Definitely one of the best final boss battles in Zelda games.

Oh damn, I've never seen the JP cover before, I think metal af is an appropriate descriptor.

Also this game rocks. Capcom needs to revive the series.

@Sigarrsen Yeah, The RE3 remake was incredibly disappointing. It had some good moments, but it's kind of unforgivable just how much they cut out of the original.

I consider the RE1 remake the pinnacle of the series. It improves on the og version in pretty much every way, but it is still fun to revisit the PS RE1.

I really like the spooky, crt tv aesthetic.

I remember wondering before the game came out, when they revealed the ultra hand mechanic, if link could build a tank.

Seems the answer is a resounding yes.

Huh, in my time playing I haven't experienced any major frame rate issues, I'm only on stage 3-2 though. I do agree the jumping is pretty clunky, there's a couple platforming sections that felt poorly thought out.

My other gripe is the difficulty. I'm no stranger to action games such as this, but this game is really tough, and the checkpoints are rather spaced out, meaning you'll have to fight through large sections again if you die. Maybe they're going for an old school design mentality, but some kind of easy mode would've been appreciated so I can better come to grips with the combat system. Even Strider 2 which this game draws a lot of inspiration from allows you to adjust the difficulty.

Anyway, still enjoying the game for the most part so far.

I didn't play the switch version mind you, but Mr.X from Resident Evil 2 remake actually gave me nightmares, which is something no other game has done.

I guess I just won't cowabother then.

I played a round of Mario Party with my sis over the Christmas holidays, wow it was a bloody battle. Some things really haven't changed since we were kids, haha. It was by the skin of my teeth, but I was ultimately victorious. Always gotta go for that minigame star, baby.

@-wc- I love UN Squadron! Fun fact, the music that plays over the character/mission select screens is almost identical to that "chocolate rain" song from years ago, I'm not even kidding.

Haha, okay having access to the spreadshot from Contra has reignited my interest in this game.

Muramasa and Dragon's Crown Pro are defo my fav Vanillaware games. To have both on Switch or its successor would be stellar.
