Not sure when I'll get the chance to play this, but it's nice to see Capcom still putting out original IP like this. Reminds me of the good old days of the Gamecube/PS2 era.
@OrtadragoonX completely agree, the re2 remake is a much better adaptation of the original than the remake of 3. I was a bit disappointed however they didn't recreate the opening areas in 2, such as that basketball court with the "this too shall pass" hastily spray painted on the wall, the restaurant with the dead patrons, and going through the bus. Still, a mostly excellent remake overall.
I've got a lot of nostalgia associated with the NA cover, still have my original GC copy. I've never actually seen the EU/JP cover before, but I think I actually like it more. Certainly leaves more of a visual impact.
@Summer235 yeah the remake of 3 is still fun, but they cut out a ton of stuff from the original. I think must've had a rushed development cycle or something.
I never actually owned a Playstation when these games were new, so my first experience with them was watching my buddy play them on his. I was absolutely enthralled by the gritty realistic graphics and the machinations of the sinister Umbrella Corp. I remember watching him just blaze through the entirety of RE2 with the infinite rocket launcher haha.
Even though I already own all these games in various forms, I would be all over a collection on Switch. Do it Capcom!
It probably would've been better left a surprise for audiences yeah. However, myself being an old timey nintendo fan certainly have more interest in the movie now than I otherwise would have.
@flighty interesting you say this game has a depressing ending. I would not have guessed that looking at it at face value, it looks to be very irreverent and goofy. Although I suppose many 80s-90s anime didn't exactly have what you'd call happy endings haha. I remember being depressed for a week after watching Berserk for the first time.
You know I think I've only ever played Virtua Fighter a couple times, it was the original in the arcades back in the day. Always been more of a Street Fighter guy. I have dabbled in Tekken and Soul Caliber, so I might like this too.
RE1 remake is probably the best place to start if you're interested in survival horror. Otherwise, if you're more into action you can't go wrong with RE4. Both the original and the remake are great.
So many great villains in this series, but I really can’t see Mr. Albert “complete global saturation” Wesker not taking this, he’s just so iconic at this point.
Here are a few of my runner ups in no particular order ,
Alfred Ashford - I tend to like my RE villains a bit goofy and over the top, and Alfred is the gold standard.
Salazar: I love the og Salazar, he’s just so quotable. "Where's the satisfying sound of one's impalement?". I’m not a fan of how they handled him the remake, he’s more soft spoken and serious.
Irving: He’s kind of the Salazar of RE5. I like his voice acting and character animations, reminds me of Steve Buscemi. “I just had an EXTREME MAKEOVER!!!”
Jack Baker: The whole Baker family is great, but Jack’s my fav. He’s incredibly intimidating, that section when you have to sneak around and hide from him is terrifying. Also I really like the moment towards the end when the ‘real’ Jack talks to Ethan in a vision, adds some pathos to the character.
Nemesis: Much like Wesker another RE icon. Not that he has much of a personality besides wanting you dead.
Lady Dimitrescu: She’s pretty cool, but definitely kinda wasted in RE8.
Heisenberg: Intelligent and flamboyant, definitely my kinda villain. His factory stage in RE8 is awesome.
Also, doesn't seem you're including spin off games, but Alex Wesker from Revelations 2 is a great antagonist.
Man, I really don't like any of them. In a series known for all kinds of crazy monsters, and haunting locations, they decide to showcase a bunch of big heads..
Phenomenal game. It was really the shot in the arm the series needed at the time. Much like RE1 remake I like replaying this game just to wander around the beautiful decay of the Baker Estate.
I think I prefer RE7 overall, but Village is also a really solid entry. I like how the RE series has sort of branched out from zombies into other genres of horror as it's continued on. RE7 felt inspired by 70s/80s horror like Texas Chainsaw and Evil Dead, whereas Village feels like a tribute to classic Universal horror. You've got werewolves, vampires and Frankenstein's monsters of a sort.
I'm older than the original nes Legend of Zelda, but I didn't get around to actually playing it until it was on the WiiU. And yes, I'm not ashamed to admit that I used a guide.
It does sound interesting. I'm not the biggest fan of this style of platformer, but might be something I check out around halloween times for those spooky vibes.
@Tempestryke I don't remember a river, but it's been a while. I recall getting through one of those Doom style fps sections and then getting back outdoors, at which point the t-rex comes running in off screen and easily killed me every time.
I didn't grab this collection. I still have bad memories of renting the Snes Jurassic park game from blockbuster and repeatedly getting the game over screen when the t-rex shows up.
@OpheliaDynamight haha, I'm essentially the opposite, I was raised on star trek. I do need to get around to watching Babylon 5. In any case, enjoy tng. Season 1 is a bit rough, but it gets way better from there.
Well I'll definitely be getting this with the inclusion of the two additional games. Be nice if they also added the Magical Quest games, I have many a fond memory of renting those from Blockbuster back in the day. Capcom was at the top of their game in the 90s.
I like the story in CV but it's definitely my least favourite of the classic style REs from a gameplay perspective. Anyway, hope they keep Alfred as goofy and over top as he is in the original.
The concept of zombies retaining memories of their past lives is pretty cool, and reminds me of the Romero Living Dead movies, particularly Day of the Dead(1985).
Nice! I have this on xbox one, but seeing as it currently resides in a box in my closet, I might just get the switch version. Playing Rescue Rangers is probably one of my earliest gaming memories.
I have Witcher 3 on PS4 and I just couldn't get into it. All these large unwieldy menus, and I was just wandering around picking up a bunch of random herbs and such I had no idea what I was supposed to with. I will give it another chance though, might just not have been in the right frame of mind.

Haha. I do recall seeing that snes cover as a kid and thinking, does Fox have robot legs...?

Re: Limited Run Games Is Bringing NES 'Jaws' To Switch Later This Week

A Tremors Nes/Snes style game, now that would be interesting.
