It's cool to see how all three artist's interpreted the character differently. NA's definitely the most 80s with that outfit they gave him haha. I think JP is my personal fav though, and not just because it made the bold choice to include infamous historical villain with distinctive mustache looming in the sky.
Being an Alien fan I eagerly picked this up back in the day, but ultimately remember being disappointed by it. I'd give it another go, but I no longer have my copy.
Nice, was wondering when they were going to add the other Ninja Gaidens, now we just need three. looking forward to playing 2 and horribly abusing the rewind feature.
Started watching the trailer, but then stopped myself. This is one of those games I'm fairly certain I'm gonna get at launch, so I kinda wanna go in blind.
I remember seeing Akira for the first time back in high school and just being blown away by it. For art class we were each assigned a classroom door to paint, I of course did an image of Kaneda on his bike riding through streets of Neo Tokyo. Last I heard my door hasn't been painted over yet all these years later.
NA is the clear winner here. Masterfully illustrated by a far superior artist to whatever nobody scribbled the JP cover. Probably just faded away into obscurity.
Still have my original copy . I (regrettably), sold off a bunch of my GC games, but held on to this one. I enjoyed the sequels, but this remains my fav in the series. It just has a certain atmosphere the others haven't been able to recapture.
Playing the PS4 remake of Medievil, perfect game for spooky season. They really did a phenomenal job of retaining the spirit of the original while updating it for modern consoles. The visuals are spectacular.
Voted for Japan, I just prefer that style of illustration. I see what they were going for with the NA one but, Geese's head, (I assume that's supposed to be Geese), is just way too tiny and it's throwing off the entire illustration.
@anoyonmus I can't remember where I read that, so it could've been bogus info. Still, I wouldn't rule out there being some kind of connection. They establish in RE Village that Ozwell Spencer the founder of Umbrella actually met mother Miranda, (the main antagonist of that game), and the Umbrella logo was even inspired by the mysterious symbols on the ruins around the village. Seemed like they were setting something up with that. But I guess we'll just have to wait and see!
@anoyonmus From what I've read, Requiem's story does tie into the previous two games. It's the third in a trilogy wrapping up the story of the megamycete, the weird fungus that created the monsters in 7 and 8.
Being an old school RE fan, definitely 3rd person. That being said, I though the first person view worked well in RE7, it really helped heighten the tension of the very claustrophobic environments in that game.
@Truegamer79 I think they're both great entries in their respective series, but I give a slight edge to Ragebound. The camera just felt too zoomed out most of the time in Shinobi, and some of the bosses were a bit underwhelming, but these are really minor gripes.
You know, I feel like playing this in handheld mode would detract from the spooky factor. Seems like the kinda game that's best played on a big tv late at night with all the lights out.
I enjoyed Resurrection back when it released, I oughta revisit it, now that spooky season is nigh. Now I'm just waiting for Capcom to resurrect Demon's Crest, which I think I might actually like even more than Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts.
@Coffee-Waffle Definitely not just you. I enjoy the Prime games, but 2d metroid is where it's at. Super Metroid is still peak, ( in my humble opinion).
I'll have to reserve judgement until I play obviously, but my initial reactions to the bike gameplay were very positive. I mean, we've already had 3 Metroid Prime games, all with very similar gameplay, I'm fine with them shaking up the formula a bit and trying something new. As long as it feels cohesive to overall experience, and not shoehorned in like the arwing missions in Starfox Adventures for instance. That being said, if it was revealed that we finally got to pilot Samus's gunship I'd probably be even more excited haha.
It's pretty cool that the vast majority of Capcom's 80s-90s arcade repertoire is avaible on switch. I really just want the AvP and Cadillacs and Dinosaurs beat em ups at this point, but I know the licenses make that unlikely.
Seriously? You can't just play the games on your tv with a controller? That's actually ridiculous and limits the number of people who will bother to play these games.
@Truegamer79 yeah, it is an odd choice. They kinda did the same thing with the Devil May Cry series. Dante is still playable, but he takes a back seat to Nero in DMC 4 and 5. I liked the new characters in ragebound, it'd just be nice if the og protagonist were there too.
I can't speak to Silksong, but I played through Hollow Knight, and found it tough but fair. When I messed up,it was clear where I went wrong, usually just a matter of perceiving a given boss's patterns. I always did a little better the next attempt, and that's the kind of difficulty I enjoy.
Whereas certain other games, for instance I'm trying to play Nioh again right now, the difficultly feels like slamming repeatedly into a brick wall with no real progression between attempts. It's more about level grinding, than having a better understanding of a bosses patterns.
Also, I fully admit I might just suck at Nioh, and have more of a grasp of Hollow Knight's gameplay, haha.
Anyway, I understand finding satisfaction through adversity, but in the end games are meant to be entertainment. I'm all for modern games having variable difficulty to suit the players skill level.

Re: Review: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition (Switch 2) - Samus Returns In Prime Form
Glad it worked out after all that time in development. presently replaying Metroid Prime 3, then I plan to dive into this!

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - SNES Classic Mini Console
NA, for purely nostalgia based reasons.
Re: Mini Review: Forestrike (Switch) - A Roguelite Kung-Fu Fighter That Lets You Plan The Perfect Takedown
This looks reminiscent of Shogun Showdown, which I have sunk many hours into, so I may check it out eventually.
Re: 50 Best Super Nintendo (SNES) Games Of All Time
I feel a couple of those Street Fighter 2 ports could be removed to make room for different games. All you really need is SF2:Turbo.
Re: Official Zelda Movie Photos Give Us Our Best Look Yet At Link And Zelda
I can easily picture this version of Link uttering his classic phrase, "Well Excuuuuuse me princess!!"
Re: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Finally Gets The Trailer We've Been Waiting For
Started watching the trailer, but then stopped myself. This is one of those games I'm fairly certain I'm gonna get at launch, so I kinda wanna go in blind.
Re: Random: Steam's Brand New Game Console Sure Looks Awfully Familiar
I must say, I do like the version with the wood panelling. We haven't had that aesthetic on a console since the Atari 2600 I would guess.

I've only been posting here for about 5 years, but I dig this place, it's pretty chill here. Cheers
Re: Terminator 2D: No Fate Has Been Delayed Again On Switch
I need your clothes, your boots, and your motorcycle.
Gonna get cold before the game comes out.
Re: Marvel Cosmic Invasion Devs Showcase Every Fighter In The Upcoming Beat 'Em Up
Very much looking forward to this one, looks like a love letter to Marvel Vs Capcom.
Will definitely mostly be using my beer drinking Canadian brother Wolverine.
Re: Talking Point: What's The Best Firework Sequence In A Video Game?
The fireworks in the bg of the Rickety Race level from DKC2
The fireworks at the end of the magic carpet ride level in the snes Aladdin game.
And the fireworks in Termina at the end of the third day in Majora's Mask.
Not super iconic or anything, but for whatever reason they stick out in my mind.
Re: Review: Double Dragon Revive (Switch) - Nice Ideas, Uneven Execution
I'm pretty much a beat 'em up junky, but I saw the visuals of this one, then I saw the price and decided I'd pass, at least until a deep sale.
I did enjoy Double Dragon Gaiden tho, the gameplay is quite fun.
Re: Review: Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Imprisonment (Switch 2) - A Stunning Slice Of Musou, Worthy Of The Zelda Canon
What's the enemy variety like? Are there unique opponents, or do they just reuse the baddies from TotK?
Also more importantly, is Ganondorf playable? That was honestly my favourite aspect of the original Hyrule Warriors.
Re: Resident Evil Pro Controller Is Available To Pre-Order, But Its Price Is Terrifying
Ain't no RE4 chainsaw controller that's for sure.
Re: "Jill / Chris Would Be More Befitting" - Resident Evil's Obsession With Lady D. Is Getting Fans Riled Up
Just glad my fav series is still going strong all these years later.
But you know, it'd be nice if we got the og trilogy on Switch to celebrate the 30th...just a suggestion Capcom..

Re: Survival Horror 'The Florist' Looks Like Classic Resident Evil In All The Right Ways
Probably the most colourful survival horror I've seen. Most games in the genre tend to be shades of dreary brown and grey.
Re: Street Fighter 6 McDonald's EX Colours Now Available, Here's Every Free Code
Ken being a corporate shill makes perfect sense, but Ryu? Disappointing. But I suppose he's essentially a hobo, probably needed the cash.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (25th October)
Playing the PS4 remake of Medievil, perfect game for spooky season. They really did a phenomenal job of retaining the spirit of the original while updating it for modern consoles. The visuals are spectacular.
Re: Nintendo Expands Switch 2's GameCube Library Next Week With A Spooky Classic
I'll always love this game. Along with smash bros melee and rogue leader it was among the first gc games I played.
I'm curious how the visuals will hold up in HD. It was designed to be played in standard def and actually still looks amazing on my old crt TV.

Re: Best Nintendo Switch Horror Games
I think Faith: The Unholy Trinity deserves to be here. It's about as lo fi as you can get, but it managed to creep me out when I played last year.
Re: Talking Point: Can Metroid Prime 4's Title Screen Go As Hard As The Others?
"The last Metroid is in captivity. The galaxy is at peace."
I remember it being kinda mind blowing hearing actual spoken dialogue coming from my snes back in the day.
But yeah, Super Metroid by a country mile, it's just so freakin iconic.

Re: Daft Punk Is Bringing The Digital Love To Fortnite Later This Week
I was lucky enough to see them live back in 2007. They were perched atop their pyramid on stage, it was epic.
Re: Opinion: Resident Evil Requiem Represents A Turning Point For Switch 2
Still holding out hope it's coming to PS4 as well as that's presently my only way to play it.
Re: Feature: Ghosts 'n Goblins Hit Arcades 40 Years Ago, And Its Recent Resurrection Is The Perfect Way To Celebrate
I enjoyed Resurrection back when it released, I oughta revisit it, now that spooky season is nigh. Now I'm just waiting for Capcom to resurrect Demon's Crest, which I think I might actually like even more than Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts.
Re: Little Nightmares III 'Necropolis Demo' Now Available On Switch And Switch 2
Really enjoyed the first two, so I'll defo check this out.

@Lord It is on a cartridge tho! Came with a sweet little comic book too.
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Operation C / Probotector (Game Boy)
Gotta go with NA, that's just badass. The JP one while well rendered, looks like a framed family photo you'd see sitting on someone's dresser haha.
Re: ICYMI: If You Want To Play Virtual Boy Classics, You'll Need To Buy One Of Nintendo's Accessories

Re: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Finally Gets A Release Date, Open World Confirmed
Damn, they found a way to make Samus even more of a badass haha. looks cool as hell.

Re: Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound Patch Adds 60fps Mode, But There's A Catch
Thought this game was great, but it'd be nice if they added a mode where you can play as Ryu. I mean his sprite is already in the game, so why not?

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Forsaken (N64)
They're both, really, really bad.
Also looks like Kate Winslet in Titanic with a bad facial tattoo.
