I’m not sure why I never got the original way back when, but I got a 30% off deal for this new one when I preordered it back in October so I’m anxious to get it. I enjoyed the DS and 3ds games in this “series” too. Side note… since they are still bringing back a steady stream of oldies, why can’t we get some kind of Dr. Mario remake on the switch, and better yet, bundle it with a remake of Tetris Attack. I played that game like crazy in the 90s!
It would be cool, but most importantly just emphasizing on physical games being the rule, instead of digital. If this encourages physical game purchases, that would be a huge benefit. Plus they would look cute in a multi-game case. Not that there is much plastic to see on switch games, assuming they’d be about the same size on the new system.
I’m not reading all 127 comments before saying this but I don’t recall Pokémon ever complaining about Digimon, and that series, at least what I played of it, is as Pokémon-like as it gets 🤨 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J2lkz6oS7w4
It’s been 40 years since the last game crash. I’m tired of the few people who weren’t around to experience it then that will fight with me on this, but the crash is coming again because 1. Digital gaming is crushing the industry hard, and 2. A lot of people are too cheap to fully support game developers by purchasing physical video games and not pirating games. Which circles back to the digital games causing the crash. This industry does need a full reset, back to the glory days of the 90s where games were sold complete (not needing dozens of updates and patches), and we could walk into a store and look at games and purchase them, and come home with the excitement of unwrapping them and playing them for the first time, or a hundred times after that. Those games I bought in the 90s (and even the 80s!) I still enjoy playing now. Some of them are more than 45 years old. Those digital games people play now will likely not even make it into the next decade. Thus, we have nothing. Digital gaming is a vapor. Here today and gone tomorrow, and the entire industry is tanking with it.
Ubisoft needs to be comfortable with going out of business. I’m not participating in the game industry anymore if it’s all digital. No one will ever change my mind on that.
GameStop wouldn’t be trying so hard to survive in this modern gaming climate if everyone hadn’t pushed so hard for digital games. A tangible store can’t be profitable in an intangible business. It’s finally starting to be realized, however, that many gamers are being left in the cold as they find out they never actually bought their digital games and instead bought a ticket to play them temporarily (aka rental). Gamers, please purchase physical games, let’s help the industry survive all around, including our game stores!
Switch Off
Light Switch
1-2 Switch The System
Dual Switch (2 screens? One could only hope!)
Switch Itch
Yep ridiculous names… but then so is Wii, and Wii U which sounds like the noise you make when you smell something bad! 🫢
Wouldn’t it be great if we all just said no to digital and they HAD to make physical copies in order to sell their games? Why does anyone really waste money on these digital rentals anyway? And the argument that they are better for bug fixes, etc is ridiculous… that’s just giving a pass for the lazy game developers that don’t put out finished/polished games like they used to.
I wish activision would take a look at the success Atari is having with not only bringing back these classics but also making them new. There’s so many classic activision games that we’ve never seen on switch. And the same can be said of Intellivision games too! Sorely missed!
I love this game, I have it on a cartridge. But I hate rentals, subscription services, pay to play, digital downloads, etc. If it’s not mine forever, I’m not interested in it. 🤷🏻♀️
It’s a good thing I bought a ton of physical games in November and December. Not only because I’m 100% done with ever buying download (aka rental) games on switch, but it gives me plenty to do until my next game purchase which will be the Mario game in February. This list above is awful. At least to me. None of those are games I would play. 🤷🏻♀️
Best gaming moments, hours, days, weeks, and months for me in 2023 was Pretty Princess Magical Garden Island. No one here even knows it exists and yet it’s such a beautiful, addictive, well polished, cute and fun game…. and I also greatly enjoyed Barbie Dreamhouse Adventures this fall. While that’s not as deep, it’s still so fun and cute! Why doesn’t anyone running this site like girly games? 🤨
@Not_Soos you are an amazing uncle. Don’t let these toxic fools ever even come close to making you believe anything less. Your nephew is blessed to have you in his life. If the people giving you trouble on here had even half a brain they would see that you’re the kind of person this world desperately needs more of. You keep on being that little boy’s much needed light. I think what you’re doing is awesome! ❤️
And one day the same will be true of switch games, but even worse, if you play switch games on anything other than your primary system, you will be locked out of doing that too. Buy physical games! This digital stuff is a gaming dictatorship. It’s better to retain our gaming freedom and play our own physical games with no restrictions. Maybe they won’t play with friends online someday but at least we can still play the games alone or with friends locally!
I have this game on my actual n64, and it’s awful. I hate the isometric view, bad graphics, bad gameplay, etc. Even decades ago I was thoroughly unimpressed with it. And what is it with the n64 games on switch looking so horrible? My n64 connected to the tv has never looked even close to that awful. I cancelled my plus membership, I couldn’t deal with those games looking so bad.
All Switch games released in 2023 are eligible and available to rate via our database. We've simply limited the ones shown below to avoid endless pages of shovelware from appearing — and there's been a lot of that, too. If there's something we didn't review (or just didn't enjoy as much as you did), you can find it by heading to the search bar at the very top of the page and going directly to that game's page. …
So you omitted Pretty Princess Magical Garden Island and Barbie Dreamhouse Adventures because you think it’s “shovelware”? Actually I’m starting to think this website is shovelware. 🤔
They could have saved themselves a lot of embarrassment by just releasing a proper finished game from the beginning. We would have been happier waiting for that then getting this jumbled mess with all of its half baked updates.
Nobody Mario’s like Martinet! That being said, another iconic voice (at least to me) is Cooking Mama! What ever happened to her? “Don’t worry, mama will help you!”, and then the girl who does the Kirby voice too… she gets too little recognition… and Kirby deserves more voice work in the games, or even a movie! (Don’t say a Kirby movie would suck) 😂
I’m honestly baffled by all the love for thousand year door. Has time made people forget all the flaws and difficulties that game had? Or have most people not played it all the way through? 🤔
Nearing 4 years on animal crossing being out, and this game, while awesome, still lacks so much that was in new leaf… perhaps it’s time for a sequel, or a re-release of new leaf, on switch 🤔
Odd they would do that, but I have both this game and the newer one so it’s not a big deal. I love these, they are so fun! It’s pretty dumb that a lot of the content that’s on the first game is behind a paywall on the second game. Maybe that’s why they are removing the first one. 🤔
Many of those tracks in the list are needed, but I would have also liked to see modernized versions of some old and new ones for instance a new animal crossing track with scenes from New Horizons, and a Mario track with scenes from Wonder, and maybe even some crazy tracks based on Wario stuff.
@Divide_and_Wander I’m an oldie like you and love the classic “bite size games” of that era. The Atari 50 collection is nice but I personally enjoyed the previous Atari collection on Switch more than this 50 set. I also wish they’d bring an Activision Classics out for Switch. The last one published on a Nintendo system, if I recall correctly, was on the GameBoy Advance, so that’s about 20 years old now!
Well that’s because Disney makes many bad business decisions that crushed them financially so they can’t afford to make this free now. I would have only played it if it’s free, and since it won’t be, I will never get it. And I’m so okay with that. There’s a vast pool of much, much better games than this on the switch.
@Jhena thank you, that’s good to know. I actually get kind of frustrated with platform games now that I’m older so I was looking for an easy, pleasant game, and it’s sounding like wonder is the right one for me!
But how does it compare to the new Sonic game? It seems to have fallen under the radar now. I have yet to buy either of these but if I do, I’m pretty sure I’d start with SMB Wonder. Has anyone played both? I know they are quite different as it was 30+ years ago but still… which of these new ones is more fun?
So Nintendo releases some GameCube games (Pikmin, Paper Mario TTYD, etc) with little to no graphical improvements and everyone is cheering and celebrating, and then they bring out a well polished game created for 3ds that sat on a shelf due to bad timing, that they ended up porting to switch instead and everyone complains about “bad graphics”. What?! 🤨
@samuelvictor I am SO glad you saved the Galaxy! 😀 actually I am not familiar with much of the Star Wars stuff despite my husband being a huge fan of all of that! I did enjoy watching the mandalorian with him though. And the Princess Leia show they had on Disney recently. It’s so awesome you’re working on meaningful projects to help encourage others. I love that! I truly admire you and all you stand for!
@samuelvictor so very well said! Yes! I agree with all of that! And it took me until I was well into my 40s to feel that way myself, of course as a woman, defying what society finds as acceptable for conduct or interests for someone my age or gender. I feel very much at peace, finally, just being who I am, and not feeling like I have to hide what I love most. Oh how I wish we’d found this wisdom decades ago! 😀
And in a few years we will see the same story about the switch. Anything digital or online is temporary. I’m more than half a century old and still enjoy playing physical games I’ve owned since the 70s, 80s, 90s, and beyond. They don’t need an internet connection to play, or to validate my identity (I’m looking at you DRM), and still work fine to enjoy anytime, anywhere, on any compatible system.

@LimitedTime me too. I’ve been playing animal crossing 20 years now and still love it, on all systems! (GameCube, ds, wii, 3ds, and switch!) 😀
Re: Pokémon Scarlet And Violet Version 3.0.1 Update To Be Distributed This Week
Is this an indication of how long it would have taken the game to release if they’d finished it first? 🤔
Re: Random: Sorry, The Sims 4 Isn't Actually Coming To Switch
Oop! At least we have animal crossing on the switch, the sims can’t compete with that! lol 😆
