Translation: the end of Nintendo console gaming is at hand. Literally. They better turn around and come to their senses or it will be 1983 all over again.
How about a Nomad reboot. Mine has that ancient washed out screen, and it would be so nice to have all these games on a dedicated handheld again. Although it would be hard to top the Sega Classics compilation cartridge I have on switch 🤔
Maybe try instead for a handheld Sega Master System, or maybe put all those games on a switch compilation. In fact, do that with Sega CD and Dreamcast too! It’s much easier to just give them to us on switch, and it gives us the TV/handheld option automatically.
That video gave me SO many “New Pokémon Snap” feels. I’m all for pretty visuals and awe inspiring exploring but the heart of Pokémon is the battling, right? Seems like they want that to be secondary in this game. 🤔 Maybe all they are really focused on promoting is how lovely it looks. But it concerns me about the long term playability and fun factor of the game. Looking forward to seeing some reviews.
Every time I see an article like this, it makes me think of how in 5 years they will strip away, one by one, all the online features of the switch. And how will anyone play their digital games and DLC (that they paid so much for) on their secondary systems when Nintendo discontinues online features for the switch? 🫤
I wish someone at Nintendo would read this article and especially the comments. But Nintendo no longer cares about what gamers actually want. They just care about finding “clever” and easy ways to milk gamers out of their money. This expansion pack offers so very little for the price, but yet people subscribe anyway, and because the sales are robust enough, Nintendo does not care to make it more inviting with the things most people want, such as GameBoy/Color/Advance games. Sigh.
Island Tour (3ds) has always been my favorite, and it gets the least love from everyone! I think it’s a lot more fun than any of the old or new versions! The boards are great and so are the mini games!
5pm in animal crossing new horizons, and the theme/opening song on style savvy styling Star on 3ds. They are much better than anything in this list! Check those songs out!
This might be a good time to review the new Taiko No Tatsujin Rhythm Festival game. It’s LOADED with licensed music and is a blast to play. It’s different enough from Drum & Fun to stand on its own as a fantastic game, but still retains the core elements that made the predecessor so awesome. Seriously, I would give this game a 9 out of 10 (only downsides are lack of extra characters like Kirby, and some songs are insanely difficult). A fun perk is it includes the theme song to Super Mario Bros, and the overworld music for The Legend Of Zelda! But if anyone loves music, this is the game for you! It has a wide variety of genres to please all tastes!
@johnvboy based on your numerous comments in this thread, I can ascertain that you have a very personal attachment to this movie and while I respect that, I also stand firm in my disdain for who voices it because that - his voice - is the core of the Mario we know, and it has been replaced, and with a voice that doesn’t even come close. This just ruins it for me much like the replaced voices in modern Peanuts movies, and how they did this with Flintstones, Scooby Doo, and many others. I am not only old school, but old myself, and some things should remain as they were or they will no longer have their classic charm. I understand that people may die or otherwise be unable to fulfill these voice roles but I do think at the very least they should at least try to replicate the originals.
Taiko No Tatsujin Drum & Fun, Disney Magical World 2 Enchanted Edition, and Animal Crossing New Horizons. These are to tide me over until Tuesday when Hokko Life comes out! 😁
I never got this on switch, and seeing the comments about it being slow and clunky have me concerned. I have it on 3ds, does anyone know how it compares to that version? Better? Worse?
I was extremely disappointed with the direct. The only thing I liked (and was very excited about) was the Harvest Moon Wonderful Life reveal but then I felt let down that I have to wait about a year till it releases. It’s nice they want to release more n64 games, but how about adding GameBoy games? Nintendo always wants to give gamers what Nintendo wants us to play, not what gamers want to play. It is so disappointing.
@Caryslan I agree with you 100% on everything you said! We need the GameBoy games (why did they choose Genesis instead?!), and the n64 games just look so bad to me on the switch!
Disney Magical World 2, Enchanted Edition. Just started a new game again after playing thru last winter. This game is so much better than the new Disney Dreamlight Valley. Much more visually appealing and genuinely fun, and of course very cute and very Disney.
I’ve been waiting over half a decade for a new style savvy game too. In fact, I’ve waited more than 11 years for a new Nintendogs game, and 8 years for a new Tomodachi Life game. 🤔
Miitopia because I wish Tomodachi Life would come out on switch, and this is a distant cousin. And Kirby’s Dream Buffet because that’s the cutest game ever 💕
6 years from now, Nintendo will be like, here’s all the stuff from Animal Crossing New Leaf that you wanted but we left out of New Horizons. Here, it can be yours for only $34.99! (Adjusted for inflation).
I’ve been saying this for years and everyone just complained at me and harassed me for it. But I’ve been part of this game business for 45 years. What they do now is indeed laziness and nothing more, when they make these incomplete games and worse - charge full price for them!
They really need to release more games. Good, widely appealing first party titles. Here are a few suggestions: Style Savvy Nintendogs Tomodachi Life Super Mario Classics: the first 3-4 Super Mario games with a fresh coat of paint and new features, like the way Sonic games have been done.
I’ll be playing several games including Ridge Racer on 3ds, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on switch, Pac-Man Museum… and speaking of which I’m also finishing up a needlepoint I created of an entire Pac-Man maze with Pinky, Inky, and Blinky, plus Pac-Man, and the cherries. All inspired by the classic arcade version of Pac-Man 😁
Nintendo is NOT open to making new titles and remakes because there are two games that were incredibly popular on 3ds that are very much wanted on switch, that they still have not made. Style Savvy, and Tomodachi Life, both of which have change . org petitions, the latter of which has amassed more than 16,300 signatures! So what does that tell you about Nintendo being open to remakes?! Still nothing being done. 🤷🏻♀️
This speaks volumes about their poor quality in recent years, doesn’t it? They are actually conceding that they can’t make anything of good quality AND they are trying to make customers pay for that mistake. Unbelievable.
Vast set of games here, although my favorite is the puzzle one, and I wouldn’t mind having it as a physical copy (despite also having it on GBA and PS1), but thankfully they are releasing the digital version of Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo on July 21, for $3.99 USD, and it’s already in my wish list on the eShop. All but one of the fighting games don’t interest me. 🤷🏻♀️ And that one will be available also for $3.99. I love that they are releasing all these separately so we can pick and choose the ones we want!
@TryToBeHopeful that’s actually completely untrue. Because that same reasoning would mean everyone in the world can use all my downloaded content I have across all my iPads, my purchased iTunes music, my cell phones, smart televisions, 3ds digital games, PlayStation digital games, Xbox digital games, etc. Which they cannot. It’s just Nintendo which has this ludicrous policy of checking your credentials every single time you play a digital game. Maybe they are not technologically advanced enough to figure out how to get that “one and done” signature.
If we PAY for a game, and we PAY for a system, or even five systems, then why do we have to get online to validate our PAID game every time we play it from a system we PAID for? Nintendo is greedy and controlling, that’s why. When they wouldn’t let me play MY game last night on MY system, I played 3ds instead, and I enjoyed that very much. Games that do NOT require being online or submitting to their control. I miss when Nintendo was a customer centric company. Sigh.
None of those games interest me in the least, not even the wacky viva piñata which I have on ds. I’d rather see them release Tomodachi Life for switch, and of course Style Savvy. These are games that are not only a lot of fun, but appeal to a wide range of gamers plus they sold like crazy on the 3ds.
I had a blast playing this over the weekend. I bought it for Pac-Attack, which was a favorite of mine in the 90s, and while I still have it available to play on two other handheld Nintendo systems, it was also nice to play it on my OLED. The other games are great too but I honestly found Pac-Land to be surprisingly frustrating and not fun.
Also, I had no glitches or frame rate issues or problems with any games I played.
Overall it’s a wonderful compilation with a huge variety of games!
