Re: Nintendo Music Updated With Animal Crossing's 3DS Soundtrack

Kiyata

My tired eyes almost read this as something related to New Leaf coming to switch. Once I started breathing again I realized it was the music app. That’s really nice, because I do love the music from this game. But oh how desperately I wish they’d release this game on Switch. All by itself on a cartridge with switch controls. I don’t even care if they keep the graphics the same. It’s just such a wonderful, cozy, cute game with so much more stuff in it than New Horizons!

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Animal Crossing: Wild World

I love this game. I played it all summer. Then abruptly stopped when I realized I couldn’t do any more Nook store upgrades until I connected with a friend’s town. No one else plays this anymore! Love so much about the game, but that’s a dumb hindrance to advancing in it. I definitely like the cover art for the North American version much more too but it’s kind of weird too how it emphasizes that when you play, the landscape constantly rolls like you’re on a terrestrial ball. I know they did that in the game due to graphical limitations and it does work, but it’s weird.

Re: Talking Point: When Did 'Good Enough' Become Good Enough For Pokémon?

Kiyata

Here’s the thing… Pokémon means Pocket Monster. They made a big deal about that with the pocket size GameBoy, GBA, DS, 3DS, etc, how you can game on the go, and so it was a perfect pair. You have these pocket monsters to fight, anywhere, anytime, enjoying a full RPG that fits in your pocket. This could never be as treasured on a giant console/TV with all this fancy stuff added to fluff up the game as it was in the simple olden days of whipping out your pocket system and playing Pokémon. So yes, now it’s partly nostalgia that is behind the love for the older games, but also when you look at what they really are, they just have so much strategy as well as imagination which is kind of lost now. I don’t mind the graphical updates, it’s actually kind of cool. But I like the original game format to remain. Give me a HeartGold/SoulSilver with updated graphics and the same exact gameplay as the DS one and I’ll be delighted. But it MUST come with a PokeWalker too, like the original. An actual device not some dumb smartphone app.

Re: Best Pokémon Games Of All Time

Kiyata

Someone needs to send this list to GameFreak. Their newest games almost always end up being the least liked. But HeartGold/SoulSilver remain the most loved… and they won’t bring those back! They need to be brought to Switch 2 with upgraded graphics and a device like the PokeWalker that can connect via Bluetooth or the usb port or something. Make that PokeWalker more interactive like the very popular Tamagotchis. This would be the best selling bundle they’ve ever released.

Re: Feature: Who Is Devon Pritchard? - Meet The Next NOA President Stepping Into Bowser's Boots

It’s natural to be skeptical of new leadership but I hope she turns out to be just what Nintendo needs. I don’t like the direction Nintendo has gone in recent years, completely ignoring the girl gamer market. Maybe she will light a fire under Nintendo’s rear and get them to start releasing games that women like such as a new animal crossing game! I’m tired of all these violent and demonic games that seem to dominate anymore. And then we have so much Mario kart shoved down our throats I can’t take it anymore. Please Devon bring back the good stuff that made Nintendo such a treasured brand!

Re: Poll: Three Months In, How Would You Rate Switch 2's Library So Far?

Kiyata

I like the size of the screen on switch 2, and that it’s LCD not that sickening cheap OLED they used on the other. That’s actually all I like about the system. The games they offer for just switch 2 are embarrassingly horrible. Mario Kart World is the only one I like, and I don’t LOVE it. I’ve been a dedicated Nintendo fangirl for 40 years and this is the biggest letdown ever by Nintendo. They must be embarrassed by it too because not only are they not releasing any good games, they won’t even do any directs for it. I’d be in hiding too if I was Nintendo.

Re: Stardew Valley Creator Announces Version 1.7 Update

This game is cool, and I know a lot of people sink hundreds of hours into it, but my farm addiction game is Farm Together. That is SO good, and so underrated. I’ve put hundreds of hours into that one and still can’t put it down! Farm Together 2 is also fantastic!

Re: Feature: 32 Games We're Dying To See On Switch 2

Kiyata

What has happened to humanity that this is the only kind of games people are interested in now? Or is it just NintendoLife? The ones that make bestseller lists for actual sales are vastly different than these games, so something here doesn’t add up.

Re: PSA: Pokémon YouTube Channel Uploads 'Pokémon The Movie 2000'

Kiyata

Once upon a time, long, long ago, Nintendo released a series of Pokémon cartoons including the iconic I Choose You, on GameBoy Advance cartridges. You could watch them anytime, anywhere, with zero advertisements or wireless connection. Sure the visual quality was not great since it was 20 years ago on a low power/resolution system, but that was back in the days when entertainment actually was a priority over profit. Good times! Other companies released cartoons on GBA too, such as Disney, Strawberry Shortcake, and more.

Re: Feature: Nintendo Partner Direct Predictions - What Do You Expect To See?

Kiyata

None of the games in that list interest me. I’d rather see games like Animal Crossing (yes I know that’s first party), and Style Savvy (an all new one or a 3DS one ported to switch 1 or 2), a PopCap games collection with Bejeweled, Bookworm, Peggle, and more. I’d also like to see a new Clubhouse Games (yes, again, I know, first party game). But I’m sure the only game they will mention that interests me is another look at Story of Seasons Grand Bazaar.

Re: Random: We're Big Fans Of This Switch 2 Summer Gaming Solution

Kiyata

Cute but there’s actually portable fans these days that have rechargeable power banks in them at stores like Five Below if you live in the USA, but I’m sure other stores have similar items. There’s also headband style neck fans, water misting fans, and other useful ways of staying cool that simply take batteries (or charge in some instances). They would be far more practical than ruining a $500 console. As a bonus, if you have a regular fan (any size) pointed at you AND your system while you play (in handheld mode), it will actually keep your system cooler without needing to run its own internal fan, and preserve your battery life a bit during that play session. I do this all the time, and have for many years!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (12th July)

Kiyata

I have this lovely new switch 2 system and only one new game for it (Mario Kart World), and I just can’t play that more than a half hour at a time, so I decided to go back a couple generations and whip out the trusty 3DS and start a whole new game of Animal Crossing New Leaf, which has been absolutely delightful to play. It reminds me of all the giant omissions in New Horizons and how this New Leaf game IMO is vastly better in nearly every way. Also been playing a bit of Pokémon Rumble World on the side because that’s installed on the 3DS I’m playing ACNL on. I always loved that Pokémon game too. So, while I wait for new casual/cozy games to arrive on switch 2 I’m actually quite content now with my oldies.
