I don't want to be grumpy old man, though I do love being grumpy old man, but in a franchise where some of the characters are near-identical but for their colour scheme, I find it somewhat unnerving that a majority of the actual ingame footage had "fancy" lighting that made the characters colours mostly muted and indistinguishable. ... /grumpy old man.
I reckon they should release Bingo Party on its own, and then compare sales Vs this disappointing pile of mush. I bet a "Nintendo Bingo" would go down great as its own thing.
All they really need to do is a nice new handheld console with a slot for Switch games. And a slot for DS/3DS games. And a slot for Gameboy/GBA games. And NES games. And SNES games. Shove all that into a little handheld, and we'll be sorted. Oh yeah, and a combo drive for the Wii/U/Cube games. It's easy, really! Get on it, Ninty!!
Gosh, that'll be fun to watch. Just like old times. Sonic vs Mario in shop stores, battling for marketplace supremacy... But which is better!?! Only one way to find out! FIGHT!!!
@Sisilly_G In the UK we were taught never to add that extra S on the end. I guess that's a cultural thing. I wonder if the localisation will take that into account?!!
I'm a HUGE WarioWare fan, and have owned everything bar the unreleased-over-here Twisted.. But going back to play Smooth Moves after my brain-surgery left me dizzy, unbalanced and I could barely play for more than 5 minutes without getting nauseous. I hate to even consider this, but.. .. I might not buy this one!! And that makes me so very very sad.
@Sisilly_G Oooh, a new WarioWare DIY would be amazing, but I get the feeling this is probably the direction they're going instead. Which is a shame. I thought the tutorial for WWDIY was really well made.
Such amazing content. Bravo to all. I really really struggled to get into the methodology of this thing. Growing up in the 80s with Basic, through Amos and Blitz, and lately SmileBASIC... I'm a "typing" coder, and the "drag/connect" stuff didn't work for me, but.. Daaang, that's some some great examples of the power that can be accomplished if you know what on Earth you're doing with the tech!
@BlueBCA Aye, but it's that "it only got worse as more and more of the game was shown off" bit that worries me. That seems to be the recurring theme with Sonic Team since.. .. Well, it's been a while!!
Excellent job, Valve. Emulation, cool as it is, is a hot button topic. Of COURSE there are all the "for" arguments. Preservation, legal backups, etc, but 95% of emulation use is NOT that. And if you're about to at-me and argue the opposite, then you must have the absolute perfect set of friends and family that have never once, ever, asked you "as their friendly computer geek" to download an album/movie for them.
Started with 1-2-Switch and Zelda. Ended with Zelda and 1-2-Switch Such was the legacy of the Switch. A glorious bookend. Now give us the next console.
Gosh, all the towers, all the shrines, all the underworld light pillar thingies, and all the koroks, in under an hour? That's some amazing skills. Bravo to such an impressive player.
@Chaotic_Neutral It'd be nice if you could level up. I think that's what's missing from battles. Otherwise, yeah, "oh goodie, another Opal" gets really old, really fast.
I attempted one of the main "dungeon" things the other day. The end-boss is a dragon like creature that swoops and swirls all around you, and you have to shoot at its hit-points as it swoops up and around and over and under, and you're jumping up and down and flying and shooting arrows and up and down and back and forth and round and round and....
Needless to say, my own personal motion sickness kicked in WAY before I'd managed to get the enemy's health meter down to 50%.
I had to teleport-escape out of there. It wasn't good for me.
And that was only one of the bosses.
I expect I might not ever "finish" this game, like I never "finished" BOTW.
That didn't stop me enjoying (very much enjoying!) over 400 hours of BOTW, but it is somewhat disheartening that I'll never see the ending of either game.
This is exactly what I expected from this device. Essentially a RemotePlay Controller. What I'm really really hoping for, though, is some sort of cheap bundle. No way is it ever going to be as low as the WiiU was, but if you can get a cheap'ish pack with the PS5 and this, I'm.. moderately tempted. But then, I also don't currently own a PS5. I think, if you already do own a PS5, then just having the normal gamepad and a levitated iPad resting on your knees is more than enough!
(Thoughts of someone who, due to bizarre motion sickness issues, can't play games on a big TV anymore, and has to play either handheld, or on a tablet sized screen.)
One of the NPC's told me I shouldn't "wander aimlessly"..
.. That is EXACTLY the phrase I've used, repeatedly, when talking about BOTW. .. Are they watching me aimlessly wander!?! https://twitter.com/Jayenkai/status/1661383075379527682
@HammerGalladeBro With the demo being Online, it crams all the demo users into a manageable timeframe, and means that, for the most part, there's likely going to be other online players to play against.
If it weren't a limited time, you might have a completely void of no players to play against, then a sudden influx around the holiday period when people have the free time to try it out. By forcing everyone to play within a limited timeframe, it makes it a better experience. .. In theory, assuming the server can handle it
Every disability is different, and as a result there should be TONS of options to cater for that, so that the player can decide on what control scheme works best for them. But trying to second guess those disabilities, and trying to presume say that a limited movement means "the player couldn't ever do X/Y/Z", means you aren't really thinking in the mindset of someone who's had to already do that for the past couple of decades, and already knows a way around it. It's a really tough mindset to get into. I think more options should be given, and maybe in the future of A.I. and such, We'll be in a position that gamedevs CAN allow some sort of automation for certain things. It's a shame we're not quite there yet.
I make a lot of games that require direction and A or B, often simultaneously, and even I occasionally get myself stuck in the mindset of "What if you can't..?" It's really tricky to think about, and I think perhaps only something that having a disabled person on the team might help to resolve. .. But then, you're only catering for their particular issues, and solutions.
That GamesRadar quote, though.. Eeek... "whether you're looking for a gift for a child" .. Yeah, just hand the kid a giant microtransaction infested toy and see how long your wallet lasts.
I used to love Sega. I really did. Post Dreamcast, though, the hits petered out, and right now I honestly can't think of a single AAA title of theirs that I'd happily pay that much for.
Bring back the deluge of Dreamcast era games, and I'll dive right in, but modern Sega...?
I don't mind paying for things, but I'm not about to spend what will likely be full price to only ever watch it once. No thanks. Even if I inevitably stream a digital version, I'd much rather have it on an account as a paid for product that I keep until the merchant inevitably dies, than only ever get to watch it once.
I still haven't actually beaten the main game yet. My motion sickness kicks in every time I have a circular battle, and I really can't force myself to do the big finale, after having struggled so much with it in the other lesser battles. That hasn't stopped me enjoying the aimless wandering though. Oh, goodness, so much wandering. over 400 hours of exploring. I really do hope the sequel is worth the cost of entry for me.
"No, it's funny, right, cos he keeps singing peaches peaches, and that is what makes it funny cos that's just peaches and it is funny cos it is bowser wot sings and he dun't normly singing and hapy and peach hahaha lol"
I don't think I'm the target audience for this movie.
Digital for me, not just because I think it'll be garbage, but also because I'm disabled and pretty much mostly housebound, so don't really have a say in the matter.
