Re: Nintendo On Why The Mario Kart World Album Isn't Available For Nintendo Music

Jayenkai

Spurred on by this app's "Loop" capabilities, I thought to myself "Hey, maybe I should add that to my own music creations!"
I started adding loop-points to tracks. It's about 2 months later and I've done about 3 albums out of 50-odd..
.. So that's going well.

Yeah, it takes time to do this stuff, and ensure it sounds right. Having said that, they should already HAVE the loop point data.

Re: Nintendo Updates Its Music App With Another DS Soundtrack

Jayenkai

The more Mario games the better, IMHO. But that "Bah-bah" sound? Really? Am I the only one who thought that was a really obnoxious, incredibly repetitive sample?
It's like if a normal jump sound went "Boing!!!" all the time. There's a reason that standard jump sounds became more of a "floooff" than a boing.

Re: Donkey Kong Bananza Has Been Updated To Version 2.0.2, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

Jayenkai

My only complaint with this game was the "It's the same in Mario Odyssey, Zelda BOTW and TOTK" issue of .. Circular Boss Fights.
Why must Nintendo insist on Boss Fights being in circular arenas, with the camera constantly swirling around and around and around. My goodness, the nausea that that creates.

All four of those games, I haven't gotten much further than about the 3rd or 4th boss fight because I simply can't stomach it.
BOTW is my most played Switch game with hundreds of hours of game time, but I ain't going anywhere near that castle, because I am NOT in the mood for a vomit-o-matic..

Re: Review: Star Trek: Resurgence (Switch) - '90s Trek Fan? This'll Transport You

Jayenkai

QTEs are ok .. when you're expecting them and are ready.
They become frustrating when they randomly spring out at you, and you have ZERO time to rapidly read what's onscreen, never mind fumble with the controls.
It's like seeing a QR code on a TV advert. Sure, makes perfect sense to the creator, but I am NOT ready with my phone, nor will I have it switched on and camera ready before your advert's over.

Warn us this is coming up, we'll be ready, we'll enjoy it more.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (23rd August)

Jayenkai

My new framework for SmileBASIC seems to be coming along well enough, without breaking, so far! I'm hopeful that I can make use of it to write a myriad of Typically AGameAWeek games within a single download, instead of ending up with 150+ games that all end up having their own download code. .. That's a bit of a trek to expect people to trawl through!!
The first game will just be a standard Snake clone, but that's only because I'm having to build the framework at the same time, and realising just how much more stuff I need to add to the framework before it's ready to go live.

P.S. This is what I'm "Playing" ... I already got bored with MKWorld, and Bananza ended up having too many "spin spin spin spin spin" boss battles that it made me nauseous.

Re: Opinion: Can We Stop Comparing Donkey Kong Bananza's Tactile Thrills To Odyssey Now?

Jayenkai

It is very much the Mario Galaxy 2 of Odyssey, though, isn't it?
There's so many "it's the same" instances that I've noticed while playing it, many more than I expected.
And when you see that "goomba test" thing they showed off, it makes it all the more apparently that this probably WAS going to be Odyssey 2.
It really does make you wonder how ready "Switch Pro" actually was, back in 2020.

Re: Doronko Wanko Trots Onto Switch Today

Jayenkai

Aww, how cute. What a cute little game. That squirty mud is getting everywhere. Awww, cute..
Perhaps there'll be a sequel where you play as the house owner, and have to clean up all the wanko's silly squirty mud with some kleenex.

Re: Nintendo's Official Camera "Attach Rate" With Switch 2 Revealed For US

Jayenkai

Wii Sensor Bar v2 with a camera+mic on it, with the option to stick it to the top of your telly, or alternatively, clip it to the dock if the dock's facing you.

And keep the sensor in the bottom of the right joycon so it can work with the Sensor Bar.

We get the camera, but also get the mouse precision without the awkwardness of holding a joycon at a weird angle.

Honestly, it's almost like Nintendo didn't have 5 years since their delayed 2020 SwitchPro to think about this stuff.

Also, if the GameShare's using WiiU's streaming tech (which it seems to be doing) .. Why the heck isn't the Switch streaming to the dock!?

Re: Nintendo's LEGO Game Boy Officially Revealed, Releasing October 2025

Jayenkai

Wow, it's static and useless. Awesome.

Option 1 - That little screen and tech they have in the Mario.
Option 2 - make it big enough to fit around a Switch, with the buttons pushing contact-pads down onto the screen.
Option 3 - Same as, but for phones.
Option 4 - Even a little RPi Zero would've done the job.

Really quite disappointed, here.

Re: Poll: Has Donkey Kong Bananza Made You Feel Ill?

Jayenkai

I suffer badly from physical motion sickness (brain surgery, goop in my head, waves, etc) and a lot of things trigger it off.
Mario Kart World, for example, I can play happily on 50cc, but bump me up to 100cc, and nausea-rama!

For the majority of this game, I've surprisingly been ok, but yesterday I had a couple of boss battles which seemed to start spinning the camera around and around in ways that the earlier ones hadn't. Those had to be dealt with a good hour's rest in-between them!!
Incidentally, I still haven't 100%'d Mario Odyssey, for the same reason. Towards the end, the boss battles got more and more spinny.

Re: Danger Mouse Is Back With A New Game Tie-In For The Switch

Jayenkai

@MyMemory The concept of "We can't make one game to fit all three movies, so let's make three different games" is kinda the solution that I think would work better for Who. Lots of differently styled games, one for each Doctor (or .. ..There are a lot, maybe 2 Doctors per game style) but their storylines would all come together to create a larger narrative.

Re: Danger Mouse Is Back With A New Game Tie-In For The Switch

Jayenkai

@MyMemory I haven't yet found a Who game that does the show justice. There's so much variation in the show, over the decades, you'd think they could've found something that could encompass everything in a nice way. Like, each Doctor has a different gameplay mechanic, and you have a ton of variation as you play through each doctor's adventures.
... Or would that be too much!?
Probably.

Re: Danger Mouse Is Back With A New Game Tie-In For The Switch

Jayenkai

I have no qualms with the revival series, and watched a good 20 or so episodes before drifting off to something else. I really should go back and watch the rest.
There was nothing wrong with it, IMHO.

Now.. licensed games based on BBC IP... That's a whole other issue.
Are there ANY good examples? .. Hitchhikers, and then.. um...

Re: Nintendo Is Seeking Player Feedback On Game-Key Cards In Japan

Jayenkai

I decided not to buy Puyo Puyo Tetris 2S, because I'm against Sega having charged so much just for the addition of a stupid Mouse mode, when realistically it should've been an Upgrade, not a whole replacement.
..
...
...... but having bought it, I got a very similar survey about the game, sent by Nintendo, asking my views, which I thought odd since it's a Sega game.
Honestly, I think this is just a standard survey. Wouldn't look too much into it.

Re: Poll: How Many Hours Have You Spent In Mario Kart World So Far?

Jayenkai

I'm kinda miffed that I seemingly can't play 100cc or above. My motion sickness tends to kick in after about 5 minutes of playing anything above 50cc. It doesn't "feel" that much faster, but apparently my brain-goo has a differing opinion on the matter.

I've been Free-Roaming quite a lot, though. It's nice to adventure and enjoy the world.
