I couldn't get beyond about episode 5. The fight scenes.. Maaan, so many fight scenes. I don't mind a good fight scene, but these.. weren't good fight scenes. Seeing a ball bounce at things repeatedly, over and over, again and again, for ludicrously lengthy scenes. It put me right off it. If I was playing that, fine, but just hearing "Nngh, urgh.. gah!" and seeing a blue circle bobbing about on the screen.. Nah, I gave up.
It's made me go back and watch Boom again, though, so that's ok.
Good grief. The Nintendo-styled bright and colourful static image, Vs the Xbox-styled dinghy, dark, grubby ingame footage. Has the marketing ever been so blatantly focussed??!
So.. the old one is the bright, vibrant, colourful, easily identifiable one, and the better one is the mangled smush of splodges and an unreadable title card in a tiny font?
... is that right?
yeay progress!!! Woot!!
@FirstEmperor I was thinking the other way around.. Like, way earlier.. Could've sworn that the Pokemon-anime was already a well established thing by the time I was in college. I guess not. Memories are failing in my old age!
April '97? Is that really all the far back as the series goes? I was in college by then. My head's timeline isn't functioning accurately, today, methinks. .. Must be the cold weather.
@Ratmasterd21 They're the original normal controllers!! None of these newfangled shoulder buttons. You got one button, and you loved jumping with the up direction.
I hope the ingame music is better than that of the trailer. I HATE bad synth instruments like that. Reminds me of Sonic4. Ugh.. If you're doing synths, do them properly. There's millions of decent SynthVSTi's out there, free even.
Ed Sheeran in the Pokemon Music Universe + Ed Sheeran helped write one of One OK Rock's songs + One OK Rock in the Sonic Music Universe = Sonic's in the Pokemon Universe!!!! OMG!!! Sonic's a Pokemon!!!!!!!!!! ! !!?!??!?!!!? !?! !! ! HeadExplodes
I haven't given a munky's about graphical prowess for a long long time. Once we reached Half Life 2 levels of quality I was, like .. "OK, this is good enough for me.."
RIP Rieko. Gosh, that's kinda scary to think about. How many more of the great names we grew up with have silently passed away without us ever hearing about them? Perhaps NL could do some investigative work, and start a "Are they still with us?" series or something..
It scares me to think of a modern reimagining of this franchise, full of horrific loot boxes and IAPs. The original was "play = reward" and that was perfect, and there was SO MUCH to unlock Beautiful..
I have greatly enjoyed making use of AI Art for many things, from silly obscure artwork for my (too many to list) games, to frequently generating HD counterparts to my Daily Platdude Pixelart.
It has its downsides, sure, and it's still not at a point where I can say "make me a spritesheet of 32x32 pixel sprites for a platform game set in a western town.".. yet...
.... but I don't expect that to be a million miles away, either.
For me, at least, it's not about replacing someone who I'd never have had to make art in the first place.. it's about enhancing what I can accomplish myself.. 'ish!!
21 hours into No Man's Sky Switch. Enjoyable, and much better than I expected. Had a few crashes at first, but the update seems to have solved a lot of the issues. I'm not addicted. ... but I have already racked up another 350 hours on the PS4, and 130 on Xbox Cloud Game Ultimate Pass thing.
Coool... this is like the Sonic Boom marketing all over again. What could possibly go wrong?!? .. .... at least we got that great cartoon, though, right?
6 hours I spent playing this, today. Six!! How'm I supposed to write all these games when I spend 6 hours flying around aimlessly, looking at lovely grassy hills and selling Dirt for profit...!?
I do like One OK Rock, and am in fact listening to their new album as I type this. But I think both of these tracks would've worked better in a Shadow game...
Owned about 4 or 5 over the years. I'm not a "storyline" player, and get bored far too easily, especially when button-mashing the Skip button. Just absolutely zero patience. BOTW is about the only one I've enjoyed properly, but not as a Zelda game.. more as an aimless wandering game. I like that bit. Gimme more of that!!!!
Having originally played with mouse&keyboard, back in the day, I was surprised by how well the gamepad controls worked. .. up until one level where I had to shoot a portal, spin round, shoot another, jump through, and shoot a third, all before the wibbly wobbly power ball hit the wall.. That was too much for the controller!!
I really do want to believe that this'll be as good as it promises..
..but it's going to be stupidly linear, with barely any freedom in the solutions, isn't it.. In the helicopter clip, notice how it goes to "builder world" until you get the correct solution, and only then progresses any further.. That's got my "not a sandbox" hairs a-tingling..
@Clyde_Radcliffe Yeah, there's a fairly large selection available. Top right button on the main menu, then third tab along, brings up a huge library of everyone's content. You can filter by genre and then sort by most recent/most downloaded/most liked/etc.
I think the last count I saw was about 2,000 downloadable things, though with the obvious disclaimer than a couple of hundred are going to be "My first code!" types of things. There's definitely some decent quality games in the list.
Truth be told, I can't remember the last time I had my GameCube powered up. Once the Wii came along with Back-Compat, it seemed kinda meaningless. ... But you'll have to prise it from my cold dead hands...

Re: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection Switch Icon To Be Updated In Next Patch
Old icon + title = cleaner and more "readable".
The chaotic mass of tiny little images in the new icon is just a mess.
