@RupeeClock I agree with both of these viewpoints, to the point where I do find myself wondering why they didn't do both (and more from the series) games together into a mega-game. It's pretty much all the same underlying physics, except for maybe the original first few levels (the Donkey Kong bit) from Super Donkey Kong.... I really don't see why they can't have built a decent editor, and set about recreating ALL the levels from ALL the games. shrugs
I got really tired of the "fight" scenes, really really quickly. Watching a ball bounce around the screen wasn't exactly the most engrossing thing I've seen. I got about halfway through the first season before getting insanely bored by it all. A definite downgrade from what Boom was.
I'm playing "Spending time with family and friends, catching up on another year passed". It's a heartwarming game about joy and love, but occasionally has scary dramas, and tales of horror and misfortune. Highly recommended. 9 out of 10. (Would be 10, but I really didn't enjoy the brain tumour on level 32. That wasn't pleasant.)
@NintendoDad Some day.. My Mum stole the Switch at the start of the moving chaos, so she should continue playing Puyo Puyo Tetris.. Need to set up the PS4 again, before I can get it back.
... Ok, Jay, let's try to figure this modern stuff out.. Collab, you know that word. That's when people use that google thing to make scripts that can be run by other people. Like the Stable Diffusion Training things. Yeah.. OK.. Next.
VTuber. That must be some sort of YouTube replacement without the adverts. Makes sense. Maybe Konami made that? Yeah, that makes sense, too. You're doing well here, Jay. You aren't too old for all of this. Keep going.
Hololive.. .. .. ... Nope, I'm out. Have fun, kids!
Yes, this will make everything better. The person at the top is definitely the reason things got as bad as they did. ... insert reference to the 78,000 prime ministers the UK's had in the past few years, here..
BOTW was removed from the cartridge slot to play Mario Odyssey, and then switched back out once I was done with it. ... oh my goodness.. that's way too much of a chore!!! I've changed disks, tapes, CDs, DVDs and insane numbers of carts over the years. I'm done...!
Over at AGameAWeek, I used to have a feature called AGameAWeek Gold, where I would (much like this) pluck out some old forgotten gems. But people hated it. Because I wasn't picking the good stuff like Tetripong, Retro Raider, Alien Deathmatch, SpikeDislike and more, and was instead rummaging through the archive for things like Mr Money Grabber, BeHandy and Monoblast.
I had to drop it as a feature because, even when giving away free games all the time, and even with the solid amount of stinkers that writing at a rate of AGameAWeek brings... Some people just have a threshold for the quality of games they'll put up with.
I played a couple of these BITD.. And that's where they'll stay.
It's not as bright and vibrant, which is a shame, but if you try and display that on a TV, it can be incredibly garish. I do wonder if there's a "Handheld style" option in the menu, though. Would Nintendo do that sort of thing? shrugs
I've seen a bunch of these "CD Style" animations since the Mania edition arrived, and each time they've felt like they worked just right. .. but this one.. I'm not sure why, this one feels like it really needed Voice Artists. Something about it felt really off. Maybe it's the music? I dunno, it just feels very very silent. And like something important was missing.
Still loved it, though, and the more of these we get, the better. How cool would it be to be able to actually play something that looks like that? Cuphead, I suppose..? Or WarioLand Shake It, with its hand drawn style.
@BTB20 They did? Well, that sounds better, then. Honestly, I prefer not to watch people playing a game. Full of spoilers and stuff. If they want us to see amazing new things, they should kinda put that in the trailer, especially if the trailer is a 15 minute Direct. If they can't showcase "The bits that make this different" in that, then .. .. I guess that's more of a marketing issue than the game.
My interest wained when they started the presentation with "Look at all these amazing new environments.. ... Grass, Fire, Ice, Desert.." and the whole thing carried on as if all these things were new and amazing things we hadn't seen in the past 170,000 Mario games. "Look, it's a map you can walk around in!!" Ugh..
I was super-hyped with the reveal trailer, but this latest Direct made it out as if there's not "that" much new going on. "over a thousand, 2,000 ideas" is all well and good, but I'm really not seeing much beyond "and an elephant suit". I hope there's more to it. I really do.
That bottom-right screenshot, Tommy in a purple/green land, is giving me Bubba'n'Stix vibes..

No, it's not Bubba'n'Stix.. It's the other one.. What was the other one called..!?! Man, my memories are fading..
..some googling later..
Bubble and Squeak.. That's the one!
Just had a go on Apple Arcade. .. probably can't recommend that version, if I'm honest. This game lives or dies on the motion controls. Get it on Switch!
@Kiwi_Unlimited There's plenty of VR Pinballs out there, but the one I've been playing is Zen Pinball on Quest. Mostly because I've not had anything near a VR capable PC for well over a decade! Sure would be nice if my MacBook with all its power could do a few VR things, but, well, you don't buy a Mac and expect games out of it!!
I love a good pinball game, but ever since trying it on VR, I just can't go back. Not unless they re-release Pinball Dreams/Fantasies again. They released fantastic HD editions of those on iOS about a decade ado, but they vanished after one of Apple's Appocalypses, and they never got re-released. Ya, boo, sux. etc.. .. Those'd be nice in VR. Mmmm...
And I bet the fan screams like a Jumbo Jet engine!
I'd love to get into this current trend of handheld PCs, but .. Man, the fan issue really has to be sorted. I have a 1st gen GPD Win micro handheld, in a shell not too dissimilar to the 3DS's, and it's a lovely little thing, but I can barely enjoy it over all the fan noise, and apparently that's quiet compared to some of the more recent devices.
Windows on Arm, properly, with proper gfx support and a capable processor that handles it all, can't come quickly enough.
I grew up with an Amstrad CPC. Nobody else in my school had one. I kept ALL my games!!! Every single one of them!
.. Come the Playstation Generation, and friends and family one by one borrowed my huge collection, until there was barely anything left. I must've had about 50 or so games at one point. I have 5 now. Beatmania, Parappa, Um Jammer Lammy, Vib Ribbon and Road Rash.. .. Because, back then, nobody understood how cool music games were, so those were the only ones I got to keep.
tsk
Nowdays I'm much more protective over my game collection, and everyone hates me for being "so selfish."
If I had more than 5 Playstation games left, maybe I wouldn't be such a [snip]
@nhSnork Aaah, but if they didn't put in all that stuff, in the first place, they wouldn't have to teach parents how to block their nefarious ways.
It's pure evil, I tell ya!!
Make it so that any other person within your sight will run up to you and start prattling on endlessly, telling you that you still haven't defeated the pirates at Lurelin Village, and asking you if you think their relatives are alright. The difficulty level will be how much A-Button mashing your right joycon can take before it explodes.
We're currently downsizing from the family 3 bedroom large semi-detached home, to a smaller 2 bedroom bungalow, and the amount of game cases that went into a skip last month would shock and stun you all. Now all my Gameboy/Gameboy Advance/DS/3DS carts are inside those little wallet things, where they take up a whole lot less space! I kept all my WarioWare cases, though! Cassette/Floppy/CD/DVD based games can't really be stored like that, though, so I definitely need to install some nice big shelving units once I get to the other side.
Yeah, my head went straight towards a new multi-franchise kart-racer, until I saw the logo.
That logo looks very child-like.
I wonder if it's something Leapfrog or otherwise targeted? Maybe some edutainment titles for mobile? (Is Leapfrog still a thing?!!)
Not me. I get bored too easily. Next game, please! Thankfully I grew up in the UK in the 80s, so my collection of games was mostly made up of £2.99/£3.99 budget titles, or games I could make myself. I can't imagine how expensive my childhood would've been had I had a console.
Idea for Sega. Jot down on little pieces of paper, the names of every IP you haven't redone endlessly every 2 or 3 years, and chuck them all into a giant bowl, then pick a few out and make those.
I swear if we see the same set of games from the Shenmue Arcade once more....
Would've loved to have seen proper economies worked into the game. Like buying x item at a low price in one town, selling in another. It's a shame that didn't happen.
