This was my first full FPS, back in the day. Friends all switched to PCs, just as I'd finally saved enough to get my first console. Bah, humbug! But, yeah, this was great back then. It hasn't aged, though, and I don't think modern FPS Gamers should dare attempt it if they don't already have those special rose-tinted spectacles!
@Nancyboy Either that or he's being forced to sit like that because years of crouching at a computer has knackered his spine up something awful. .. he says, out of experience
Yes yes yes!!! Have it on my PS4, but remote played it. (Can't play games on a big telly due to bizarro brain-surgery motion sickness.) Also have it on Xbox GameCloud, but again, less than ideal. I'll be grabbing the Switch, and also the upcoming Mac version, though I expect a Mac version to trigger off my motion sickness just as bad as playing it on a big telly. That's a bit worrying, isn't it? 4 versions of the same game!!
.. wonder I could meet them all up, and have a big cheese and wine party, off on some random planet somewhere..?
I've played these games to death, from the time I rented Sonic&Knuckles 4 or 5 times from the local video shop, so I could complete it with my own copy of Sonic 3, all the way to the numerous re-releases over the years. I've played them enough. I won't be buying this. ... maybe. .. but I probably will, though.
Yeah, I had a couple of 6-button pads back in the day. Hold Mode to play!
Also, Retro-bit have been doing 6button pads for a fair while.. I bought one about 4 or 5 months ago for my Amiga. Sure, only the B buttons works on an Amiga, but. You try finding a decent 9-pin joystick on Amazon!
"It's me, Mario!" A two second clip. That's literally all we've needed for the past year or so. The fact that we still haven't, yet, is exactly why we're all so worried about how bad this might turn out.
Oh that one. I was thinking the stairs one from the PS1. (IQ..?) Hmmm.. Isn't that on the PlayStation Classic Mini thing? Might have to plug that in and have a play.
Having random seeds generate the world and villagers never hurt Animal Crossing. .. and let's be honest, every ounce of randomness would be a breath of fresh air, each time you replay the game.
@UltraZelda64 I think it's all a case of "we asked MJ to do some music, this is what his team sent us." It probably doesn't matter who originally created it, and all the things we've learned since. It's still under the license that has a big red "let's no longer use this.." sticker on it!
My overriding memory of the original is its bug. If they made the "not really the sequel" into some kind of fourth-wall breaking, purposely glitched out bug fest.. .. you know. That actually might redeem the original, for me.
It's like they went "Look at Hyrule after Calamity Ganon.. What would happen to Sonic's World (whilst point-blank refusing to call it Mobius) after Eggman has done the most damage he possibly can to the landscape..?".. Whilst also forgetting that this would end up with a technically-overwhelmed robotised landscape.
I've not been able to enjoy a 3D sonic since my motion sickness stuff kicked in. The rapid camera movements in that footage make me kinda worried. fingers crossed
@GX_64 I know, right!? Everyone's so focused on the MJ stuff that they've apparently forgotten that this alternative soundtrack already existed decades ago!!
I'm not sure we need it, do we?
It was "supposed" to be the Wii-Sports of Switch, but was utterly disappointing.
And now we have the real "NotWii" Sports, as well as Mario Party and WarioWare bringing the minigames.
Not Ninty, but I got Pen Pen Tri-icelon with my Dreamcast. Good grief, that was a regret.. I don't think I have any issues with my Nintendo systems. Well, except maybe the Wii U, but that wasn't an immediate disappointment, more of a gradual one.
Me and my mother play about half an hour of this practically every day, and the only reason we're sticking with the original is that O's Alt-Voice just isn't angry enough in the sequel.
It really is one of the funniest voices I've heard in a game in a long time.
@OrtadragoonX Depends on multiple factors, including brand/type of tea, and how well it's been made. .. though I do tend to drink coffee more, I switch to tea whilst in hospital. 'Cos hospital coffee is the worst coffee imaginable!
Our home's baseline is at 4p per hour. It goes up to about 7 if we turn on the living room lights since we still haven't got around to installing a proper dimming setup in there, and the LED bulbs don't like oldskool dimmer dials. There's an NAS, two routers, a bunch of mobiles on charge and about half a dozen consoles plugged in. Yeah, it definitely adds up, but a full day of it is easily usurped by boiling the kettle a few times a day. That's the real killer. The world needs to find a better solution to boil water!!
Sloop? Really..? Hmm.. Must've heard that word at some point last week, and had it rattling in the back of my mind when I started doing my SmileBASIC game for the week!
A sloop, btw, is a small boat with a single mast. Not really sure what that has to do with a gameboy, unless one of the devs once spent some time along on a boat with only a gameboy to keep them company..?
I absolutely adored that the game carried on without ever stopping to load. The first game, at least, was set in a large tower, and any level loading was done in real-time as you traversed from floor to floor. As a kid, I found that downright amazing!!
Struggling to code a fast level generator on the Amiga, so gave up and opted to chill out with some Breath of the Wild - Aimless Wandering. Haven't done that for quite a while.
I ended up taking my horse (Bob) for a short trip between a few stables. Nice and steady. Calm and soothing. We said hi to a few NPCs, shot arrows at a few birds, and carried on, through our endless journey.
"Subscriptions boxes are all the rage these days." You say that, but almost every box I've been subscribed to has popped its clogs and gone bankrupt!!! I think they managed to release 3 Doctor Who boxes before NerdBlock went the way of the dodo.
Degustabox is probably the only one still going, from my past favourites, but they've been struggling post-brexit, since a lot of their unique foodstuffs were European in origin.
