Re: British Gas Advises Consumers To Turn Off Games Consoles To Save Money

Jayenkai

Our home's baseline is at 4p per hour. It goes up to about 7 if we turn on the living room lights since we still haven't got around to installing a proper dimming setup in there, and the LED bulbs don't like oldskool dimmer dials.
There's an NAS, two routers, a bunch of mobiles on charge and about half a dozen consoles plugged in.
Yeah, it definitely adds up, but a full day of it is easily usurped by boiling the kettle a few times a day. That's the real killer.
The world needs to find a better solution to boil water!!

Sloop? Really..? Hmm.. Must've heard that word at some point last week, and had it rattling in the back of my mind when I started doing my SmileBASIC game for the week!

A sloop, btw, is a small boat with a single mast. Not really sure what that has to do with a gameboy, unless one of the devs once spent some time along on a boat with only a gameboy to keep them company..?

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (April 16th)

Jayenkai

Struggling to code a fast level generator on the Amiga, so gave up and opted to chill out with some Breath of the Wild - Aimless Wandering. Haven't done that for quite a while.

I ended up taking my horse (Bob) for a short trip between a few stables. Nice and steady. Calm and soothing.
We said hi to a few NPCs, shot arrows at a few birds, and carried on, through our endless journey.

Chilled...

Re: Amazon US Launches Pokémon T-Shirt Subscription Service

Jayenkai

"Subscriptions boxes are all the rage these days."
You say that, but almost every box I've been subscribed to has popped its clogs and gone bankrupt!!!
I think they managed to release 3 Doctor Who boxes before NerdBlock went the way of the dodo.

Degustabox is probably the only one still going, from my past favourites, but they've been struggling post-brexit, since a lot of their unique foodstuffs were European in origin.

Re: The Zelda: Ocarina Of Time PC Port Is Finished And Out Now

Jayenkai

I always feel the same way seeing projects like this... And that is.. I'd really like to see what talented developers like this could REALLY do, if they weren't cloning someone else's work.
Make something new and unique. Use that EPIC amount of skill that you quite clearly have, and amaze us with your own projects.

Re: Talking Point: How Long Does Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Take To Beat, Really?

Jayenkai

I haven't finished it yet.
The battles, with the camera panning around rapidly and endlessly, kicks off my motion sickness.
As much as I "have" managed to complete, I haven't yet risked the end battle, because I know it's going to be a lot of swirling and nausea and .. Bleurgh..
There's other things I can't do in the game, too, but for the most part I can aimlessly wander and explore, and things aren't too bad in general gameplay.

I'm over 350 hours. Which is pretty dang lame considering I haven't beat it yet! But I'm ok with that, because I've really enjoyed my time with it.

I "kinda" look forward to the next one. But I'm worried that I might've explored the map to death already. I do hope there's LOADS more to do in the next one.

Re: Talking Point: How's Your Switch Holding Up After 5 Years?

Jayenkai

1st Day Switch, still working just fine. 1st Day Joycons have been replaced, as they started drifting, though it was only a few months ago, so they certainly held up.
It's had over 360 hrs of BOTW, and I've written over 135 games in SmileBASIC.
... and other games, occasionally, a bit.. maybe..

Yep, yep, yep.

Re: 'Jackbox Party Starter' Will Include Their Three Best Party Games For Newbies And Oldbies Alike

Jayenkai

Be absolutely certain you have
1. A good enough network to handle the switch online, AND simultaneously enough mobile devices for all the players, also being online.
2. The ability for all players to occasionally understand the weird Americanised references that often crop up.
3. Other players around you, or via a twitch stream or whatnot.

Then they're fun.
If you're a sad and lonely gamer like me, you'll wish they still made more single player-able games.

Re: Popular Video Game Music YouTube Channel Receives 1,300 Copyright Claims From Nintendo

Jayenkai

There are two sides to this argument.
On the one hand, it's not theirs to post it to YouTube, and it's entirely within reason for Ninty to take it down.
On the other hand, Ninty should probably give us access to this stuff, somehow.

Only one of those will be a guaranteed win in court.
Choose your battles wisely, people.

What would be lovely would be the soundtracks playable on your Switch for any games you've purchased.
Like how Smash Bros does it.

Re: Random: The Rock Will Star In A New "Badass" Video Game Movie

Act One : Scene Five
At a shop. Buys am alarming amount of bubble gum.

Act Two : Scene Three
Picks up gun. Puts down bag. Tries gun. Enjoys gun. Wanders off, leaving bag behind. Bag contains bubble gum.

Act Five : Scene Eight
Blasting at alien creatures, reaches for a stick of gun, but realises he's all out of bubble gum.

Give me more shops, crafting, and different economies.
Let me build a chair from a rare wood in one land, paint it with dyes made from colourful mushrooms in another area, then sell it for a fortune in a third.
Mmmmm....
Still can't bring myself to do the final fight. Motion sickness vs swooping battle camera = bad times. But I LOVE the engine and it's world.
Basically, more to explore, and more to do once I get there.
That'll be me happy for another 360+ hours.
