Donkey Kong Country is one of those few games that I can replay almost infinitely. It is like Jet Force Gemini, where I play through it almost yearly sometimes a couple times in a year even.
I still love the way the game looks and sounds, it brings me back to a simpler time and it is always fun when I can get my brother to join in for some co-op, me using the obviously superior Kong, that being Diddy. While I will agree the gameplay has been improved in the sequels that came to follow there is something about the original that makes it more likely for it to be the one I replay. It's such a timeless game.
I am currently playing Dave the Diver and it is a gem of a game. The gameplay loop is super addictive much like Stardew Valley so I will likely be putting alot of time into it this weekend.
This was fun. It is very interesting learning Switch user's habits. Next year should make for a very interesting survey with the Switch 2 most likely being out!
Dang. Glad I got it physically then on Switch. Wonder why it is being delisted since these are their own games and I would assume own all the licenses to them as a result.
40 hours for a Mario and Luigi game is pretty beefy, between that and the positive impressions I am getting more excited for this game of a series I thought was dead after Alpha Dream was unfortunately shut down. I am glad this is a proper game in the series.
I would hope adding music to the app would be a much quicker process than adding games to the Switch Online service. If they get their whole catalog on there someday that is some pretty solid value.
Obviously it is very early days but there are so many games I hope to see added, basically their entire N64 catalogue, but so far it is very promising. I am having a really good time with it.
I have been trying it. It is actually pretty cool although it isn't anything you can't already do on your phone via YouTube Music. It is kind of cool to have an official way to listen to the music though.
@ChromaticDracula I agree sometimes it is nice to play the games as they were originally intended. Warts and all. Hence why I am playing Banjo Tooie on the Switch Online service at the moment.
It is interesting that these games are remastered and also available on the Switch for purchase.
I don't see why I would play these OG N64 versions instead of the remasters other than trying to save a couple bucks but I am glad they are added nonetheless.
I did notice that when I left my OLED system in sleep mode over 24 hours it would lose 60 percent of the charge, I don't know if that has anything to do with the battery issues mentioned.
Having beaten Jet Force Gemini, I am currently playing through the newly added Banjo Tooie. Also have Dave the Diver and Balatro arriving physically today!
I was always hoping this would come to Switch as I had a hard time getting it to emulate properly. So far I am impressed with the results, it looks and plays great.
@FredsBodyDouble Yes it is. I prefer the other two games I mentioned but Darkwood has a great atmosphere to it, lengthy too at around 20 hours for me to beat it. General gameplay is gathering resources and exploring during the day so you have better odds of surviving the night, successfully doing so grants you extra resources to spend on traders for stuff like ammunition. After while you can get loaded on ammunition but you never feel like a one man army. Every night is tense even if nothing ever happens.
I was considering getting this one to play for spooky month but I already played Darkwood, Crow Country and Killer Frequency so this one may have to wait until next year or whenever I need another horror fix, moving on to a different genre for now. This game has always intrigued me though.
After finishing up Castlevania Harmony of Dissonance (which was fantastic by the way) I decided to get Ghost of a Tale on Switch and have been having a fun time sneaking around as a mouse in a medieval kingdom.
I would love to play them as they are some of the few Sonic games I have never played. I have been enjoying the Castlevania Advance collection so much I think it would be great to see more games from that era come over as a collection.
I used to love Level 5 back in the PS2/DS days because I knew anything with their name on it was going to be quality. I hope they have a massive resurgence even if the team has likely changed radically since then.
The Castlevania DS collection coming out inspired me to pick up the Castlevania Advance collection and I just today finished up Circle of the Moon and have moved on to Harmony of Dissonance.
The jump in gameplay between the two games is surprising. Harmony of Dissonance feels like a portable Symphony of the Night and I love it for that.
Although I am not personally interested in the SNES version of the game I think it is really cool that they are putting out a new cartridge for it in 2024.
I had no clue this game was that popular but it has been on my wishlist for awhile. The price isn't an issue since it is only 15 bucks, I just need to make time to play it. I definitely plan to do that though, looks very fun.
I enjoyed Braid back in the day on the 360 but that was back when indie games like this were a lot less common. These days with so many quality indie games being released on all platforms Braid was most likely always going to be left in the dust.
In my opinion better games have come out since then but I will always appreciate the game for what it contributed to the indie scene back then.
As long as it is backwards compatible I am more than ok with moving on to a newer system. Even though I have no plans of selling my Switch as I always keep my systems I still like to be able to play older games on newer hardware if possible so I can enjoy all the extra bells and whistles that provides.
My brother has this installed on steam deck and I tried it out and I have to say it is very impressive, makes you wonder why Nintendo can't put that kind of effort in to a remaster.
Although, I will admit the 3DS remaster is pretty good but once you can add the 3DS textures to this version this will be the definitive way to play.
I was wanting to play this one when it came out in so I don't know if I will have the patience to wait for the physical even though this is the type of game I would definitely like to have on a cartridge.

Great addition. We have been needing some F-Zero music on the service!
Re: We're Really Jealous Of Japan's Incredible New Pokémon Gold & Silver Merch
That Ho-Oh plushie looks awesome! Heartgold was the first Pokemon game I played and I have always enjoyed his design.

@GamingFan4Lyf Very true. Perhaps with more games added even, an upgraded version I would hope.

Re: Feature: "I Don’t Want To See It Fizzle Out” - Stardew Valley Creator On Why He Can't Give It Up
It's my favorite indie game ever made so I am ok with him continuing to work on it honestly. It's so very good, one of the all time greats imo.

Re: Dave The Diver's Latest Crossover Update Arrives Today, Here Are The Full Patch Notes
Perfect timing. I just bought the physical versions of both Balatro and Dave the Diver, it will be cool to see how they are implemented.
Dave the Diver has been a bit of an indie collab mecca recently.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (19th October)

Hope to have it finished by then.

Dang I tried to get in but unfortunately couldn't. Very curious as to what it is for.
Re: An Alien: Isolation Sequel Is Officially In Development
Glad we are getting a sequel just wish they didn't have to wait ten years to make one.
Because of the long time gap I wonder how much of the original team is even still left. I just want it to be as good as the original.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (5th October)
Being October I thought I would take up a spooky game and in this case I chose Darkwood on Switch.
It's great so far, uncovering the map and finding more resources to make your situation better and better is pretty addictive.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (21st September)

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (17th August)
I am playing through Star Ocean 2 on Switch and having a pretty good time as I begin to grasp all the mechanics and figure stuff out.
If I am not doing that I am playing Diablo 4 with my brother on Steam Deck.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (10th August)
My goal this weekend is to get as far as I can in Paper Mario TTYD, hopefully beating it if possible.

Those are actually really cool! I may have to boot the game up so I can redeem them as it is one of my favorite SNES games.
Re: Poll: Which Is Your Favourite Nintendo Game Cartridge Design?
May be nostalgia talking but N64 all the way for me, the boxart they came in were best too, if a bit flimsy.
Re: Braid: Anniversary Edition Sales Have Been "Utterly Terrible", Says Creator
