The fact that they are updating this makes me think it is here to stay, at least for this generation, otherwise they wouldn't have bothered. It does look alot nicer now I will give them that.
I just watched this video over on YouTube, this definitely puts my mind at ease about the whole burn in situation. Now when I get an OLED someday I will have nothing to worry about.
I do like it, but I need something better to redeem my platinum points on than custom profile pics or keychains from the store that you still have to pay shipping on. This is a good base to start from, it just needs a little more work.
It would be cool if someday you could use platinum points to redeem themes for the Switch, I have a bunch that are just sitting there since the physical rewards on My Nintendo have not been great lately.
For a minute I thought they had given up on patching the game further, hopefully them taking this long to release another update means it will be a large amount of fixes, maybe even bringing the game up to an acceptable state.
With all these improvements Nintendo is making to the N64 games it is slowly but surely becoming a better offering. I would like to think that the yearly 50 dollar price tag is encouraging them to put more effort into the service.
I would mainly use a device like this to play older games that are not on the Switch like the classic Splinter Cell games or the older Elder Scrolls games, for that purpose it would be fantastic as the Switch is unlikely to get games like those any time soon.
The appeal of this device for me is playing games that the Switch will miss out on, with the added benefit of portability, it could never replace the system because of the incredible first party lineup but as a supplemental device it would be great.
Have to agree, Ocarina of Time set up an amazing template, but Majora's Mask is so quirky and out of the norm that I can't help but love it more. I love it when games try something new and fresh, and there really hasn't been another game like it since. I would love an expanded on Majora's Mask style Zelda game.
I say if Nintendo has no plans to do something with the game in house then let Nightdive handle it, they have already proven they do great work at remastering games.
Awesome! I was curious as to who was going to replace Jon since he left, I am looking forward to seeing what Felix can bring to Nintendolife's YouTube Scene.
Feeling a little under the weather this weekend so I may not be playing a whole lot, but if I do I figure I will jump on New Pokemon Snap, I am enjoying making funny pictures and uploading them for the world to enjoy.
@AstralRedStar705 It is there to add more value, yes, if you were already subscribing to the expansion pack and have no intention of cancelling like me then this is just more bang for your buck, without having to buy it up front. If they keep adding in more content like this the 50 dollar price tag of the pack will be much easier for people to swallow.
@AstralRedStar705 You can always buy it separately, no one is forcing you to get the expansion pack. If the expansion pack was required then I would agree but it isn't.
It looked like from the footage that it runs at 60fps, which is super cool, I love that all these Star Wars games are on Switch, I just need Kotor 2 and possibly the classic Battlefronts and I would have everything I need.
I am partially surprised that they are keeping the more edgy vibe the strikers series is known for, but I am glad they did. I am very happy the series is returning, it looks great!
The scene of the hill at the end gave me major Xenoblade Chronicles 1 vibes, I hope that is intentional because that game was amazing, haven't played 2 but Chronicles 1 is my favorite out of those I have played.
48 more tracks is mind-blowing and this really adds some solid value to the expansion pack, it is slowly starting to feel more and more like the value is there for the 50 bucks.
This is great news, I have never played the second game and haven't played the first since the Xbox 360 days, these games are very welcome on the Switch.
No way I am brave enough to try Dread Mode, that is going to be one tough cookie, I thought normal was challenging enough, haven't tried hard yet. Free updates especially to Metroid games are welcome though!
While I would have preferred a remaster of Wii Sports Resorts because I felt the games were more interesting I understand why they made this one instead, these are the most popular, they were iconic with the Wii.
Awesome this could be really cool, from the trailer it looks like the performance is up to snuff and I can see myself losing hours playing this game in handheld with headphones on.
As soon as he said playing for longer periods of time and mentioning market changes I immediately thought of live service games, I hope that isn't the case and they just mean a bigger project than they have worked on in the past.
I have actually been hoping for these games to be released on Switch for a very long time, this would be great if true. They always seemed like such a good fit for the system.
Now that is a great price for the game, I paid the 40 for it myself and although it is a great time it never felt like it was worth that price to me. At 20 bucks it is an easy recommendation.
I much prefer the way Nintendo have been doing acquisitions, buying companies that are already making great games for them makes sense and really doesn't lock out anyone who weren't already interested in playing their games. Buying studios who are primarily multiplatform is a worse practice in my eyes.
And that is despite a shortage of components to build the thing, even though I have one I am well aware of the difficulty in finding one, only way I was able to obtain one was via Sony themselves. I am curious to how much it could have sold if the systems were readily available.
@Kilroy Yeah that's fine, options are cool, just personally for me I am not interested, if they always keep the option of playing games locally and physical no harm done. Choices are good.
@BloodNinja I am with you on streaming movies, I own a large library of digital movies, but at least for the Internet where I live using PS Now has proven that streaming has a long ways to go before I would ever consider it my preferred way to play games, and I have decent Internet.
@BloodNinja Not now, but all of these acquisitions point to that direction in the future, I hope I am proven wrong but Microsoft have made it pretty clear what their intention is in terms of game pass. It's only a matter of time before others follow suit, Nintendo will take a long time for that though since they are usually last for everything but in the far future I can definitely see it happening.
Exactly what I have been saying, the future of gaming is looking bleak in my eyes, everything being bought up is not a good thing, it just becomes a contest of who purchases the most developers rather than who cultivates them. Even though it is inevitable the idea of gaming becoming like Netflix is a huge turn off to me, and if that is the direction that my hobby is going I will only be playing older systems, where for the most part aside from Nintendo, in my eyes the games were better anyway.
I am not sure what more they can do for the genre to be honest, other than just do it bigger and better. Games like Metroid Dread and Hollow Knight are near perfect as far as metroidvanias go.
Graphics aren't everything to me, hence why I still consider some N64 games to look amazing at times like Jet Force Gemini, the main thing that irks me is for newer releases I expect the games to have a solid frame rate, back in the day when technology was limited I accepted the issues but nowadays with enough polish I don't think there is a reason for any game to have a dodgy frame rate, it is often just a result of bad optimization.
I wonder if this is one of those games like BOTW where players will discover small details even years after release. Probably not since Gamefreak aren't as experienced as the Zelda team at making open worlds but it would be cool if it was the case.
I actually played this a bit when I was a kid, found it pretty though but at the time I didn't have many options for World War 2 shooters so I enjoyed it, I can't speak as to how good it actually is though, it has been too long to say.
Can't wait to experience this again on Switch, I have been waiting for this able to come back to a Nintendo platform for so long, don't get me wrong I love the Rare Replay version but I am very much looking forward to playing it on where it belongs.
I am assuming they have no plans to further patch the game because we haven't heard a word about future updates since the second round came out, I have not played the trilogy on an platform but I doubt they are truly in what we would call a finished state. If I get them at all it will be with a very heavy discount, I want to play them but I won't pay top dollar for subpar ports, that is unless more patches are in fact coming.

In the US the game is actually on sale for 20 bucks on the eShop, I am tempted to pick it up, it is the only DOOM game I do not have on Switch.

As long it runs smooth enough without too many sacrifices that's all that matters, 720p 30fps when handheld shouldn't be too much to ask.
