Re: Round Up: The Reviews Of Valve's Steam Deck Are In - What's It Like Compared To Switch?

Dpishere

I would mainly use a device like this to play older games that are not on the Switch like the classic Splinter Cell games or the older Elder Scrolls games, for that purpose it would be fantastic as the Switch is unlikely to get games like those any time soon.

The appeal of this device for me is playing games that the Switch will miss out on, with the added benefit of portability, it could never replace the system because of the incredible first party lineup but as a supplemental device it would be great.

@AstralRedStar705 It is there to add more value, yes, if you were already subscribing to the expansion pack and have no intention of cancelling like me then this is just more bang for your buck, without having to buy it up front. If they keep adding in more content like this the 50 dollar price tag of the pack will be much easier for people to swallow.

And that is despite a shortage of components to build the thing, even though I have one I am well aware of the difficulty in finding one, only way I was able to obtain one was via Sony themselves. I am curious to how much it could have sold if the systems were readily available.

Re: Soapbox: Don't Cheer For Corporate Takeovers - It's Not A Game

@BloodNinja Not now, but all of these acquisitions point to that direction in the future, I hope I am proven wrong but Microsoft have made it pretty clear what their intention is in terms of game pass. It's only a matter of time before others follow suit, Nintendo will take a long time for that though since they are usually last for everything but in the far future I can definitely see it happening.

Exactly what I have been saying, the future of gaming is looking bleak in my eyes, everything being bought up is not a good thing, it just becomes a contest of who purchases the most developers rather than who cultivates them. Even though it is inevitable the idea of gaming becoming like Netflix is a huge turn off to me, and if that is the direction that my hobby is going I will only be playing older systems, where for the most part aside from Nintendo, in my eyes the games were better anyway.

Re: Soapbox: Pokémon Legends: Arceus Raises The Question - How Much Do Janky Graphics Matter?

Dpishere

Graphics aren't everything to me, hence why I still consider some N64 games to look amazing at times like Jet Force Gemini, the main thing that irks me is for newer releases I expect the games to have a solid frame rate, back in the day when technology was limited I accepted the issues but nowadays with enough polish I don't think there is a reason for any game to have a dodgy frame rate, it is often just a result of bad optimization.

Re: Grand Theft Auto Trilogy Has "Done Just Great" Despite Disastrous Launch

I am assuming they have no plans to further patch the game because we haven't heard a word about future updates since the second round came out, I have not played the trilogy on an platform but I doubt they are truly in what we would call a finished state. If I get them at all it will be with a very heavy discount, I want to play them but I won't pay top dollar for subpar ports, that is unless more patches are in fact coming.
