Nintendo and huge success never go hand in hand with humble and feet on the ground. If anything they will get more greedy and consumer unfriendly like they did in the past.
I'm glad they are doing well but they are not the humble Nintendo from the Iwata days.
That's very un-Nintendo off them, how dare they make it free. All jokes aside, I played it for a hour yesterday, and it's a great game so far. I'm glad they will support it in the future.
They should had let this go in the first place. They made Palword so much bigger then it was, it was the best free marketing they could get. Imo they should give another developer ,like monolith, a shot at pokemon, let them make a remake of gold and silver in full 3D or something. Make pokemon amazing again. Gamefreak can still focus on new entries, but at least they might get some competition and aim higher in the process.
@CupidStunt I don't really think Nintendo still has it in them to really push those graphical boundaries. They left that motivation at the GameCube. Would love to see that with the ocarina of time remake though, bit something tells me it will have a different graphic style then most of us will hope.
@Serpenterror I don't think Miyamoto has kuch involvement in the games anymore, same as with Zelda. He has more of a advising role at the moment and more invested in the movies.
@MoldyPasta I think you misunderstood the pint of my reaction. I reacted to a post that said that Sony and Microsoft only make the same games like open world games without any ambition. My point is that Nintendo does exactly the same with those two exceptions in the last decade or so. The games you mentioned are all great games but fall into the same category the poster I reacted on said.
If you really look, without diehard fan glasses on, at Nintendo games they are pretty identical each generation. It's not a bad thing, because it's what we want as fans but it's not fair to call Microsoft or Sony out while they do the exact same thing as Nintendo has been doing for as long as they've been making games.
@Truegamer79 I'm saying this as a Nintendo fan since the NES. Nintendo does the same these days, copy paste and put in some axtra flavor of nostalgia to win the old crowd over. The games are still good but they are doing the same as the others with recycling past success, and I don't onlyean the countless remasters and remakes in switch. Kirby air ride 2 seems to be the most passionate and ambitious Nintendo exclusive since breath of the wild.
Exclusives matter, they always have. Best case scenario is both PlayStation and Nintendo going head to head. That way both will bring the best on the table. When one is one top they become corporate greedy heyanas, just look at the past. PlayStation with PS3 release ( they thought they could do whatever they wanted) and Nintendo with the SNES days and now with the Switch 2. When they need to battle for sales, we as gamers benefit, because great exclusives will be made.
@Pillowpants @BulkSlash yeah those were the good old days. I managed to get the Zelda collectors edition with ocarina of time and Majora's mask with this. I also remember wanting a Majora's mask statue, but I was never able to get enough star points for it.
@Jeronan it's a shame they don't get extra time for this. Would be really exciting to see people and pokemon walking around alot more like in the series. Hopefully in the future we will get this, as they should aim higher being the big franchise with the most potential. But then again Pokemon is aimed at small children, who most likely don't get care about that. My kids play Roblox all the time, Wich looks a 1000 times worse 😄
Great numbers. The battles is where this game shines. Pokemon will never be a graphical masterpiece. The thing they do need to change is make the city more alive. Let the people walk around instead of standing in random places like a statue. Gamefreak is stuck in the past with this. I think that would make a great difference. It will improve the feel and look if the game completely. The world feels empty and lifeless now.
Yet in Europe we have the same stuff as usual, stickers, notebooks and magnets. I miss the GameCube days when you could get games like the collectors edition of Zelda and statues of games.
So were all depressive and dark minded gamers these days. I enjoy these kind of stories, but lately I actively search for games with at least a happy ending.
It really says a lot about a developer that they can't be bothered to get a year old game working perfectly on a new console. It's not like persona 3 was a technically, graphically master piece on PS5.
Switch 2 looks a little less sharper. But these are cut scenes and it's an upscaled PS4 game on PS5. Still impressive though. Can't wait till next year to see the switch 2 first party games.
They can and should do so much better for Pokemon. It's a franchise that should be one of the best looking games on a Nintendo console. Look at how well other developers do cell shaded graphics. They could easily recreate the anime. Pokemon Company had more then enough money to put in the games. They can create their own engine if they wanted to.
I know the games bring in the least money compared from everything Pokemon, but they are at the very start of every new gen.
@kmtrain83 what I mean by that is that if people don't buy the third party GCK's, support for either GCK or switch 2 might change in a year of two by third parties. Poor sales might push support back like with the Wii U. Digital sales might be good enough, however the small hard disk of switch 2 might be a deal breaker for a lot of people to buy big sized third party games. Expanding the storage isn't cheap either at the moment.
It's to early to tell though but in a couple of years we will know more about the effects of GCK.
So the Switch 2 should be the switch 1 version. Pokemon Company really should invest more money in the games, they have more then enough. Pokemon games could be so much more,
@Pillowpants i think the impact of the key cards will only be visible after a couple years. As we will see wether third party will still use them or drop support for S2. As long as Nintendo will release all first party on cards I'm happy. I will buy third party on PS5 if it is available on that console. Nintendo's first party games will always be the most important games for most, and the biggest reason to buy a Nintendo console.
Hopefully this means there is big game coming in the first half of 2026 that they need the stock. New Mario or ocarina of time remake. One can dream right.
These are of fantastic quality I own the simple Mario Kart statue. Bought it for 80€. It was an impulse buy as I was hit by the nostalgia hammer when I saw it. This price though, ouch, you can buy more then 9 games with that.
@benmalsky198 the characters looked great in DK Bananza, I applaud Nintendo for finally adding so much expression in it's characters. The environments however didn't look as good as they could be, especially when you stand still and close to walls and buildings.
The games look better then switch 1, but it's very noticeable that these games were in development for Switch 1 at some point and they quickly switched over to the new console. Kirby air ride is the same, I do think the Nintendo games that will release next year will look much better as they will be developed for switch 2 from the start. We all know Nintendo can make amazing looking games when they want.
The games play great however and are fun, Wich is also important.
Wow, feels like I traveled back to the 90's while reading the comments. I enjoy Sonic crossworlds more this time. I was disappointed in Mario kart world to be honest. After 11 years of Mario kart 8 on Wii U and switch this was what they came up with. Maybe it's because it was initially planned as a switch 1 game but graphically it didn't really move any mountain, though to ge honest none of the switch 2 first party games do. I found the environments lifeless and not only in the open world, but also in the races. Especially compared to previous Mario karts. It's kind of compatible like the transition from double dash to Mario kart Wii.
The gameplay is however still solid of MKW as is always with Mario kart. But this time, for me, Sonic wins the race for now. Some competition is good for the kart racing genre.
I'm sorry but they really lost all sense of reality after the success of the switch 1. Selling a game for 70 and not even two months later dlc for 20..
I'll buy it on sale sometime. Would have bought it if it wasn't a keycard. I honestly thought this would be completely on a card because the game is a big enough title to warrent it, or aren't there 128GB size cards?
Just hope for a new Mario, ocarina of time remake, revival of a old Nintendo IP, FF VII remake complete physical release ( I will triple dip if that happens). But we'll see, I keep my hype in check for now. To bad I'm working at the time of the direct.
Hoping for that glorious Zelda ocarina of time remake announcement. But will probably not happen, guess I'll settle for a new Mario and Metroid prime 4 release.
And people still think Nintendo is the nicest company. This mechanic has been used even on the way back in the day of the SNES and Mega Drive, and used in countless games. They shouldn't even be able to patent this and be able to use it order to target other companies for money. Nintendo are becoming there worse self again from the past.
I dislike the key card thing and will only buy first party games on the switch 2. As a Nintendo fan I hink it's a solid line-up you have a new Mario Kart and a great 3D Donkey Kong game. Compare it to the past Nintendo consoles, it beats GameCube, Wii and Wii U.
@The_Nintendo_Pedant or the original Watership down. Cartoons were really dark back then in comparison to the soft movies these days. I watched Dumbo with my kids a while ago, they didn't seem notice those things though, they just like the elephant and mouse. I don't think we will ever see those kind of things from Disney again.
Never got to play it so going to give it a go. Hopefully they will be eventually be allowed to add games like Castlevania 64, Mega man 64, and both Goemon games.
