They think they're going to make the next lord of the rings. I dislike the idea of trilogies. It just means a crappy open ending for the first two. End if it fails you have a movie with no ending like the golden compass, back when they first tried to film that. Hopefully they film it back to back.

If the launch games are good and pre-ordering one won't be a disaster like the PS5, I will get it. I'm not going the PS5 thing where to needed to be on a constant alert to get one, I had zero enjoyment in buying it at launch

Mario Kart might not be the reason to buy a Nintendo console, but it's always a reason to have one. It will sell great like every Mario Kart.

Not gonna happen. It will make more sense to announce some new Switch 1 games next week and show enhancements with the switch 2 backwards compatibility.

@larryisaman that will most likely be the case, best of both worlds. And like you said this is a expensive game because of it's development cycle, so it needs to sell big. So having it on both will be best case.

Wouldn't want to see Metroid end up like f-zero and star fox.

I'm still surprised this wasn't just pushed to switch 2. It would make the most sense as it can really shine as a launch title.

This looks amazing. I would love to see this animation style in a short series like Sega did with Sonic Mania.

Donkey Kong '94 with the super Game Boy was something else. A whole new world opened up to gamers back then. One of the greatest games of the 90's.

I'm turning in a grumpy man stuck in the past. I would love to see a Ocarina of time remake, Golden Sun, Star fox, a great Mega man 3d game from Capcom. That's the dream list.

Now the realistic list: Mario kart, first glimpse of 3D Mario, some third party ports, breath of the wild 4k with all dlc included ( because Nintendo does make questionable choices sometimes.)

All I hope for is one giant game with all the regions and all current Pokemon, so you can really catch them all and compete in all the leagues in one game. No new region with new Pokemon.

@Anti-Matter considering your preference for kid friendly games I don't think the Sonic franchise as a whole is something for you. Sonic has always aimed at older kids and teeangers, and been more edgy then it's counterpart Mario in the 90's. Especially since the adventure games the franchise got a darker tone.

The smurfs kart game might be more for you or the paw patrol kart game. My kids enjoyed those for a while.

It will all depend on the launch lineup. imagine if those Nintendo dream launch game rumours would be true (Mario Kart, 3D Mario, Zelda and Metroid) then they can easily get away with 500. The system will immediately give a lot of value to own.

The more likely scenario is that they reduce the price of standard and oled by 50 in March/april and give the switch 2 a price of 350-400.

@N00BiSH it doesn't, I personally think it looks better then the newer games. But I wouldn't be surprised if someday they will remake it.

Nostalgia is a burden. I'm going to need this in my collection.

Too bad he can't enjoy this masterpiece of a game himself. Maybe if a remake gets made he can finally play and fully enjoy it.

Well they were asking alot if money. Even if the filmmaker himself isn't earning a lot with it someone is. So therefore these kind of projects will be shut down

They could always try to bend the project and still make what they wanted but without the Zelda characters and world used in it.

I will happily play Metroid on the new Switch 2.

@Znake thank for this reply as well. I did enjoy the game though and finished it. But because of the controls I haven't played it after, that's what I meant with unplayable for me. Should have added that in my first post.

@Znake maybe read the comment instead of throwing a tandrem and call everyone a lazy gamer because they don't agree with your vision. I played games since the NES days and are used to difficult controls you need to learn.

Nowhere did I say this was a bad game. I think it's a good game, I just said that the controls killed the game for most, Wich is a fact and unfortunately the game sold less because of it.

It's too bad Star Fox zero pretty much doomed the series. It are the controls that killed the game for most. I still own the game but I just find it unplayable because of it. Hopefully the series will make a return on Switch 2.

Never played this one back in the day, as it was way more expensive then the PSone games. Definitely going to try this version.

@Jayenkai I still remember that space world 2000 tech demo, and after that the showed the wind waker design. There were a lot of angry fans. Funny thing, they pulled the same thing with Wii U. Amazing tech demo and after that wind waker. They have a cruel sense of humor sometimes.

So he looks less angry 24/7. Seems like they are going back to the NES/GB/SNES style with Mario. Unexpected to be honest, really thought they would go with the movie style. Looking forward to the next 3D Mario to see if that changes style to

Crazy, $1400 for a paper card is insane. How can a card be worth so much.

Nintendo always had these kind of characters in it's games, but in the West they were mostly changed or removed, this is finally changing. I don't think they are actively pursuing to add these characters in.

Always sad to hear a project is cancelled because of these reasons.

I hope the all the devs that experience this can bounce back and start enjoying making games again. Not every game needs to be bigger and better then the previous one. Somehow that has become the golden standard, but I'm positive that most gamers don't share that believe.

To be honest it outdid 3D world and Oddesy, the older ones not. Still think Galaxy is one of the best platformers out there.

I'm happy astrobot did this well, it means Nintendo will get competition on the platformer genre again, Wich only means good things for us gamers

I'm a early adopter junkie. I can't resist a new Nintendo or PlayStation console, I blame my childhood. There's nothing quite like opening up that box at launch, hooking it up to your tv and start it up for the very first time. It's a moment you really need to take your sweet time for, to cherish that moment.

It feels like yesterday I got this game and plugging it in my 64. Being amazed by the art of the title screen, and debating with friends Wich one is better, Mario Kart 64 or Diddy Kong Racing.

I voted Japan, I like the Mario art just a little more

@GrailUK could be, of the trailers are good they will. I always watch the great trailers countless times, and I'm sure others to. I for one can't wait to see what they show next.

@WheresWaveRace both Sony and Nintendo need each other as competition. That way they bring the best out of each other. So I hope both of them do well.

The PS5 also had seperate trailers for their PS5 games, so unless you count them to, the comparison fails. switch 2 only has one trailer. Don't really see the relevance in this newspost other then starting flaming discussion between fans of one and the other.

Looks fine to me. Most likely matches the style they are aiming for more then the otginal. They wouldn't just change a iconic style so easily, If not with a good reason.

@Dazman Nintendo never sells at a lost, they always make sure they get a profit of their products. 450 sounds like a good price, don't really have a limit. I bought a PS3 for 600 so everything under that is great. As long as the launch games are great.

The storage space should be more then 256 GB. Especially for third party games. Nintendo always fits everything on the game cards but those need to be bigger to this time. Those leaked prices for 70-80€ games might not be so far-fetched.

Hopefully there is more then enough stock available to get one. It would also help if stores only sell one per person the first months to try and combat the scalpers.

They should have waited imo and go full reveal with amazing games along with it. But I guess the leaks forced them to reveal something. This felt like a rushed reveal, especially with 3 months waiting time for the rest.

I don't know, my head says I should be excited, but my feeling says no. Mario kart doesn't look that impressive. I know it might be a older built but still.. with a console reveal you might think you need to shine.

@ozwally I don't think Nintendo will ever change their mindset or approach. They always lived in their own bubble, and that works for them. Sometimes they stumble because of that like the N64 and Wii U, sometimes they manage like the GameCube and sometimes they hit high like the Wii and Switch (Even though the switches succes was partly thanks to the pandemic). Let's hope for them Switch 2 will also be a hit.

@sanderev I get your point, however just giving a game the same score as the original isn't fair to todays standards, especially when they ask full price of a new game with barely any difference to the original. That would mean they can release ocarina of time each generation with minor tweaks and get an instant 10/10 just because it got that score in 1998.

Those screenshots look terrible. I'm sure it looks better in motion but those screens.... They don't do the game justice.
