Re: Hands On: Forget The Name, Square Enix's New Action RPG Is A Lovely HD-2D Take On SNES-Era Zelda

Enjoyed it, but wasn’t 100% sold on the combat. Went back after 24 hours away and really dug in, and I absolutely love it. Hard difficulty is where it’s at—really makes the combat more tactical and exciting. Definitely would like to see some tweaks (that fairy…), and I’m curious where the story will go (time-hopping to the… future please!) but I’m very excited to play this game. Now maybe we can all convince SE to put the whole game on a cart with that survey…

Re: Nintendo Download: 1st August (North America)

Would love to see that Ninja Gaiden review come in today… Word on the street (reddit) is that the game has issues on Switch 2 (shimmering and nonsense when scrolling) and is maybe a bit over 30fps, but not by much. Seems like Game Kitchen really dropped the ball with the Switch version, unfortunately…

Re: Animal Well Is Getting A Gorgeous New Physical From Lost In Cult

This game is a masterpiece, but $50 with tax and shipping for US customers is a bit pricey. If I could sell my LRG version first I’d go for it, but there’s a million of them on Ebay—lol I think scalpers overestimated the draw of this game! Anyways, rather have the final (Switch 2) build on the cart though! 🫤

Re: Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound Will "Average" 30fps On Switch

ear_wig

That is supremely disappointing, but not surprising, unfortunately. Switch is the de facto retro machine; 60fps should have been a priority for them. I’d just PS5 it, but these games just look better on a handheld, and the Portal-lag wouldn’t be acceptable for this type of game.
Bummer…

Re: Review: Savage Raven By Skull & Co. NeoGrip For Nintendo Switch 2 - Does The Job Very Nicely

ear_wig

I love this grip, but I would NOT recommend docking it with the grip on. 99% sure that’s where the vertical scratch on my screen came from—the ONE time I docked it with the grip on. The extra plastic makes it a little tight, and if there’s anything on your screen or something inside the dock that may cause a scratch… BOOM! Otherwise, highly recommend this grip!

PS: If the little piece falls out the lock, just stick it back in and you’re good to go!

Re: Talking Point: One Month On, How Did Nintendo's Switch 2 Launch Go?

ear_wig

Playing Tears of the Kingdom S2 edition has been a dream. Fantastic game that plays SO well on the new system. Regarding the system, I love the big screen—which looks great even if it’s not OLED—and the improved ergonomics of the Joy-Con 2 is greatly appreciated (loving my charge grip with back buttons!). They also really improved the eShop, which was a must do. Super jazzed for Donkey Kong Bananza and—hopefully very soon—Metroid Prime 4. Very happy overall!

On a side note, I was lucky enough to get a pre-order from Target (US). Now only a month later, Nintendo emails me with a chance to order a system. So selling my used console to a friend and getting a new one (without the unfortunate scratch…)! Pretty good launch situation!

Re: Digital Foundry Is "Happy" With Switch 2 But Feels The Screen Is "Problematic"

I haven’t noticed any blurring issues. Screen is solid to me, but I am certainly not an expert like these guys. I was worried about having to go back to LCD after the fantastic S1 OLED, but honestly, it hasn’t bothered me. I think if I was playing more games with lots of blacks—like horror games—I would be more bothered; I have my PS5 Pro for that though, so no worries. The bright Nintendo colors look great on the new screen, especially after adding a tempered glass screen protector. Love my Switch 2 so far! Tears of the Kingdom is magnificent! All good!

Re: Forget Switch 2 Game Key-Cards - "Full On-The-Cart Physical Releases" Are What People Want, Says Publisher Lost In Cult

ear_wig

@Yosher You nailed it completely. Worst of both worlds—you have to put a game card in to play your digital download, and there’s no actual game data present on the card for preservation purposes. Then of course the WORST part is that you then have to buy (overpriced) storage cards to build your library on, or delete and redownload as you play. BOO! Game-key cards suck eggs HARD, and I for one am glad that this conversation is continuing!

Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting Donkey Kong Bananza For Switch 2?

ear_wig

Preordered and can’t wait until July 17th!! Mario Kart World is a good slice of quick fun here and there, but this is the single player adventure that we’ve been waiting for!

In the mean time, enjoying the hell out of Tears of the Kingdom S2 edition; first ever play through—what a game!! 60fps baby!!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Hoping To See In The Donkey Kong Bananza Direct?

ear_wig

Each time I watch that original trailer, I become more and more sold on this game. It looks like a lot of fun, albeit casual fun, but fun nevertheless! So all I am really hoping for at this point is solid performance, and maybe a peek at some of the other things we get to do in the game besides smashing stuff. I am pretty much sold, though!
