Really enjoyed reading this thanks. I also agree with so much too. When I remember things like the reveal 3d mario, the no glasses 3d, the Wii, they bought so much innovation to the industry. Now we just get repetition of ideas, I particullary but blame to 'marketing', I have this imagination that games makers have a meeting and talk about this amazing idea they have, getting all excited. At that same time I imagine the marketing person looking at the boss and going NO NO NO. This is why I am a Nintendo fan, the others have just been pushing it looks better which is a bit boring to me.
@OldGamer999 You sound as old and cynical as me lol.
As a.n.other old gamer I am personally more bored of the repetition of ideas, you would have thought with all the first person shooter games we should have hit perfection by now.
Personally I am glad the upgrade is free because I fail to see the worth of the changes. I can see some clouds in the sky but otherwise I just don't get it. I'd be more pleased to think that the game is less likely to crash on me, because that has been an issue.
@rjejr I guess it just depends on wether parents take notice of the age rating for the game. In the Uk it's rated as 12, so you are right to say it should be classed as a game for teens. It's just the reality is that many very young children are playing it.
I beleive this man to be a legend for what games he has made over the years. But if he wants an ussauming life then I suggest he stops using himself so much to promote his games, drops the you tube channel, and maybe no books. Sounds like another one of those rich people who want it all but preferably on their terms.
@OldGamer999 to be fair, as I have only owned Nintendo consoles for quite a while it gives me a oppurtunity to play games that I have admired but not had the oppurtunity to play. But your right, they also seem to struggle to make new IP's or gameplay ideas. Regurgitaing the past seem to be the present.
@Yosher We both know mario is coming sooner rather than later. But I wonder if they have any fear of the Yoshi game getting called a movie tie in game, as there is not much respect for games of that nature.
Sorry to be that person, but you have written "within the Osaka-inspired Sotenbori" This should be Dotonbori
Edit. I have read that is what they call the area in the game!!!! sorry!
Great review thanks, not played Yakuzu before so have been thinking about getting this one.
I heard that the trailer was going to start showing before the new wicked film which had made me think my wife was going to be able to see the trailer before me. No she's not!!!
Totally disagree about this being in a direct, this is Nintendo giving the real fans a first look rather than the majority who will come across it in other ways. They are being clear on what the whole thing is about and I like the fact they are putting the importance in giving to the fans who follow this way first.
Call me old, but I just don't understand how so much money gets spent on a game that is free! In my experience - Fortnite - played for 100's of hours - never paid a penny Magikarp Jump - played for hours - never paid a penny Runescape - played for 1000's of hours - never paid a penny Clash Royale - played for 9 years - never paid a penny (the list is longer but you get my point)
I have sent years abusing these free games, even to the extent of thinking that I should contribute to some extent. But no, if these companies want to make things free and rely on selling additions to the games then that is up to them. I would be happy to pay for these games if they were sold differently, but that would make me consider if I would buy ot not. So long may it carry on with this business model because I love it!
@Lizuka I am just not a fan of the Kickstarter model. It doesn't sit well with me that they put consumers money at risk, especially without any benefit. I respect the reasons you mentioned but the makers and financers will all be doing it for possible returns.
@Anti-Matter Hi Anti, Sorry to be someone that corrects people this way. But I noticed you used the word 'lamented' well, but at the end of the sentence you wrote 'that their console didn't sold well. This should be 'that their console didn't sell well.
I must say your english is very good in general, and if you feel I am just being fussy then please ignore the comment.
@iLikeUrAttitude Thank you for the reply. It has always looked like something I would enjoy but for some reason never tried any of the games. I will be getting metroid but should be finished with that just in time to try this.
I have never tried the Dragon quest series and not read much about them either. But I have heard good things about the games, and have enjoyed Square Enix games in the past. Will I feel lost starting at number 7?
@gcunit You have dissapointed me that you haven't already!!!
If they are increasing production to keep up with sales then you might be waiting a while. They also just released that legends pack which didn't get a fancy console. You best be hoping their is a new mario and Zelda coming soon, you might have more chance there.
From the very begining of Microsoft buying Rare it was obvious things were never going to be the same. Quite surprised this person lasted as long as they did because most of the others shipped out a long time ago. He must have been paid well.
@Darthmoogle Hi, Sorry not been on in a few days. So much to mention! My first suggestion would be good preparation, and deciding on the areas you would like to go and then seeing what else that maybe intersts there. For instance we like to get up high to look over the city, this can be done from several places in Tokyo so maybe you can dual that with other things in the same area. Saves time on travelling. For instance one of the high buildings we liked was the goverment buiding, this is free to go to the top and was located quite near the Meiji shrine, and also near Shinjuku which is an area I would recomend too. Hopefully you can get the most from the time that you have this way. We also stayed near the the Skytree Tower, this is an amazing sight from the ground, we didn't get to go up that one (windy day), but can't imagine it is dissapointing. Also the skytree shopping centre was great, lots of exclusive shops, Kitby Cafe / Pokemon Centre / Marvel Shop / Snoopy shop / etc. There is also another high building you can go up at the Shibuya Crossing, you get an elevated view of the crossing from this one. As far as areas of Tokyo we really enjoyed, these would be Shibuya and Shinjuku, lots to do in both of these areas. We also liked Ueno Park area, and the Zoo, it really felt like we were part of Japanese life here. Seeing people enjoying the park in different ways felt more Japanese than some of the hussle and bussle of city life. We also stayed in the Ginza district, if you would like to visit the top fashion stores lots of them are here, also the shopping centre underneath the Train Staion here is very good. This where we found a few 'pop up shops' these were really fun, worth looking out to see if any are going to around for when you visit. One place we did miss out on was the Robot Cafe in Shibuya, you need to book before you go and we didn't realise. Don't worry about phoning them their English was very good.
We didn't go to Kyoto on this visit, only on a previous visit 15 years ago, so can't add as much here. Althougth beleive it or not the train station here is one of my favourite buildings in the world. I imagine you will be visiting the Geisha district, i beleive this has got more comercialised lately but I am sure it's well worth a visit. And Hakone is beautiful too, get that camera ready!!!
I would also mention that we travelled with a 12 year old and was not part of a tour. We found it (pretty) easy to get do everything we wanted, tubes in Tokyo, Bullet Train rides to Osaka, Day trip to Hakone / left baggage in Tokyo station storage for three days to visit Osaka. I am not saying you will find an English speaking person whereever you go, but we always managed to get by.
And my 'Best bit' from my time in Japan, the people. The world could learn alot from them!
@Darthmoogle Congratalutions for your forthcoming wedding, and more importantly for your trip to Japan, enjoy!
We visitied Japan last year and there were a few things we had to book before we went, like the Kirby Cafe and the Pokemon Cafe. I wouldn't suggest it was easy but I wouldn't say it was too hard either. Good luck
I love lots of the merchandise that Bandai produce, I have many of the splatoon weapons that look to be a very similar style to these. They are well made and can be used for display if you wanted.
They also had a stall at EGX last year, they stole some of my money on Kirby figures there!!¬ I am hoping they are going to be there for this years show next month.

This is down to goverments that should be setting regulation to protect consumers. The article even mentioned that lobbying groups are trying to force the hand of games makers, and games makers saying things about it. That is no good, it needs to be regulated from taking both sides of the argument into account and deciding something that can work for all. The fact that it hasn't been done already is not down to the games makers, they should have already been forced into a standard set on them.

@AllBLK Why would you call people names who disagree with you? Do you think that will change there optinion to aline with yours. Why do feel it neccesary to change other peoples opinion?
I will continue to spend far too much money with Nintendo than I really should. In fact would it make you happy to know I flew all the way to Japan so I could spend even more of my money with them!!!!!!!
@electrolite77 I agree the switch does seem to have learned that lesson. But when it comes to the AAA titles they have not made it easy enough to port them from one to another, we seem to be in the same place as a few systems ago! @Jeronan I think Nintendo prefers a closed system that doesn't allow that/ @SBandy1 Nintendo have always been catching up with the other in certain regards. But I have often felt that Nintendo does not do enough to make their systems run alongside the others. It seems to me that if you make a game for sony and then want to put it on Xbox it doesn't take much. Whereas to transfer that to a Nintendo system it never seems to be that easy.
It seems that Nintendo has left itself on the side shelf again by not making a sytem that easily codes with others. This will hamper the output that the switch gets from third parties. Very similar to some of the previous consoles really. I don't think Nintendo care too much, if you want your game on their system then you play there game. Lets face it it's there own games that sell their consoles, not third parties.

@rjejr I guess it just depends on wether parents take notice of the age rating for the game. In the Uk it's rated as 12, so you are right to say it should be classed as a game for teens. It's just the reality is that many very young children are playing it.
