Thanks for some amazing memories E3. The biggest loss here is the pressure it put on games makers to make their games memorable. But the world is a changing place and the format isn't needed anymore. As long and we get directs, and whatever ever the other companies call them then will be fine as consumers.
I really dislike the way they are treating splatoon 3 like its a live service game. It's a full price game and I seem to remember a much shorter timeframe for release of new content for the previous versions.
Maybe I wouldn't have been so quick to stop playing this if all this content was released differently.
I would make the game more like the original and less like the newer versions. I find them too floaty and the rubber banding a massive issue, also take out the customisation on the vehicles, just keep it to the characters.
But a pretty similar game to all the previous one's with a little gimmick on the side, as per usual.
@IceEarthGuard Hi, I think in a perfect world you may be correct, but I imagine a marketing department doing sums in order to see what to attach themselves to in order to steel some of that market from someone else. Then popping out to another department to ask them to make a switch, to which they will answer 'but we can't do that because of patent's'. 'Bah!, don't worry about that get a solicitor he tell you how we can get round that'. Then a short while later in a sales meeting 'sales numbers are dwindling, what are we going to do?', replied with 'just copy the switch thing again, get an oled screen. To which they all pat themselves on the back for that great innovation! Overall I would like to see real innovations and expect more from companies. But I am a cynical old git, and nintendo fanboy so a very blurred opinion. I also thought of your analogy on laptops, couldn't help but think that was different market, but I certainly could see your point.
@CaptainCluck What are you referring to the devise that Sony bought in for competition of the handheld gaming market. I think the switch has enough unique ideas to separate itself from that device.
But if you don't think the deck is not following a similar pattern to the switch then that is your opinion and I respect that. I have stated that I think they have, I am not trying to change your opinion or push mine in your face.
@Bratwurst35 Pretty much everything is a copy of something. All companies can use each other ideas to create their own market, in their own way. Unlike steam deck that is following the same pattern as the switch. IN MY OPINION
@CaptainCluck I know they didn't invent those things, however they did mainstream them into the gaming market. So another big company copying ideas just shows a major lack of innovation on their part.
How pathetic is this, I kept quiet when they just copied the idea of the switch, but now they are just blatantly copying Nintendo. They are painting themselves like some Chinese fake company that has no ideas of it's own. They should be embarrassed
I love and hate games that fund themselves with sales of skins etc. I never change the appearance even if it's free I wouldn't, unless there is beneficial reason to change then I never do. So games of this nature are free for me, I have never paid a penny to play many hours of Fortnite. My issue is that they do those manipulative practises to my child which I think stinks. For adults I feel the buyer should always be aware of what they are getting into, and in most part responsible for their own actions. But that is not the case for children which is often the area that they push this the hardest.
@LXP8 Obviously I am pleased for you and others that want this game. Still surprised they decided to remake this one, but I imagine they will remake all them before the end of time.
I would definitely watch the film, but I really am not looking forward to the, he can't direct, that voice is wrong, wrong actor, wrong actress, it should be this way etc. etc. etc.
@LXP8 I found the story dull and the puzzles unimaginative, add it lost a point as I was virtually forced to play due to poor release games at the time. Do you really think it was good enough to be remade?
Another code - barely average DS game Thousand year door - highly overrated Luigi Mansion 2 - Remake Mario v DK - Remake
The other two can't really be judged yet, but one of them is still at TBA. This looks to me like a list that could easily run concurrently with a release of a new console, or at least at the same time as an announced new console.
@FishyS I think the xbox community that Phil is referring to is the enforced account creation in order to be able to actual use the thing that you have bought from them.
Definitely Sunshine for me, some of the levels were almost impossible because of the camera and control. Unlike Lost Levels where I relished the challenge and got great satisfaction from completing.
I will never understand many peoples logic regarding ownership and how they feel that something that is popular loses that. To bring it down a few levels, if I woke up this morning and found someone started selling stuff from my back garden then I have an issue with that, and even if I did decide that they could then I would have rules.
@SoIDecidedTo Thanks, we are taking our 11yr old son, hoping to show him what a big world we all live in. It has taken a long time to save the money but plan to make it a memorable trip.
@Yojimbo Thank you for your comment. Unfortunately our schedule is pretty worked out and what with the fact we have already been to Kyoto, and plan to visit so many Nintendo places already, I just don't think I can justify it! You work in a great place, we loved it! especially the Geisha district and train station.
I am a little gutted to read about this, I am booked to go to Tokyo and Osaka in February and of course I will be visiting Universal, lots of pokemon centres and the Osaka and Tokyo Nintendo Stores. But not this one, AHHH!!!
@Jiggies I've never been very good at 'you should know better'.
@Bobb Definitely, in all the places I have worked there has never been a chance of being in a union, and the mining strike was not pretty from my memory. But I always appreciate all opinions, it's what makes us all individuals.

Re: Feature: Nintendo Switch Year In Review 2023 - Our Most Played Games
I never tell my wife about these stats -
1400 hours in total
Fortnite was the winner this year with 1000 hours.
I also must admit I play off two profiles so this does not cover all of the gaming I do lol!
Re: Soapbox: If You're Not Playing LEGO Fortnite, You're Missing One Of The Best Survival Games
Totally agree with everything in this article, and I also recommend people give it a try too.

Re: Oh Dear, Contra: Operation Galuga's Physical Edition Is A Download Code In A Box
@Shade_Koopa Be careful what you wish for, because it's not exactly a digital future we are moving towards, it's more of a cloud based future!
Re: Soapbox: 20 Years Later, Why Do We Still Not Have A New Sonic Battle?
Personally I really liked Match Fishing on the spectrum, still waiting for new version of that. Maybe I should do an article online....

The only reason I have ever owned a non-nintendo console was so I could play Rockstar games. I wouldn't do that now.

Not fussed about bayonetta or okami but I'd be all over another viewtiful joe.
Re: Talking Point: Which Zelda Game Should Be Adapted For The Movie?
Really not difficult here, get baddy to kidnap a princess and get a hero to rescue her. Job done
And if they can make that scene from ocarina when link looks through the window at Zelda and Gannon then that'll sell it to me.

@HeadPirate I love your way of thinking, in using companies who benefit you the most, at the time it suits them too.
Now, more than ever, everybody should do this. Like you say corporations are not here for us, unless it benefits them. Do the same back to them.
Re: Nintendo Reconfirms Release Windows For Major Upcoming Switch Games
I don't feel that excited by this list -
Another code - barely average DS game
Thousand year door - highly overrated
Luigi Mansion 2 - Remake

3+ rating!! That's shocking they have allowed that.
Otherwise I am all for games that give escapism of reality, I personally really enjoyed playing out things in GTA that obviously I wouldn't IRL.
