@nkarafo They love the hacking world so much is getting to one of the biggest choices of subject for them. They even provided a link for one on this story, called them a dataminer!
I wonder if it's partly due to the lack of news due to this being the end of the switch, hoping it will change.
@Pillowpants Thank you for replying, and apologies for being slow in replying. I'm not personally that interested in replaying the old games, and really don't have any appreciation of fan art which makes it easy for me to fall on Nintendo's side for those. I don't have any issues with people doing as they please in their own homes, but i do get the impression that people are often using the IP's in order to popularise themselves. In turn advertising their work and themselves to a wider audience, which leads to monetizing. I get the way you feel about music, it seems that Nintendo wants to hold the cards, but then it doesn't sell it to people. My ony guess is that they don't feel they would profit enough, business doesn't seem to care if their isn't enough money invovled nowadays. The same as the FOMO they seem to like to create over certain items, rather than selling more they seem to prefer to have an exclusitivity with things.
I am pretty much always happy to accept whatever Nintendo do (I know, I know) and find it easy to accept the different directions that they take, even if they don't always suit me personally. I think people hold to high expectations and want things to be what they think and feel, it's no wonder marriages don't last as long now. Thanks again for the comment, I hope you have a great weekend.
@Pillowpants Do you think the things that you feel are wrong about nintendo are maybe inportant factors for their success? For instance their stance on protecting IP's, I feel this is vital for them to protect how they perceived in the world.
@AndyRogan I definitely copied a few games, but after a while they made that difficult. Also used to change the £2.99 price stickers for the £1.99 one's!! But I always knew what I was doing was illegal, and didn't go around shouting about it.
My comment is more poking at the expectation that because a game is old it is fair game to do as you wish.
Another day, another article of this nature. I wonder if it a generational thing because when I was younger there wasn't older games for me to claim as something I could just now have for free. I must try this down my local antique shop.
Is it just the state of the gaming world right now that we have to have so many articles about modding. It always come across to me like it's someone drawing some funny spectacles on the mona lisa.
I agree with others, this company has been in decline for years. Many years ago I couldn't walk past a Game/Gamestation without having a look, haven't been in much since they started making the place look like a pawn shop, full of phones and tech.
@ShaneReactions Is it really fair to call people selling old games scalpers, it's not like they have allowed demand to force people to buy them. More like you are paying for someone to store it for a few years, if corporate business priced based on storing it for years the rates would be through the roof.
Unfortunate but not surprising to me. This flat industry is just copying and pasting rehashed ideas and games. It needs another pandemic to push people interest, because what there churning out lately doesn't offer a great incentive.
@JohnnyMind Thank you for your response. I am in no way trying to attack your opinion. I just think the modding and hacking community use similar tools to do what they want. A bit like if I made a universal car key to help all the people that get locked out of their car. So because I don't hold any interest in modding I feel we would be better with neither.
@kr0n0tu I do not want there to be any change in the law to take away people's right to do what they like with the product they have purchased. But there are laws in what you can do with what you can do with it when you have modded it. And please do not use that preservation argument, what gives anyone the right to preserve something because they think it should be? In that case we should all have a copy of every game ever made.
@lazyboyblue Nah your wrong. If you think those number crunchers you mention don't look at all the costs when factoring for the 'amount they can get away with' charging then you are underestimating them.
I am personally always very happy to play the free part of any good live service games. Played Fortnite for hours and never paid a single penny, SUCKERS!!!
@Ogbert I agree with you and never stated that this is an all people thing.
But I do feel that we all dog on the big companies and CEO's but if you gave the opportunity to all people in society then a far too big percentage would take them up on it and act in exactly the same way.
@LadyCharlie I feel you will get burnt in life thinking that all the little companies are just great people and are completely fair to customers and the planet. And I also think you'll find that there are lots of them that are wannabe big time CEO's who haven't got there yet. Small companies just have an easier opportunity at making themselves look better.
I feel this is the slow process of all out digital from microsoft, I believe that you will only buy controllers in the future. They will connect to any devise which will stream the games. Not too sure what point we are in that but looks like we will hear something from them this week.
@PessitheMystic I guess it's obvious they are happy to support this man, and what he's doing. They love a good modding story, they were lauding a mod on a game that hasn't even been released today. They also do 'double standard too, because they are happy to cancel things if they have a personal issue, like the failing to review the Harry Potter game.

Keep up the emulating people, we need to thin out more staff and studios in the industry.
