"Total lifetime sales for the Nintendo GameCube in the United Kingdom are estimated at approximately 1.15 million units, based on industry tracking data."
Quick question for everyone. Have you noticed the quality of the paper cover in terms of glossiness and thickness isn't as good on recent physical games. 😬
This could just be for Star Fox and Splatoon Raiders (so Nintendo published titles) but it is definitely not as good quality as Resident Evil Requiem for example. Or that of my only physical Switch 1 game left (TMNT Cowabunga Collection).
Yes it is because of the new battery laws in Europe but hopefully they'll discontinue the Switch 1 everywhere else in 2028 or when the Switch 2 lite (heavy) comes along.
They can still make Switch 1 games of course with Switch 2 editions to please the Switch 1 community who haven't upgraded to Switch 2.
"Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite, and Nintendo Switch – OLED Model will all continue to be manufactured in 2026, and should be widely available in Europe all year.
From mid-February 2027, almost ten years after Nintendo Switch launched in March 2017, Nintendo will no longer sell to retailers hardware in the Nintendo Switch family of systems – specifically Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite and Nintendo Switch – OLED Model. Sales of Nintendo Switch hardware on Nintendo Store will also end in mid-February 2027.
Regarding availability at retail, please check with your local retailers in the future for more information."
GKC are absolutely fine because I sell my games on but also because I simply don't have time to replay older games numerous times for the rest of my life like the physical collectors on here seem to have.
But yup, code in a box is the worst. People are saying that an actual proper physical disc(s) version will be coming out eventually and this is simply to stop leaks before release.
This website is pretty much targeted at USA fans these days. It certainly wasn't when I started reading it about 15 years ago.
For UK people. Yoshi is £49.99, Star Fox is £41.99 and Splatoon is £41.99 physical from Amazon UK or just a quid more at other popular online stores.
As for the price of Pokémon it is simply a placeholder price. No point pre-ordering something that hasn't even got an official release date (ETA October 2027 ish).
Seeing it with my bestie at midday tomorrow. Using Meerkat movies so only £3 each at my local VUE. Kids don't break up for Easter Holidays until Thursday so I can enjoy it whilst it isn't too busy.
Gonna pick up a couple of Yoshi popcorn buckets too. 😊

Re: Virtual Boy Cardboard Model Gets A Limited-Time Discount In Select Locations
The cardboard headset is very cheap. Not sure why people think it is expensive considering it is the price of a decent take away in the UK.
I even split the cost with my friends like I did with the family NSO subscription.
I do think the VB app will eventually get a 2D option though. But knowing Nintendo they'll hold it back for the Switch 3.
Re: Every Splatoon Game, Ranked
Although Raiders is great it is definitely Splatoon 3's delayed full story dlc that we didn't get at the time.
Going forward we'll never get decent dlc again for Splatoon 4 and above as there will be a Raiders 2 and so on.
I'd say that Splatoon 2 along with it's dlc is the best full splatoon game overall.
Re: Virtual Boy Cardboard Model Gets A Limited-Time Discount In Select Locations
The important bit is they've just restocked the snes pads there.
So expect a no doubt final restock in the UK soon.
Re: Switch 2 Has Reportedly Already Surpassed GameCube's UK Sales
@Gamecuber
I didn't as I bought a modded Japanese one and got all my games from Canada (from dvdboxoffice) to the UK.
A great little console. Hoping Nintendo add more to NSO soon. 😊
Re: The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Switch 2 Rating Surfaces Online
Not sure why people think Nintendo should avoid GTA release month.
Can't see either games affecting each others sales overall.
Gamestop apparently leaked that preorders open next week for Zelda so maybe we are getting the full reveal trailer/direct very soon.
Re: Switch 2 Has Reportedly Already Surpassed GameCube's UK Sales
A quick google for the UK number...
"Total lifetime sales for the Nintendo GameCube in the United Kingdom are estimated at approximately 1.15 million units, based on industry tracking data."

Re: The Duskbloods Network Test Sign Up Dates, Times & How To Join
Signed up. 😊
"This comment is too short".
Re: Ball X Pit Is Rolling Out Its "Final Free Update" Soon
The Free Trial in the UK a few months back was really good. Put 25 hours in that week as the game was very addictive and fun.
My mate ended up buying it as he didn't complete it in time so I'll borrow it from him virtually once the upgrade is out. 😊
Re: Latest Physical Sales Data Proves The Format Is, In Fact, Dying
Using UK data isn't really a true reflection of what is happening globally though in terms of physical sales for Nintendo Switch 1 and 2 games.
However, I always buy physical if the option is there but do not to collect them.
Selling them on after completion helps pay for the next one and so on.
Re: Poll: How Would You Rate Nintendo's Switch Online Offering In 2026?
I'd love to see them adding game manuals to the service.
Also add the Master System too.
A new usb version of the NES pad would be great if it gets a UK release.
Re: Opinion: Nintendo Gains A Rep Boost As Sony & Microsoft Lay Waste To The Industry
Even if Switch 3 games become digital only it will have a cartridge slot for Switch 1 and 2 games.
They will have to vastly improve the storage included in the hardware though.
However, if physical sales are still strong for Switch 2 by 2031 Nintendo will most likely still support it on Switch 3.
Re: Rumour: Nintendo Is Reportedly Considering A Switch 2 OLED Model
Where's the Switch 2 Lite rumour? 😁
Surely that will be out long before the OLED full fat version. Most likely with next years Pokémon release.
Re: Yoshi's New Switch 2 Game Is Getting A Demo On The Nintendo eShop
It's a great game. Put 65 hours into it to get 100% before selling it on. Not bad for £8. 😊
Still hoping for Woolly World to ported to Switch 1/2.
Re: Nintendo Will Stop Selling The Original Switch From February 2027
They won't change the headline so they get clicks. It's the same on the Facebook page and every site is doing it.
Can someone contact Nintendo to ask if there are any plans to redesign the nes pad at least (without the rail so it charges via usb) for Europe?
Or is it simply not possible to squeeze a replaceable battery in it (and the snes one) without losing the original form of the controller?
Re: Nintendo Will Stop Selling The Original Switch From February 2027
This is good. 10 years is a good run.
But they do need to let it go eventually.
Re: Switch 2 Hardware Revision With Replaceable Battery Coming Later This Year In Europe
You missed the most important bit.
Bye Bye Switch 1 in Europe.
"Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite, and Nintendo Switch – OLED Model will all continue to be manufactured in 2026, and should be widely available in Europe all year.

Re: Nintendo May Be The Last Bastion Of Physical Games As Xbox's Project Helix Is Set To Ditch Discs
Well, if the Switch 3 or 4 becomes Nintendo's first digital only console that is fine. I won't give up on my hobby of 35 years easily.
But, I might wait for a sale for every big release that I'd normally get on cartridge day one if they still do their 33% off sales.
As for Xbox and PlayStation I don't care as I only buy Nintendo anyway.
Poor CEX though 🤣.
Re: Talking Point: As Sony Bins Physical, How Long Until Nintendo Follows Suit?
Nintendo might follow suit eventually but Switch 3 in 2034 might be too soon to go fully digital.
Unless they have a cartridge slot for Switch 1 and 2 games included by design of course.
Re: Yoshi's Page-Turning Switch 2 Adventure Debuts In "Top 10 Best-Selling Games" For May 2026 (US)
It's a great game. Put 65 hours into it. I enjoyed it much more than Crafted World.
Sold it now so was a bargain for £8 😊
Still hoping for a Woolly World on Switch too.

Re: Here Are The "Top 200" Best-Selling Nintendo 64 Games In The US
Although I'm in the UK I got the USA version of the N64 to have full screen games that ran at the correct speed.
Great to see the list and that I had the top 12 games and a further 26 on the list.
Beetle Adventure Racing is one that I'd love to see on NSO. Shame Silicon Valley doesn't appear though.
Re: Splatoon Raiders Nintendo Direct June 2026: Time, Date, How To Watch
Already pre-ordered but i always find it amusing that people would need a guide like this for a direct.
How to watch? If you are unsure and have to read this article in full then there really is no hope for the human race.
Re: Switch Online's June Game Trial Kicks Off With EA Sports FC 26
Downloaded on Thursday. Started game for 1 second. Closed game. Deleted Game. 100 points added.
Repeated with Switch 1 version.
Re: New Switch 2 Bundle Announced For Europe
@Lord
We won't see them for a few years. Especially with the new European version coming where you can remove the battery easily.
Re: Poll: Will You Be Replaying Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Before The Remake Arrives?
I've not played it since 1998.
So I'm looking forward to the remake.
Re: Talking Point: Starter Pack - What Are Your Nintendo Switch 2 Essentials?
Pro Controller 2 is essential as I only play docked.
The dpad is still useless though for NES/SNES/classic games.
Luckily I use my snes controller for them.
Re: Talking Point: Switch 2 Console Special Editions - What Would You Like To See?
I can't see them doing any special editions for a few years.
Once they stop making the Switch 1 standard maybe, which they should really do sooner rather than later.
Re: Japanese Charts: Switch Sales Plummet As Price Increase Comes Into Play
They should discontinue the original Switch model now anyway. Then the lite once the Switch 2 Lite comes out.
The numbers will probably be like waves going forward as people save up for it.

Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting Yoshi And The Mysterious Book For Switch 2?
Pre-ordered physical for £49.99.
Not expecting it to be brilliant. But looks like a fun but no doubt short game.
Re: PSA: LEGO Is Officially Retiring Its First Zelda Set, Get It Before It's Gone
Lego is overpriced but the set does look nice so get it while you can. Remember to keep the box as it will retain its value.
I don't collect lego but I'm still glad I got the Ghostbusters Firehouse and Ecto-1.
Nostalgia overload 😁
Re: Nintendo Reconfirms Release Windows For Major Upcoming Switch 2 Games
Plenty to keep me busy til September.
I'm expecting a big MKW free dlc drop around the first anniversary along with the paid dlc release announcement.
They'll potentially drop more GC games then too.
Looking forward to seeing what they announce for September onwards...
Buy a Switch 2 people. Trade in your old Switch 1 to help pay for it if needed before the price increase.
Re: Dive Into The Pages Of Yoshi And The Mysterious Book In This New Overview Trailer
Not watched the trailer to not spoil any creatures until I play the game.
Guessing it'll be quite a short game but as I sell mine upon completion it's not too bad.
Re: Feature: Our Top Ten Favourite Easter Eggs In The Super Mario Galaxy Movie
@JackieCMarlow
Don't worry, NintendoLife articles will be written by AI soon too. Most of the comments as well.
Re: Feature: Our Top Ten Favourite Easter Eggs In The Super Mario Galaxy Movie
I thought the giant goombas were another Super Mario Bros 3 reference (world 4).
Did you spot Samus' Ship?
Re: Random: Jack Black Jokingly Suggests A Third Mario Movie Will Arrive In 2029
2029 is highly likely though.
Perfect time to introduce Wario and WaLuigi. Odyssey a possibility as they need to build something to allow them to visit Rosalina easily.
Apart from King Boo have we seen normal boo's yet? Luigi's Mansion spin off is a must too (hopefully not just that reference in the 1st film).
Re: Movie Review: The Super Mario Galaxy Movie - A Faithful But Overstuffed Sequel
I thought it was great.
Re: Gallery: We Weren't Prepared For The Sheer Size Of Yoshi's Popcorn Bucket
It's a great piece of merchandise but doesn't hold much popcorn.
The Lumas looked good too, especially as my VUE had lit them up inside with LEDs.
No budget or space for them though.
Re: Nintendo Will Be "Absolutely Furious" About Latest Leaks, Says Former PR Manager
The OOT remake rumour has been a thing for a few years now. One reason why i haven't played the n64 version on the expansion pak yet.
Re: So, Will you Be Watching The Super Mario Galaxy Movie?
Seeing it with my bestie at midday tomorrow. Using Meerkat movies so only £3 each at my local VUE. Kids don't break up for Easter Holidays until Thursday so I can enjoy it whilst it isn't too busy.
Gonna pick up a couple of Yoshi popcorn buckets too. 😊
Re: Mario Kart World Has Been Updated To Version 1.6.0, Here Are The Full Patch Notes
Looking forward to the 2.0 update in June for it's 1st Anniversary. 😬
Re: PSA: Switch 2's "GameChat Welcome Offer" Ends This Month, Try It Out For Free While You Still Can
I'll use it on Splatoon 4 I guess.
Re: PS5 Gets An Insane Price Increase – Will Nintendo Follow Suit?
Well they did sell the PS5 with £100 discount at most retailers in the UK at Christmas. So gotta make that money back now. 🤣
Nintendo should hold the Switch 2 price but increase the Switch 1 price. Might make more jump on board.
They should retire the Switch 1 standard version at some point soon though.
Re: Rumour: Nintendo's 2026 Plans Include New Star Fox & Zelda Remake, No 3D Mario
If true I'll happily take Star Fox and OOT this year. If they delay Mario to 2027 that is fine too.
Re: Fox McCloud Blasts Into The Super Mario Galaxy Movie
@N00BiSH Or just a Star Fox movie.
Wonder if Samus' ship will fly past in a scene too.
Re: Fox McCloud Blasts Into The Super Mario Galaxy Movie
Thanks for the spoiler.
All for clicks I guess.
Are you going to give away the whole plot in detail on Wednesday then straight after you have seen it? Or have you not got your tickets yet?
I'm glad I'm able to watch it on the 1st in the morning.
Re: Sonic The Hedgehog 4's Full Movie Cast List Has Been Revealed
I hope Jim Carrey still looks like Jim Carrey and not the clone that was at that recent awards ceremony in spain. 👀😬
Re: Nintendo Shows Off Icon Design Proposals For Switch 2's 'C' Button
I still haven't got round to using it. Maybe when Splatoon 4 is out.
Re: Yoshi Popcorn Bucket Announced For The Super Mario Galaxy Movie
For UK peeps. It is £20 and available at VUE from 1/4. No popcorn purchase necessary.
For Odeon you can pre-order from 17/3 but has to be done as a combo with Popcorn and Drink. (So most likely £40 🤣).
