Re: Guide: How To Fix A Drifting Nintendo Switch Pro Controller

dazzleshell

Can we have a follow up on one of the major issues of the Pro-Controller...

The D-Pad.

The other known issue where you can be pushing right to make your character go right then for some reason it goes up or even left. And vice versa if a different direction.

I did send both my controllers to be repaired. Both were bought in the first few months of the Switch launch. Both have the issue. Nintendo denied it is a problem and wanted to charge me £35 per controller to fix it.

Having never used the D-pad for a game until Zelda 2 on the Online Service. It only became apparent then so is not due to improper usage etc.

My only gripe with my Switch hardware. I don't have Joycon drift or other issues with Pro.

@the_beaver.

I wouldn't say Nintendo are being greedy. It just makes business sense and the money earnt will go back into developing more games and hardware.

I imagine we won't see a Switch Selects range til Switch 2 if it is backwards compatible. Although BOTW might get a reduction once the sequel is out.

And I'm not rich either. I buy stuff within budget which is what we all do, whether you use pocket money if you are a kid or have a job as an adult.

If it's an eshop game it has to be 60% or more off for me to buy it. For physical I usually save to get a game on release so the money covers the pre-order. I shop around to get the cheapest price. Then once finished I trade it in for cash.

For example I bought Luigi's Mansion 3 for £36 on release day. Sold it for £35 cash 2 weeks later. 30 hours playtime for £1 is a bargain.

But this is my opinion. Thanks for reading.

Re: The Legend Of Zelda Is Coming To Super Mario Maker 2

This is a great update. I still won't be getting the game though as only briefly played the first one on Wii U.

I wish Nintendo would show some love to Super Mario Party though as it is needing new content. But guess they are holding off any updates for a sequel instead.

Re: Talking Point: What's Happened To Switch's NES And SNES Games, Nintendo?

dazzleshell

Be nice if they drop some more in December or January but as I've only completed Super Mario World and StarFox so far there is plenty to keep me busy.

Recently finished Link's Awakening, Ghostbusters and Luigi's Mansion too and only just started Starlink (finally).

And remember it is only £17.99 a year you lovely people. No point comparing it to other subscription services when it is so cheap!

Like others I've had Smash Chrom for a while now as the UK Nintendo store sent me it early. I posted this in the Amiibo forum. Was hoping other 2 would follow suit but guess they will arrive on release day.

Will be happy once I get the final 2 normal fighters in January. Then will just be the dlc ones to go.

Re: A Revised Nintendo Switch Pro Controller Has Been Spotted In Stores

I have 2 launch day Pro-Controllers. Both have same issue with D-pads which I only discovered when playing Zelda 2 on the NES online service earlier this year. Basically, you end up changing direction when you press up sometimes. Or go up when pressing left or right. Great considering I'd never used the D-pad for any other games.

When I tried going up the vines in Mario 2 the game was pretty much unplayable as you'd veer off either left or right.

Sending them in to Nintendo for Repair they admitted they were both faulty but refused to take any responsibility for this being a design issue. So, I just got them returned. £34 per controller to fix a known issue was a bit much.

So now I use an 8bitdo SF30 for D-pad games.

Re: Poll: Have You Ever Had Problems With Nintendo Hardware?

dazzleshell

My wii u had issue with not enough power getting to it when switched on. Was launch model. Nintendo fixed it.

My 2 launch day pro controller dpads are still useless when playing certain games. Characters keep changing direction when up is pressed, either going right or left. Nintendo UK wants £34 per controller to fix them. They are still in denial about this known issue.

Re: Zelda: Link's Awakening Pre-Orders Updated With Extra Freebies On Nintendo UK Store

I recommend 'thegamecollection' too. Although you don't always get the game on release date. Yoshi arrived on a Saturday for example. But you get loyalty points you can use for money off a future order too.

Last month they did a 'Spend £80 get 10% off offer', not reported on this site though so I managed to pre-order Zelda for £36, Luigi for £36 and Ghostbusters for £21. I hope they do something similar in the future.

You get the ghost dog keyring with Luigi if anyone is after that.

Re: Astral Chain And Daemon X Machina Limited Editions Blast Onto The Nintendo UK Store

Yup nearly a week too late.

I do think when you post an article like this and then you find out it is sold out you should really just delete the article. As there's no real point in it being there.

Also might be worth all of the team signing up to the Nintendo Store email newsletters. So it can be posted on the day something is announced as being in stock. Or just the UK readers sign up to them.

Re: US Law Firm Opens "Switch Joy-Con Drift" Class Action Investigation

@Yorumi I bought 2 pro's at launch. Both have the dpad issue. For anyone who hasn't noticed just try going up a vine in Super Mario Bros 2. If you have the issue you'll soon drift to the left or right and fall off. Or try Zelda 1/2 on the map screen.

I sent 1 controller into Nintendo and they denied all responsibilty. Even though I have the issue on both controllers and made them aware of it. They wanted to charge me £34 per controller to fix it.

I just got them to return it
I bought an 8bitdo pro which I will use on future dpad games.

As for JoyCons I don't appear to have the issue although I haven't played using them or in handheld mode since Let's Go in November.
