Although I preferred TOTK story, for me BOTW was a much better experience as everything was fresh in 2017. I wasn't a fan of Ultrahand as I was ***** at building
I hope the next one is set somewhere other than Hyrule. I'd happily see the current characters of Zelda and Link remain the same though.
Hopefully, they started work on the next game long before TOTK was finished.
I'd give it a 6 or 7. I enjoyed the 6 hours of gameplay to play through 30 levels and 5 bosses, although I didn't go back to collect any gems I missed.
I'd still class it as a platformer with some unique elements thrown in.
Already sold the game on as I don't keep them these days. I don't think it is worth £40 though. I've gotten a lot more enjoyment out of other 2D and 3D Mario games at the same price.
If you don't 'collect' games I'd definitely recommend buying Peach on cartridge for Mario fans who sell their games on. It offers a good 6 hours of playtime.
I couldn't be bothered to go back to collect the Gems I'd missed though after completing the story.
Already sold my copy on eBay so after fees/postage it has cost me £2 which isn't bad at all. 🙂
It won't have sold out. Amazon UK do this all the time where an item vanishes then is back up a few days later. It'll be the same on the USA store.
And again, Thursday is the new release date in UK and a lot of other territories too. Surprised you haven't done an article to say UK pre orders have gone up £6 since your article last week too.
Well, if I played my Switch only portable I'd be more likely to buy digital so not to carry cartridges around with me as I'd be playing it outside my house.
As I only play the Switch on my TV I would never go fully digital unless there was no other option.
I no longer 'collect' games and sell my cartridges after I finish a game then the money goes towards another game. My friend can also borrow a game and vice versa if needed.
136 levels which do get tricky in places but my main gripe is the clunky controls. It's Mario but he doesn't move like Mario in this one. I haven't sworn at a game this much in years.
Not bothered about the the time attack bit so once my mate has borrowed it I'll be selling it on as I do with all my cartridges.
I've always thought early 2025 anyway. And MP4 as the final big first party release for Switch this October, especially if Switch 2 is backwards compatible.
I expect the first year of Switch 2 to follow a similar pattern to Switch. Mario 3D, Mario Kart 10, Splatoon 4 etc...
Not sure why it is classed as a delay when they have not announced it or its release date either.
I hope it is Switch 2 or Switch Two, especially if it is the same but next version of it... It needs to be clear to the mainstream audience what it is.
I'm still not sure it'll be out this year though. Tease just before Xmas, Big reveal in January. Release in March or April 2025.
In the past I was proud to have a collection. I always regretted selling my SNES collection in 1997 but that allowed me to buy a USA N64 and games going forward.
I had my USA N64 and USA GameCube and games since they were released but sitting in my loft for over 20 years.
After bringing them out of hibernation and still not playing them for a year I started selling them on eBay. £3K later I've only got 3 games from each system left.
As for Wii/Wii U I traded them in via CEX and Game depending on which store gave me the most at the time as didn't have as much nostalgia to keep them.
Once I started selling on eBay though, that is where my Switch games go for the best cash value.
I'm only holding on to MK8D and hope it will work on the Switch 2.
I'll trade my Switch in at CEX once I have the Switch 2 in case Nintendo make the transfer process awkward again.
I do wish CEX would clean things like they did during the pandemic, or I wish some of the mingers that trade stuff in would clean their stuff or keep it in good condition in the first place 🤢
A lot of people, myself included, bought the first one at full price. It then dropped down to 1/3 of its original price after a few months.
Learning from this and fact all Ubisoft games now follow this pattern I picked up Sparks of Hope for £15 before Christmas.
Ubisoft are in denial to the real reason Why. A bit like Disney not figuring out the majority of people now wait for their movie offerings to land on Disney+ nowadays.
We really need to see the charts for around the world rather than always focusing on Japan now.
I wish Nintendo would also start releasing digital sales figures too so we can see the real global picture.
I bet behind the scenes they are hoping the Switch 2 or it's successor (with a not too off-putting gimmick) really captures everyone's gaming hearts again.
Where do you buy your physical games from in the UK to take them back for a full refund after you've opened them (removed the shrink wrap) and completed them within 30 days?
This is news to everyone in the UK. Please share your wisdom 🤣
I put 280 hours into TOTK. Pikmin 4, 45 hours. Mario Wonder 25 hours.
All finished and since sold so no going back for me. A good 7 months of Gaming.
But a sense of wonder was definitely from BOTW as that was completely new and, although TOTK had the better story, BOTW was a better experience for me.
Hyrule Warriors: The Imprisoning War will no doubt be next.
But I wouldn't mind the next Zelda to be a continuation. But have it set some 20 years later with parts of Hyrule rebuilt properly at the start then have the adventure move to new lands outside of Hyrule.
Already pre-ordered but I'm not expecting anything really revolutionary as it is still just New Super Mario Bros with extra power ups and stage changing shenanigans.
I don't collect games anymore though so once I complete it I will sell it on. Hopefully it will have more than 10 hours of gameplay this time round.
If we are talking launch window we'll no doubt get a 3D Mario on launch day, Mario Kart 10 month 2, Splatoon 4 month 3 then Metroid Prime 4 a few months later.
All depends on the release date of the console though to how staggered these are.
I slightly spoiled the story reveal as I was looking up in the sky, saw a new dragon high up, and got it's name as I'd opened the camera to take a photo of it.
But I found the Master Sword by doing the Tears Quest and catching up with the Dragon straight after.
Then did the deku tree later so the Sword Quest completed upon saving him.
I do wonder if the game was originally going to be called Tears of the Dragon before they settled on Kingdom?
I'm 205 hours in and yet to go fight the final boss though. Still a few things to do.
Definitely get the feeling this is the final year of the Switch now.
Glad I've still got many hours to go in TOTK and I'm already going to get Pikmin 4 and have the MK booster pack.
2D Mario is really just a slight update from New Super Mario Bros and looked like one of those run games on some of the levels. Will see when they show more but will be another 6 hour game.
Pretty much everything was a filler just to get them to the next system that will have a stellar first year like the Switch. Unless they blow it and announce a new gimmick instead of a Switch 2.

Re: Soapbox: Sony's Insane PS5 Pro Price Highlights The Delicate Balance Nintendo Must Strike With 'Switch 2'
I see the Switch 2 being priced at £350 to £400 max. I still can't see it being officially announced til February with a May 2025 release date.
I expect Metroid Prime 4 to be out in March 2025.
As for PS5 Pro it is expensive but will have a small audience until the next GTA game comes out which will improve sales.
Re: The Legend Of Zelda '80s Cartoon Series Gets DVD Re-Release
I already own Zelda, all Mario and Captain N on dvd. They came out in the noughties on Region 1 dvd.
Re: Nintendo Is Expanding Switch Online's NES Library With Another Classic
Somehow, Tetris returned...
Re: Talking Point: Will The Switch Ever Get A 'Nintendo Selects' Range?
Most likely no. There's no need. Especially if the Switch successor is backwards compatible with Switch cartridges and digital games.
They won't want to be in a situation like ubisoft where a large majority now wait for the inevitable price reduction.
Re: Poll: Are You Ready To Move On From The Switch?
I'm ready but I can't see the successor coming out til at least May 2025 now.
Full announcement February 2025.
MP4 on Switch March 2025.
Re: Poll: Is $60 Too Much For Nintendo's Switch Re-Releases?
Guess this poll isn't for me as I'm in the UK.
But for Paper Mario TTYD I'd say yes. However I do sell my games on after I complete them so it'll end up costing me less than £10 overall.
Re: Nintendo Will Continue To Support Physical Media And "Maximise" All Software Sales
This is good news as I buy, complete and sell on games. It'll keep CEX open too. 🤣
Re: Talking Point: Will Nintendo Wring One More Holiday From Switch Before Revealing New Hardware?
We might get a teaser after Black Friday in November, but full reveal in January and a March 2025 release.
It'll definitely play Switch 1 physical/digital games though.
Switch 1 will get a 2 games bundle offer to sell as much remaining stock at Xmas.
Re: Poll: So, Do You Prefer Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Or Tears Of The Kingdom?

I'd give it a 6 or 7.

Re: Nintendo's Museum Apparently Won't Be Finished In March
At least this one will be an official delay unlike the Switch 2 which hasn't been announced yet. 😁
Re: Review: Princess Peach: Showtime! (Switch) - Peach Breaks A Leg In A High-Class Production
For those in the UK you can get it from shopto outlet on eBay for £36.68 using code FRESH20 at the moment.
Re: Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door Tops Amazon's 'Best-Sellers' Chart As Pre-Orders Sell Out (US)
It won't have sold out. Amazon UK do this all the time where an item vanishes then is back up a few days later. It'll be the same on the USA store.

Re: Random: Nintendo Has Supposedly Changed The Day Of Switch Game Releases
Same for the UK from April.
Re: Talking Point: What Would Make You Happy To Give Up Physical Games And Go 100% Digital?
@Quarbit

Re: Poll: So, Have You Finished Pokémon Legends: Arceus Yet?
I did finish it but it was a struggle. Was just bored of it by the end (30 hours). This is why I won't be buying any more Pokémon games.
I definitely preferred Let's Go Pikachu but that was more nostalgic for me.
Only cost me £2 though as I sold it once I'd had enough.
Re: Random: Some Rare Fans Are Upset About The Latest Switch Online Announcement
'Some Fans'... You mean all Rare fans who have only a Switch want it on Switch.
No doubt Nintendo asked Microsoft to not release a Nintendo Edition so they could drip feed them on the online service instead.
Microsoft still gets money, so do Nintendo so they both win. Unfortunately, we don't.
I'm not buying an xbox just for it though.
Re: Five More Classic Rareware Games Come To Nintendo Switch Online Today
For a few seconds I thought we were gonna get Rare Replay: Nintendo Edition.
Guess the reason we've never got it is that Nintendo needs to drip feed us the Rare stuff to help sell its online service.
Maybe we'll get it on the Switch 2 eventually. 🤣
Re: Talking Point: If 'Switch 2' Isn't Coming Until 2025, What's Nintendo Got Up Its Sleeve This Year?
I'd be happy with Prime 2 and 3.
I'd buy a Yoshi's Woolly World port too as never finished it on my Wii U.
Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Mario vs. Donkey Kong?
I'd give it a 7. Good but frustrating to play.

Re: Nintendo Showcases All 94 Smash Bros. Ultimate amiibo In New Graphic
I'm so glad it is over and my display is complete.
Expensive but a great representation of Nintendo games from the past.
Re: Poll: The Final Super Smash Bros. Ultimate amiibo Arrives This Week, Will You Be Getting It?
9 years later...
"It's the end, but the moment has been prepared for."
Re: Smash Bros. Ultimate's Final amiibo Seemingly Spotted In The Wild
Interesting that Switch isn't mentioned on the back of the box.
Card payment already taken so guess mine will arrive in time for the release date.
I'm so glad it is the end. 🙂
Re: Nintendo Will Offer "Unique Propositions" To Overcome Challenges Of Platform Transitions
I'll be selling my Switch once I know everything that can be transferred over has gone onto my Switch 2.
I have no time to play my old games again, even the eshop ones, as I already sell my cartridges once I've finished the game.
Roll on Nintendo's future delights in 2025.
Re: Random: It's Been 5 Years Since Metroid Prime 4 Was Rebooted
Well, It could be that this is the final big release for the Switch for October/November 2023.
The Switch 2, if it is backwards compatible will still be able to play it.
If it does get a launch this year I can see them announcing the Switch 2 in January 2025, with a release in March or April 2025.
If not then it'll become a Switch 2 title only.
Re: Best Super Smash Bros. Games Of All Time
I can see Nintendo doing Ultimate Deluxe for Switch 2 or whatever it is.
All dlc plus a few more characters and stages and bring back the missing single player elements and trophies. Job done.
Re: 8% Of Developers Are Apparently Working On Games For Switch's Successor
I hope it is Switch 2 or Switch Two, especially if it is the same but next version of it... It needs to be clear to the mainstream audience what it is.

Re: GAME Apparently Ending Physical Trade-Ins From Next Month (UK)
CEX will probably offer less for trade-ins as a result.
I can see Game going bust within a year or so though after this though. Always overpriced.

Re: Surprise! Smash Bros. Ultimate Sora amiibo Is Now Up For Pre-Order (UK)
I was waiting for the listing to go live for a few hours.
Finally my Smash Amiibo Collection is at an end just over 9 years later once I have it on my shelf. 🙂
Re: Soapbox: Six Months Later, Tears Of The Kingdom's Sense Of Wonder Is Still Unmatched
I put 280 hours into TOTK. Pikmin 4, 45 hours. Mario Wonder 25 hours.

Re: SNES Racer Series Top Gear Is Being Revived As A Switch Collection In 2024
The music takes me right back to 1992. I'll definitely be getting this.
Re: Talking Point: Along With Joy-Con Drift, What Does Nintendo Have To 'Fix' With 'Switch 2'?
I don't play portable so all I really want is for the new pro controller to have a decent d-pad. It has been awful since day one.
If the dock helps boost performance for TV mode then that would be great too.
Bigger joy cons with better grip if you do play handheld.
Re: Nintendo Reportedly Showed 'Switch 2' Demos To Developers At Gamescom
Showing developers stuff now won't equate to those developers suddenly having decent games ready in less than a years time.
I still expect it to release around May 2025 and potentially have an announcement end of 2024/ full reveal Jan 2025.
They'll need enough stock and enough software support for the first year.
Re: New Interview With Zelda Boss Suggests There Are No Plans For TOTK DLC
No need for dlc really...
Hyrule Warriors: The Imprisoning War will no doubt be next.
But I wouldn't mind the next Zelda to be a continuation. But have it set some 20 years later with parts of Hyrule rebuilt properly at the start then have the adventure move to new lands outside of Hyrule.
Re: Super Mario Bros. Wonder Nintendo Direct Announced For August 31st
Re: Random: Fan-Made 'The Legend Of Zelda' Movie Trailer Shows What Will Never Be
Being a Child of the 80's and knowing where all the clips came from this is a really lazy effort trailer in my opinion. 💩
Re: Talking Point: After Three Months, What's Your Zelda: TOTK Completion Percentage?
I didn't realise you could see a completion percentage on this one. I only noticed the 'star' next to my save.
I did 280 hours but have already sold the game.
I'll have to borrow my mates copy to check at some point just like I planned if they announce dlc for 2024.
Re: Talking Point: Which Nintendo IP Should 'Switch 2' Launch With?
If we are talking launch window we'll no doubt get a 3D Mario on launch day, Mario Kart 10 month 2, Splatoon 4 month 3 then Metroid Prime 4 a few months later.
All depends on the release date of the console though to how staggered these are.

Re: PSA: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom News Channel Giving Out Free In-Game Items
Still better than what you got for collecting all the Koroks in BOTW.
DLC is coming but probably at the end of the year to allow more people to finish the game fully with glitches or not.
Re: Poll: What Did You Think Of Today's Nintendo Direct?
I thought it was sh*te.
Re: More Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom amiibo Are On The Way
They'll announce the dlc later in the year to not spoil the story.
Also expecting Hyrule Warriors: The Imprisoning War next year.
Re: Splatoon 3 Is Getting A New Splatfest In July
You know a Direct is bad when they announce a Splatfest in it.
Loads of people raving but to me it was just meh.
