I put 280 hours into TOTK. Pikmin 4, 45 hours. Mario Wonder 25 hours.
All finished and since sold so no going back for me. A good 7 months of Gaming.
But a sense of wonder was definitely from BOTW as that was completely new and, although TOTK had the better story, BOTW was a better experience for me.
Hyrule Warriors: The Imprisoning War will no doubt be next.
But I wouldn't mind the next Zelda to be a continuation. But have it set some 20 years later with parts of Hyrule rebuilt properly at the start then have the adventure move to new lands outside of Hyrule.
Already pre-ordered but I'm not expecting anything really revolutionary as it is still just New Super Mario Bros with extra power ups and stage changing shenanigans.
I don't collect games anymore though so once I complete it I will sell it on. Hopefully it will have more than 10 hours of gameplay this time round.
If we are talking launch window we'll no doubt get a 3D Mario on launch day, Mario Kart 10 month 2, Splatoon 4 month 3 then Metroid Prime 4 a few months later.
All depends on the release date of the console though to how staggered these are.
I slightly spoiled the story reveal as I was looking up in the sky, saw a new dragon high up, and got it's name as I'd opened the camera to take a photo of it.
But I found the Master Sword by doing the Tears Quest and catching up with the Dragon straight after.
Then did the deku tree later so the Sword Quest completed upon saving him.
I do wonder if the game was originally going to be called Tears of the Dragon before they settled on Kingdom?
I'm 205 hours in and yet to go fight the final boss though. Still a few things to do.
Definitely get the feeling this is the final year of the Switch now.
Glad I've still got many hours to go in TOTK and I'm already going to get Pikmin 4 and have the MK booster pack.
2D Mario is really just a slight update from New Super Mario Bros and looked like one of those run games on some of the levels. Will see when they show more but will be another 6 hour game.
Pretty much everything was a filler just to get them to the next system that will have a stellar first year like the Switch. Unless they blow it and announce a new gimmick instead of a Switch 2.
I really enjoyed it too. Not sure what people are saying about the story.
Spoilers...
It's the first Mario film no doubt in a series. It introduces the audience to Mario, Luigi and their family in Brooklyn and their day job. It shows us how they got to the Mushroom Kingdom. Luigi gets kidnapped by Bowser. Mario wants to rescue Luigi and on the way he befriends Toad (captain toad) and Peach etc..
Bowser wants to marry Peach and destroy the world. They get help from the Kongs leading to the end battle.
Not bad for 92 mins.
Now the sequel is where you explore more in depth their motivations to stay there and the relationships between the main characters.
It's still the game I put the most hours into (if only the Switch showed actual hours played I might remember how long) but I sold it about 5 years ago.
Everyone saying they have got their pre-orders in (like me at £49)...
Remember as per the terms and conditions, (on Amazon, Shopto, thegamedcollection and Hit) that if Nintendo does indeed raise the price of the physical copy of TOTK to something the store/website wasn't expecting, they have the right to cancel your pre-order as it is mispriced.
Then relist it at the correct price that they can afford to sell it at. Obviously stores buy in bulk from Nintendo but they will still have profit margins to reach to make it worth selling.
In 2017 BOTW launched at £59.99. It is still it's RRP. I was lucky to get it at £55 then for launch day. The Collectors Edition was £79.99 or something.
The price reduced within a few months but only when stores had offers on and stock was more available.
They are supporting Splatoon 3 with Splatfests for 2 years (Sept 2024). Mario Kart dlc til end of 2023. Zelda TOTK out in May which they will want to sell so many of on the current system... Super Mario Bros Movie tie in game most likely this year too.
The Switch is still selling...
So, Switch 2 will be announced at the end of 2024 with 2025 release at the earliest.
And yes it will play Switch 1 games and you can transfer digital games over. Online service will be updated so you get n64 games on basic plan. Expansion Pak covers NGC and above if they can although I still see a lot if remakes happening instead.
Nintendo doesn't need to compete with xbox or playstation. They have their own market now.
Better specs and a much better dock. Backwards compatible with all Switch 1 games. New Pro Controller where the dpad works properly. Bigger joy cons with more comfortable grips/ no drifting. Bigger memory with storage in the dock too if needed. Etc ...

Re: SNES Racer Series Top Gear Is Being Revived As A Switch Collection In 2024
The music takes me right back to 1992. I'll definitely be getting this.
Re: Talking Point: Along With Joy-Con Drift, What Does Nintendo Have To 'Fix' With 'Switch 2'?
I don't play portable so all I really want is for the new pro controller to have a decent d-pad. It has been awful since day one.
If the dock helps boost performance for TV mode then that would be great too.
Bigger joy cons with better grip if you do play handheld.
Re: Nintendo Reportedly Showed 'Switch 2' Demos To Developers At Gamescom
Showing developers stuff now won't equate to those developers suddenly having decent games ready in less than a years time.
I still expect it to release around May 2025 and potentially have an announcement end of 2024/ full reveal Jan 2025.
They'll need enough stock and enough software support for the first year.
Re: New Interview With Zelda Boss Suggests There Are No Plans For TOTK DLC
No need for dlc really...
Hyrule Warriors: The Imprisoning War will no doubt be next.
But I wouldn't mind the next Zelda to be a continuation. But have it set some 20 years later with parts of Hyrule rebuilt properly at the start then have the adventure move to new lands outside of Hyrule.

Re: Random: Fan-Made 'The Legend Of Zelda' Movie Trailer Shows What Will Never Be
Being a Child of the 80's and knowing where all the clips came from this is a really lazy effort trailer in my opinion. 💩
Re: Talking Point: After Three Months, What's Your Zelda: TOTK Completion Percentage?
I didn't realise you could see a completion percentage on this one. I only noticed the 'star' next to my save.
I did 280 hours but have already sold the game.
I'll have to borrow my mates copy to check at some point just like I planned if they announce dlc for 2024.
Re: Talking Point: Which Nintendo IP Should 'Switch 2' Launch With?

Re: PSA: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom News Channel Giving Out Free In-Game Items
Still better than what you got for collecting all the Koroks in BOTW.
DLC is coming but probably at the end of the year to allow more people to finish the game fully with glitches or not.
Re: Poll: What Did You Think Of Today's Nintendo Direct?
I thought it was sh*te.
Definitely get the feeling this is the final year of the Switch now.
Glad I've still got many hours to go in TOTK and I'm already going to get Pikmin 4 and have the MK booster pack.

Re: More Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom amiibo Are On The Way
They'll announce the dlc later in the year to not spoil the story.
Also expecting Hyrule Warriors: The Imprisoning War next year.
Re: Splatoon 3 Is Getting A New Splatfest In July
You know a Direct is bad when they announce a Splatfest in it.
Loads of people raving but to me it was just meh.
Re: Random: Guillermo del Toro Praises Mario Movie For Moving Animation In Right Direction
The only way Mario advances the animation industry is that there will now be more animated movies being made again for cinema due to its success.
But again, the quality vs quantity issue will crop up.

Re: Time Between Switch's Announcement And Launch Was A "Special Case", Says Nintendo

If they don't go with Switch 2 then it really will be a step backwards even if their new system is unique.
Re: Exclusive: Fall Of Porcupine Brings A Healthcare Worker's Adventure To Switch Next Month
I enjoyed the demo on Switch a while back . It is on my wishlist. Definitely one to get once my backlog is clear.
Only 15 games to go...
Re: Mario Movie Home Release Bonus Features Seemingly Detailed
Disappointing extras.
In the Directs the cast always sounded like they were making stuff up about how they loved Mario. They are only there for the money.
I would have preferred storyboards, artwork and a making of documentary with the Animators, Nintendo and Director.
Re: Random: Mario Movie Illegal Upload Watched By Millions On Social Media
The things people do to not be in a cinema full of noisy children and their parents who don't care what they do.
I'm sure everyone here has watched something pirated in their lives.
Robocop uncut on vhs as a child was definitely a favourite all the way to movies/TV shows in perfect 4k that are easy to get now due to streaming.
I wouldn't watch a movie on my phone though and I still prefer going to the cinema. Guardians of the Galaxy 3 tomorrow. 😍
Re: Video: How To Fully Prepare For The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom
To fully prepare I'm not reading any articles about TOTK on this site and others and avoiding those gameplay videos too.
I'll be doing the same a few weeks after release so I can go in as blind as possible.
Re: Hands On: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Indulges Your Idiocy In The Very Best Way
I thought you weren't going to post any spoilers about this game. Guess we'll be getting 5 or 6 posts a day once you have your review copy.
Re: Talking Point: Which Is Your Favourite Nintendo Controller? Every Nintendo Pad Ranked
I voted GameCube.
If only the Switch Pro-controller had a decent d-pad. Just try going up and down vines with it in Super Mario Bros 2 and you'll see what I mean.
Re: Talking Point: Which Is Your Favourite Quest In Zelda: Breath Of The Wild?
I haven't read the article but tbh after finishing the game 5 years ago I can't remember.
Looking forward to TOTK though.
Re: Talking Point: Which Nintendo Franchise Should Illumination Tackle Next?
Nothing new just yet. Concentrate on the sequel to Super Mario Bros.
Then maybe Luigi's Mansion for a Halloween Release one day.

Re: Talking Point: With One Month 'Til TOTK, What's Left For You To Do In Zelda: Breath Of The Wild?

Re: Super Bomberman R 2 Explodes Onto Switch This September
If only they would just do a Bomberman Classic Collection including the SNES/Megadrive entries with online play.

@Clammy 'Spoiler' Mario and Princess team up to rescue Luigi.
Re: PSA: Watch Out, Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Art Book Spoilers Have Leaked Online
I haven't looked but i will be ordering the book once it goes live on amazon.
Is it a coffee table sized book again. I have all the others. I highly recommend the BOTW one to fans if you've not got it. So much info in there.

Re: Gallery: Here's Another Look At Pikmin 4, Out On Nintendo Switch This July
I'm surprised the dog wasn't announced as a new Amiibo too.
Re: Nintendo's Investor Q&A Promises Switch Isn't Dead After Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom
Switch 2 won't be announced this year. I still think 2025 is earliest release for that with Metroid Prime 4 being a launch title.
We'll no doubt have a Pokémon announcement in February and then a specific Zelda TOTK Direct in March/April.
Then in June/July they'll do another big Direct announcing their Autumn/Winter line up.
There's bound to be a big Nintendo game (Super Mario Bros The Movie maybe) and of course another Pokémon released by the end of the year.
I still expect Yoshi's Woolly World to be ported at some point along with Zelda WW HD. And now also Metroid Prime 2 and 3.

Not anymore. Even Hit has put price up now.

Re: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Temporarily Listed On Nintendo Website For $70 USD
@PJ301178
In 2017 BOTW launched at £59.99. It is still it's RRP. I was lucky to get it at £55 then for launch day. The Collectors Edition was £79.99 or something.
The price reduced within a few months but only when stores had offers on and stock was more available.
Re: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Temporarily Listed On Nintendo Website For $70 USD
I do find the comments here quite ridiculous sometimes.
$10 is not a lot of money.
£8.60 for us Brits.
What do you easily spend $10 on without thinking?
A Cinema ticket for 2 hours entertainment? A Takeaway? A small top up shop of milk, bread etc...
$70 for potentially 100+ hours of gaming on a game that only comes around twice a decade if we are lucky isn't bad.
Nearly everything has gone up in price in the last few years.
Buy physical and sell on once you are done if you are not a 'keeper' like myself.
Roll on the Direct for the Trailer...
I expect a Zelda:TOTK specific Direct in March/April.

Nintendo Switch 2 is the future.
But not until late 2024/5.
Nintendo doesn't need to compete with xbox or playstation. They have their own market now.

Re: N64 Classic Yoshi's Story Celebrates Its 25th Anniversary Today (Japan)
I wouldn't call this a 'classic'.
I was so disappointed as I wanted a similar game to Yoshi's Island.
I will always hear the Yoshi's singing "Be careful" for the rest of my life though.
Re: Kazuya & Sephiroth amiibo Release 13th January, Pyra & Mythra Arrive In 2023
I'm looking forward to the smash amiibo collection coming to an end as I only collect these.
