Re: Shinobi: Art Of Vengeance Switch Resolution Update Now Available

chiptoon

Things like this are such a shame. I saw several reviews that meantioned the resolution on Switch not being great, so I decided not to buy it at launch. Now, especially with the release of Hades 2, its become a wait for sale game.

Releasing in a good state really matters.

There's a game I was eying a which ago - They always Run - looks kind of cool, but apparently had serious issues at launch. I cant find anything that says clearly if this has been updated, which I checked again when it was recently on sale.

I get that updates happen, but if you miss basic stuff at launch it can seriously impact sales, even in the long term.

I'll still be getting Shinobi, but now much later, when my avaialable tme co-incides with a decent sale.

Re: Review: Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Con 2 Wheel - Flawed, But Still Fun

chiptoon

The Wii wheel was pretty descent, comfortable to hold. I also recall in online matches players using motion controls would be awarded an icon, so it was clear who was using what in the rankings. And the motion controls were almost always the top positions.

So I disagree with a lot of what you say. Motion controls can take some getting used to, but they can work really well.

You left out the only thing that really matters for this review. These things are stupidly tiny! For adult hands my fingers have to cross awkwardly at the back or I have to hold them with my finger tips, an equally weird grip.

As someone who loves the original Wii wheel these were an utter disappointment. 3/10 for a motion control fan. Not fit for purpose, even if the way the joycons clip in is super satisfying.

Re: Poll: Has Donkey Kong Bananza Made You Feel Ill?

Its pretty bad for me. I've only experienced this on VR games and FPS games that play sub-30fps.

Was not expecting it. Really hoping tweaking settings will fix it, but honestly, it made me feel so bad I have not really wanted to go back.

Re: Randy Pitchford Defends Borderlands 4 Pricing Comment

chiptoon

I'm no fan of Randy, and I suspect he does not understand the outcome of his comment. He's right though.

There have been a lot of moves to capture audiences that lower the expected cost of games. Notably subscription services like Gamepass and PS+. I've just cancelled my subscription to PS+, because it has been having a negative imapct on my gaming time, especially as a busy father.

I was getting access to too many games too cheaply! So I wasn't enjoying them. I was trying out a lot and playing very few.

I nearly did not buy into Switch 2, but realised that my daughter is going to LOVE it for the next few years, so for me its totally worth it.

And that's the point. I made it work, because I'm a fan. And it was worth it to me. But what I suspect it will lead to is lower sales, at least at full price.

So yeah, Randy, your biggest fans will make it work. Let's see how big that audience is.

Re: Poll: Orange Or Red Switch eShop - Make Your Choice

chiptoon

Orange was easier to look at, but when your poll stacks colour against making it run better, theres no question.

Why do they design these online shops in a way that is entirely unable to handle loading content? Given that they are clearly pushing for an digital future, they really need to get this sorted out fast.

Re: Zelda: BOTW Switch 2 Edition Won't Include The DLC, Nintendo Confirms

chiptoon

Madness really. The only result I see from this is far lowere sales accross teh board.

Maybe I'm jsut speaking for myself. But I'm still getting the Switch 2 and the big games I know I'll love. But I'll take no chances with their approach to prices -

So for example I tried Hyrule Warriors on Switch. I did not liek it very much, personally. But I bought it. And Bowsers Fury, even though I'd completed 3D World on Wii U.

On Switch 2 I'll not be buying games like that. So more profit per unit, but far, far fewer units.

Re: Here's Why Switch 2 Joy-Con And Pro Controllers Don't Have Analogue Triggers

chiptoon

@RasandeRose I get what you're saying. The 8bitdo Ultimate controller allows for both options, and I personally have no issue with how it works.

I get your point on some tactile feedback, but they have all that fancy HD rumble tech that they barely use, which would easily provide that. Much the same as a Mac track pad.

My point is just that there are alot of solutions. The image of this long line of 'fussy' developers demanding that there not be analogue triggers is ridiculous, and definietly not the reason.

Re: Where To Pre-Order Nintendo Switch 2

chiptoon

Man, South African prices are BRUTAL. The console, plus Mario Kart, Kong and a case are a months family groceries.

If my daughter wasn't 11 I think I'd wait a long time on this, but in a year or two she might not want to spend time playing Mario Kart.

You win, Nintendo.

Re: Feature: Nintendo Life eShop Selects (February 2025)

chiptoon

I'm interested in Star of Providence, but my interest would increase significantly if it was complatible with the Flip Grip, in other words if you could rotate the screen.

I've seen nothing about that, so I assume you can't. Which is a bit of a pity.

Re: Analyst States That Switch 2's Price Won't "Really Matter" For Early Adopters

chiptoon

Define early adopter. Is it a day one buyer or a compulsive and wealthy Niontendo fan. Apple has proven that price point does not matter to a certain typoe of early adopter.

But Nintendo fans are different in a lot of ways and since they skew younger, are less wealthy.

I'm not young but will nope out hard at a certain pricepoint. and that pricepoint will be set by handhled PCs.
