I liked this ok on PS4, but I didn't really get why everyone was raving about it. I found the gameplay very trial and error and the only real difficulty I had was when solutions or items were hidden, usually by the gloomy environments. I remember this one bit that baffled me, until I realised there was a lever that i was simply running past repeatedly without seeing it. Its a good enough game, with great art direction. But I always see massive praise with little counter argument.
I saw it through to the end, but I'd never touch it again.
While I'm not trying to invalidate any of your points, I want to offer some totally subjective counterpoints.
Regarding quality and whether vinyl should exist (not that I buy vinyl myself): I like pixel art. But I really like pixel art with scan line filters and blur that look like games used to look on a CRT tv. Its less crisp and precise, even more so if you add curvature, but I really like it. Others like to see pixel perfect. To each their own and both have a right to exist because there is a market.
When it comes to music I often find a lossless format available for albums I buy on Bandcamp, for example. But I take the MP3s anyway, becasue they're small and convenient and I just don't care that much.
On the digital versus physical issue, I think that physical is going no where, probably ever. Because some people like it, like vinyls. But a digital only future is also quite appealing from a convenience point of view. And then each physical game comes with multiple updates etc that mean your game was not on the cart / disc in the first place. So I don't really know why anyone is worried about this. Analyst and business will make statements and decisions and they will learn what the market wants.
@darthstuey not so much sarcastic. Ironic. Real world evidence shows that the analogue / digital / download shakedown that happened and continues to happen in music ended up that whatever medium you want is still pretty widely available. And that you should not take what analysts say too seriously.
I never know about Ys. I tried one of the Vita ones, and liked it for a few hours and then get really bored, especially found it repetitive, and many of the characters annoyed me.
But I want to like it. It feels like I should like it. tempted to try again.
Although I can't tell if you're being serious about "stumbled upon a rather odd Disney movie called TRON" - was it possible to avoid Tron when it was released? It was huge! And has been pretty huge and influential since then.
I've been playing this almost exclusively since taking a chance on it on release Day. Its absolutely fantastic. The pacing is perfect with each run remaining incredibly thrilling and satisfying.
Most disappointing Nintendo E3 in many years. After not really touching PS4 in a year and a half, I came away from E3 with a list of 6 exciting PS4 games and 0 Switch games.
I was happily surprised by Oxenfree. Was not convinced enough by reviews until it went on a sale. Ended up entirely engrossed in it. Absolutely loved everything except the loading times.
I remember really enjoying the first couple of hours of this, all those years ago. Problem was that I could stop. And quickly, it got boring pretty fast.
I love the simplicity of the store, so I'm not really keen on much of this.
The one thing I really want is a cart so I can pile in a whole lot of stuff and then discard til I'm happy with the price. I actually feel like Nintendo has missed a lot of sales form me becasue of this.
Load times seem to be a very common issue on Switch. Painful on Oxenfree, load times have basically stopped my enjoyment of Night in the Woods. And several reviews have mentioned them lately.
I have to admit that I was disappointed by this. Just finished it 2 days ago. Its beautiful, but there's so many irritations in the gameplay I found myself often wondering how it was released without more refinement. Example - enemies you run straight into as the screen moves to the next area. Or that jump/fly/stop flying are on one button, but flying can also be initiated by pressing up while jumping just leads to endless accidental falls.
Still, good for them and I'm still glad I played it. But I wanted to LOVE it, and just couldn't
OMG, I had missed that this was coming to Switch! I'm so happy. I loved the first one (2nd was OK, but so gimped by being on PSP). Had been wondering how I would ever find time to play it on PS4.
So intrigued by this. But I don't like rogue likes or rhythm games especially. So will likely wait for a sale before risking it. But it sure looks great
Their entire approach to Nindies says otherwise. It’s not a bad thing, but they market them this way, give them space in presentations under this banner etc etc.
In my opinion if there was any more to it it would be hard to recommend. Its short length and lack of padding make it a pleasure to play. It respects your time.
(Not a treat. No that special edition seems hugely overpriced and totally pointless. For awesome special edition, see Xenoblade 2. I really wanted to be excited for this, the rerelease of my favourite action game, but I'm really disappointed)

Re: Review: Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus (Switch)
I was so excited to try this, and downloaded the demo on PS4. But I found the first 10min so repellent that I deleted it immediately.
"It’s guilty of being rather tasteless at times, looking for cheap shocks " is an important part of this review to bare in mind.

@Sakura Bingo!
Re: US Research Analyst Believes Gaming Could Become 100% Digital By 2022
Vinyl is dead. It's a completely worthless medium in the face of new technologies. You'll never see it for sale in stores again.
Re: Review: Hollow Knight (Switch eShop)
And unlike Yoku's Island and Celeste , it launched at the right price!

@Shiryu I'd not worked far enough back in your discography to find that yet. Looking forward to it this evening.
I'll accept that you may be AS big a fan as me.
Re: Hands On: Waging War With Valkyria Chronicles 4
Most anticipated game of the year for me a this point. The first is probably my favorite PS3 game.

Re: Review: Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion (Switch eShop)
haven't actually bought Splatoon 2, since I tired of the first rather fast, even though I liked it a fair bit.
But I kind of wish I could buy this as stand alone! Its more appealing to me than the main game.
Re: SpiritSphere DX Is Part Tennis, Part Beat Down And It's Coming Exclusively To Switch
